And I may add a decent one that is not shy on the servings either! No eggs better than this diamond! AND increasingly better than the opening hours is the prices. As we made our way up the stairs, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but was pleasantly surprised by the bright, modern Décor. The menu is welcoming with something for everyone, just remember to leave room for dessert. The drinks menu is great, with hot and cold drinks available, but I can definitely recommend the Tea Latte, or a frappe or ... ah, don't worry there is no wrong choice it's all divine. The staff are really friendly and never make you feel rushed, even when it's busy, which it nearly always is. If you have to wait, I really recommend you do, but if you can't ,don't forget to order a tea latte to take away with you.

The menu is vast with numerous sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes etc. A good range of daily specials too, including a wide variety of remarkably well priced hot meals. Their lasagne is particularly good a generous flavoursome dish, with a side order of garlic bread. However, on our last visit, the daily special curry and home-made sweet potato bake, whilst equally generously portioned, lacked any real flavour. Drinks wise, equally expansive, from cappuccinos to milkshakes. On the whole a menu to cater for most people's needs. The staff are friendly and efficient too. The Upstairs Cafe, also has a small shop too, selling gifts, speciality teas and coffees, maps etc., amongst other things. It is quite a popular place in Bakewell though, you might be queueing if you go at midday, especially in the height of summer.

Basically it looks a lot cooler from outside with the indoor a bit 'average caf' like although the fact that you can see everything being cooked in front of you is a really novel and cool way to showcase that this place is all about good quality food. Although they do some tasty cafe items like burgers, sandwiches and snacks they're also a place where you can enjoy coffee and cake - and the cake selection is pretty epic! Our merry bunch of eaters all looked like the strangest, most eclectic 'orderers' ever with my wife and sister in law mainly enjoying cake and myself just going for a "light snack" of the ham hock terrine for £4.95. For this price I was expecting a little tiny bite, really not much to it but I was surprised to get a giant plate of ham hock, fresh bread, salads, pasta and loads more. It was so fresh and so tasty too - definitely something I'll go out of my way to have again if I'm up this way (I just won't have lunch plans afterwards too...) Friendly staff and seating for about 15 outdoors - with only 5 mins walk to Buxton train station. A really good spot and a place I'd recommend checking out.

The first choice of the Yelp recommendations for lunch was the Cafe at Green Pavilion: on this day, an oasis in a storm! Joining other rain bedraggled customers, we settled to the table adjacent the constantly busy kitchen, marvelling at the range of both sweet and savoury treats on offer: huge sausage rolls, fresh tempting salads and sticky pink cakes. A good choice of drinks, most in two sizes, both the Americano and Cappuccino were strong, but not bitter. A good variety on the menu from deluxe sandwiches to burgers, and a good range of daily specials, I was tempting by the homemade chilli, but conscious that we were dining in the evening, I plumped for the baguette with roasted vegetables, pesto and a dressed salad; a wonderfully tasting lunch, the pesto was full of flavour, and the sheer freshness and variety of the salad rounded off the dish perfectly. My wife had one of the soups of the day, a hearty vegetable soup, with carrots, cabbage, swede, celery, courgette and onion, with accompanying dark rye bread, a meal on it's own, perfect for a rainy day in April! Great service too, the staff were helpful and clearly passionate about their job, one of the best lunches I've had for some time.
