We had a some of the Sunday roast while having a good catch up. They only start serving at 1pm,but ... ohh ... it was great. We both had the vegetarian option which came with nicely roasted veg, gravy, Yorkshire pudding and the veggie roast was a nice mushroom/nuts/cauliflower mixture in a fluffy pastry. After that we moved away from the table to a super confi sofa near a real fireplace. The place was busy with loads of young families and their friends. Very relaxing, but still busy atmosphere.

It sits on a corner of Green Lanes, halfway between Manor House and Turnpike Lane. It has a wide selection of real ales and lagers on tap such as the much sought after Staropramen, and my favorite, the blond Leffe. They also serve food from the bar with a modern menu, fairly priced and with large servings. This is a place where you can happily wile away a few hours of the night or day in deep armchairs, and then return to the fray refreshed and revived. You might say the Salisbury is more time machine than pub, it has awards on show celebrating its level preservation and an array of stuffed animals which were most likely bagged in 1908. Meet your Dad there for Sunday lunch, its a rare find you won't forget.

Well actually it once was with much more dodgy clients but thats gone now and it's done up, with even a roast being advertised with much more families turning up. Can't out finger on it, I'm not sure what It is trying to be. Maybe nothing, just a run of mill pub. I want to like it, not the biggest fan of the bar being so narrow as you walk in though the beer was ok. Prepared to give it a chance though and visit again. Suppose it's perched in a strange location. Hoping it has some sort of music night as I think a theme would be good for a pub like this actually.

(Cover charge is £5) The first hour is a jam session by the regulars and the second half is open mic for local singers. I was actually there to see a friend perform. The ambience is warm and welcoming, it's fantastic! Most people seem to live in the neighborhood and everyone is having a great time listening and dancing. Their Swedish pear cider was great if you like sweet cider. I really liked the breaded brie with cranberry sauce and eggy creme brûlée. I also tried a bite of falafel burger which was quite good.

Lots of new ones for me and I followed the crowd in selecting Buzz Light Beer, the honey-est flavoured bee-er I hive ever tasted (haha sigh). It was rather nice. The icing on the cake? A falafel tent erected outside the pub. You can order there and they will bring the delicious result to you at your table in the pub. Not sure how often that is the case of course, but if its outside I would recommend it.

Unfortunately, the actual pub doesn't serve food. The pub staff are always really nice even when they're busy. The clientele range from older men to hipsters to young professionals to everything in between. It's a really good place to grab a pint and they even allow four legged friends. I had a lovely time here last night listening to a blue grass band. There was lots of people there and even some dancing. The atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed ourselves! Now that I've listed all the positives, I do need to talk about the negatives. The pub needs a restoration as it is beginning to look a little worn. For example, the carpets need to be replaced and it could do with a fresh coat of paint. However, the place is pretty clean for a pub! This is pretty minor as the other elements are way more important to a night out. On the other hand, this is also part of the vibe. Overall it's a charming aspect of the community that I'm glad is around!
