I left my original review 8/9/216 and he wasn't a REAL licensed contractor until 8/22/2016 Please google the PA attorney general's website and look up his contractor information. He has reported this review several times as the owner keep harassing me to take it down and trying to keep names and phone numbers out of my review. His CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE NUMBER: PA126617 you can check the attorney general's website, look him up, and see my review is the truth.
Called for an estimate, said he gives free estimates. Said I had an apox three story tree in my yard, and what would be a ballpark on that. he repeated himself like I was a toddler saying he gives free estimates. I said I just wanted to know what a ballpark was because I've never had to have a tree removed before.....he again repeated his words to be like I was a moron and said "I. Give. Free. Estimates.". When I said nothing he said he'd have to see it.
I said ok and asked him what his contractors number was, he said he didn't have one. Told me on the phone the state of PA doesn't require him to have a valid contractors number. I said okay again and asked him who he was insured through. He said he didn't know who his insurance was through, "probably through Erie Insurance".
I called the Office of the Attorney General who handles contractor licensing in the state of PA and they said HE IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A CONTRACTORS LICENSE, and then they verified to me that HE DOES NOT HAVE ONE.
I also called Erie Insurance and had them look him up under the company name and under his name, and they do not have any policy for him. Filled a complaint with Attorney General's Office.
Edit 8/10/2016: he is now threatening to sue me, claiming he doesn't have to have a PA contractor's number, and said no tree people do in Erie. I screenshot about 3 three services webpages who all list their contractors number to make my point. He asked for my lawyers name and said he's filing a lawsuit against me for slander and I will have to "pony up". I forwarded my attorney his information, and gave it to Miller as well.
If this is how he handles estimates........do you really want to do work with him? A customer should be able to ask for insurance and contractors license without a slander lawsuit!
Edit again: he has now begun sending me Facebook messages alternating between legal threats to take down this review and demanding my address. Threatens me but want my address?! Draw your own conclusions about his intentions there.
EDIT: 12/13/2016 ----- Owner joined Yelp to give me a "Compliment" to threaten me again to remove this review. He claims if you call him he will give you his contractors license #. What's the big deal? WHY NOT JUST TELL PEOPLE!!???? Every other contractor in the city has their license number right on their web page and business cards. Why not this guy? Draw your own conclusions.
I suggest people go to: http://hicsearch.attorneygeneral.gov/
TO ALWAYS CHECK FOR A CONTRACTORS NUMBER.
I would also tell people to GOOGLE who they're hiring. If I had googled this man I would NEVER have called him.
1/29/2017-----owner sent me an "estimate" through biz act after I've already blocked him on Yelp. Wow.. Reported. read more
