Austin Yeats settled in Texas in the middle 1850's with his wife, Frances Bond and her family. Yeats was a house joiner by trade, which may account for the condition of the original log structure today. Yeats and his family were among the first settlers in the area, settling in the area several years before Granbury became a town. Yeats left Granbury only to fight for the Confederacy in the War Between the States. The Yeats family sold the house in 1875 to the Nutt family. The Nutt family was integral to the development of the town of Granbury, having donated the original forty acres the town was platted from. The Nutt family sold the house to Major William Duke and his wife, Sophronia, in 1880. The Dukes came to Granbury from Alabama, and William Duke practiced law and became very involved in the community, becoming a founding member of the Hood County School. The Duke family made several additions to their home, beginning by surrounding the original cabin with a larger frame structure. Eventually the Dukes added a second pen the same size as the first attached by a dog trot. By 1905, dogtrot was enclosed adding a third room to the home and a front porch was added. The last addition to the home came in 1932, with the addition of a back porch next to the rear shed room. The home remained in the Duke family for many years, and it was not until the 1970's that Granbury's first preservationists rediscovered the original cabin inside the structure. The Yeats Duke Cabin now belongs to the City of Granbury and efforts are being made to fully renovate the structure. The Yeats Duke Cabin was designated a local landmark September 5, 2006. This information was obtained from the city's website.

However.....the Air Conditioner is one of those that does not have a constant fan mode. It's loud, but a steady sound when it's on. When it turns on, for some reason it sounds like a popcorn machine popping and clicking cloudly. That stops after a few minutes, but enough to disturb your sleep every 20 minutes. When the AC is not on, you can hear every noise in the hallway and on the foyer/library which is where our door was. Finally at about midnight the crowd outside dispersed and we were able to TRY and get some sleep. Now, for the 19th Hole Restaurant. Took forever to get a waitress to our table, then took fifteen minutes to get the soda and beer we ordered. I had hoped to be able to drink my beer while we waited for our to-go food. Nope. I knew I should have checked my food while we sat there letting it get cold so I could enjoy my super delayed beer, but alas, I did not. By the time we got to the room to open it up, the order was wrong. Not only was it wrong, there were no napkins, no flatware, no catsup or mayo..... nothing. The burger was supposed to be NO CHEESE, and no pickles. Should have had all the rest of the normal stuff. Ironically, it came with ONLY CHEESE. I'm lactose intolerant and can't eat cheese, which they so nicely melted onto the burger for me. And again, not even any flatware to scrape it off. Fortunately it was topped off with about 7 French fries, which again I got to enjoy with no catsup. Coffee in the room. Hard to screw that up, right? Well, you get to enjoy it not with coffee creamer, but with Whitener. I'd never seen that one before. I realize this isn't your traditional hotel with a restaurant, or my complaints would have been much more at the moment and direct. I think next time I'll bring my camper and stay at the little RV park they have here. I'm in hotels and restaurants all the time for work, and would not recommend this place.

And don't have any respect for the area or what it was. The contractors they are building have absolutely no respect for the residents that live there I've been run off the road at least 6 times almost head on collision 3 times now that's ridiculous. 3 of my neighbors have already been hit by contractors and they have even been caught literally running down fawns in the fields with their trucks. For fun . They have been doing illegal burns trash is everywhere after storms because they don't take care of the mess when building , they have cut down countless live trees that I myself know owls and hawks live in right behind my house for one that's illegal to do that but there seems to be a lot of illegal activity going on here . And don't get me started on how crooked the management is too. This place has become a joke houses will definitely depreciate very very soon. Data centers are going in surrounding the properties bet they say any of this stuff when your looking to buy , the roads can't handle the traffic the water dept can't handle it and the electric grid can't handle it , they are bitting off more then they can chew and when the crap hits the fan it will fall into the residence hands not theirs all they have to do is sell out .
