Saw these guys at the new Cedar Park Farms to Market. Did I mention that place was packed…read moreSaturday??? So I had to throw some 'bows to get up to the front and taste BVF's stuff. They have all kinds of dips that come in dry packets which you mix up at home and some jarred salsa and homemade tortillas and chips. I was only interested in the jarred salsa which was a habenero type and it was quite tasty. Not too spicy with a slow burn, chunky and just a bit vinegary which I like. But what really turned me on was the homemade tortilla chips. They were the thick, obviously-previously-a-real-tortilla kind. I was also intrigued by the whole wheat tortillas. Didn't have a chance to sample but I wanna go back for some of those so I can make my Tex-Mex healthy (riiiiight). So I ended up with a jar of salsa and a small bag of chips and it was $10.50! Yikes! The chips alone were $3.50. Now, I'll put out, er, dole out for thick chips but don't think I'll be buying the salsa again. Will have to further investigate this weekend.

I saw these guys for the first time at the Barton Creek Farmer's Market a couple of weeks ago and…read moresampled their spinach dip with one of their tortilla chips. Although the dip was tasty, all I could think about was the flavor and texture of the tortilla chip itself. Quite possibly the best I have ever tasted. So I bought a bag of them and took it to a Christmas party with a bacon cheeseball dip I made. Everyone liked the cheeseball, but the chips got eaten up like crazy. All that was left of them were crumbs the size of grains of sand. The party hostess (she's quite a great cook) told me the next time I get a chance to buy her as many bags of the chips as I can get my hands on, because they were the best she had ever tasted. You're really missing out if you haven't tried them!
