Perfect customer service! They helped me find the best best color for my wood floor, very helpful…read moreand they are close to my house, Will go back again.

I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to house maintenance…read more We had to repaint a bedroom wall and so I came here since they sell the paint I needed and the old paint can listed their SE location. First visit, I ordered online, the cashier told me to just call them next time since purchasing online cost more (not exactly sure about that, haven't compared prices). Then I went back for more paint because... I don't know what I'm doing and wasted a lot of paint. The 2nd time around, I asked many more questions and asked for tips. I was also trying to coordinate with my partner over the phone while in store with an employee helping me. - The employee so patient and understanding with me being on the phone. They then proved their patience with me going to my car and coming back inside THREE TIMES with more questions. Prices are reasonable, the tools sold there are about the same price as Ace Hardware. The employees are super nice and so very helpful. They had recommendations and answers for everything. There was no pressure to buy more or go for the more expensive option. They had tools that were on the price spectrum, there were cheaper options, midgrade and more expensive. They pointed out each tool, gave their rec and left it up to me to decide. I love that I can buy paint AND materials without feeling like I paid extra for materials because of the convenience. They get busy but they are also well staffed and take their time with customers. I never had to wait more than a few minutes. They also have some Spanish speaking staff and it sounded like they have good relationships with their Spanish speaking customers. Here's what I learned: -One quart of paint technically covers about 100 ft², but in reality, probably more like 60 to 80 ft², especially considering if you don't know what you're doing. My first mistake - getting one quart, 2nd visit, I definitely got the full size can. -After you're done painting use the rollers to go all in one direction one last time to avoid seeing any strokes. Stick with a matte color to especially avoid seeing any strokes. -If you're repainting a wall, it's best to paint the entire wall otherwise you might see the old paint versus the new.

Early June 2021, my wife and I walked into the SW Portland Sherwin-Williams store on Poplar Lane…read moreand the two employees barely looked up from their computer terminals. After 10 minutes, we finally addressed them and were given only cursory answers. When pressed, the employee did at least turn to face us and answered with three complete sentences, but did not leave his station. Finally, following additional conversation across the store, one employee did come over to us, but offered the minimal help possible. We left without making a purchase. We immediatly went to Miller's paint where we learned that deck paint is actually a complex topic: oil vs. water base, stain vs. paint, clean-up, application, expected lifespan of product, etc. There we felt comfortable making our purchase. Stay away from this S-W. One block west is a store with helpful employees. One star for being open on Saturday. No stars othewise.

We've been buying paint from the Clackamas location for nearly 18 years, and they truly know paint…read moreand color matching. We had one major issue involving another location where the second batch of paint was incorrectly tinted. The problem didn't show until the sun hit the house, and the color variances were obvious. We met with the owner, unsure how it would be handled, and he absolutely did the right thing. He acknowledged the employee mistake, took responsibility, and made sure our home looked exactly as it should. I think this family is amazing as the sister always helped me when I would shop for paint and she was always warm, giving and helpful. She made a lasting impression that her brother carried on! As local business owners ourselves, integrity matters to us. The owner went above and beyond to make it right, and that level of accountability is rare. We're extremely impressed and grateful. Highly recommend Powell Paint. -- Tim & Genelle Holub

After three days of searching for someone to help me with my lamp. I called Home Depot…read moreelectric/lamp dept...Larry said,"if you bring your lamp in I'll see what I can do" turns out he's worked for Home Depot 18yrs... he's a retired Vet/electrician he was my Champion today. He took my lamp apart & fixed it. He was wonderful. This man deserves a raise he was amazing!! Please reward him in some way! Home Depots getting my families business going fwd...LARRY'S A ROCKSTAR!

Home Depot has mastered the art of taking your money and disappearing the second there's a problem…read more We bought a water heater from them, paid a licensed plumber to install it, and the garbage they sold us turned out to be defective right out of the box. Naturally, we contacted the store expecting them to stand behind the products they profit from. Instead, they immediately hid behind the manufacturer and acted like none of it was their problem. So apparently Home Depot's business model is: Sell defective products, collect the money, dump the customer onto someone else when things fail. Amazing system. Truly. Anyone can make money if they never take responsibility for what they sell. And this wasn't even a one-time experience. Nearly everything we've purchased from this particular store has had issues, defects, or outright failures. Getting anyone there to help is like talking to a wall. No ownership, no urgency, no accountability. Just endless "you'll have to call someone else" nonsense from employees who clearly have been trained to avoid responsibility at all costs. At this point, it feels like Home Depot is less interested in customer service and more interested in being a middleman for defective junk while leaving customers stuck dealing with the consequences. Companies like this wonder why customers stop coming back and why people are abandoning big-box stores. Here's your answer: People are tired of paying premium prices for garbage products and nonexistent support. Absolutely pathetic customer service.
