Linda was able to provide unbiased insight into my struggles and shared with me a lot of wisdom about the human experience. She knew how to listen for the real issues I've been dealing with, and provided me with a forum to be able to express myself openly and without judgement. She is very open minded and present which put me very much at ease. It honestly feels like you are talking to a really close friend. Everything about her is warm and inviting. I like that she has an office in Encino as well as in Westlake Village as I've seen her in both places, depending on my work schedule. While that may be a true statement, it turns out that I did not need help being normal or functional and Jenny recognized that from the beginning. She is very professional, a good listener and most importantly, thoughtful. She asks the right questions, gives the right amount of guidance and support, and radiates positivity. She adapted our sessions to what would help me that day, week or month. Over a course of a year, Jenny helped me rebuild myself (broken, post unhealthy relationship) to a stronger, happy, and complete individual. By the time I decided to "graduate" myself from her counselling, I had built a solid network of loving friends and family (from close to none), satisfying career, and the strength and clarity to create the most fulfilling life I can live-- in a relationship and in other aspects of life. I am also happy to share that with the amount of soul searching and personal development I derived from our sessions, I was able to channel that energy into getting into one of the best MBA programs in the world. She's an okay therapist. She offers logical advice on any problems you may be having, but most of…read morethe time it feels like you're just talking to a friend and not really getting useful advice (considering the price). My issue with her is that she does not put her patients first. After a few weekly sessions I was interested in having therapy sessions every 2-3 weeks instead of weekly sessions. She made it obvious that she prefers patients who have weekly sessions. The implication was that she wants a schedule that is predictable. If I'm interested in sessions regularly every two or three weeks instead of weekly, that's pretty predictable. So clearly she wants patients who give her money on a more frequent basis. I understand that, but therapy is a healthcare and customer oriented field, you can't be that inconsiderate (or you can but then people write reviews like this one). She did tell me to reach out to her the week before I was interested in one of my sessions to see if she had any openings. That made it seem like seeing her was a privilege when me doing business with her is the real privilege. At that point, it was clear that I needed to take my business elsewhere.

I find it hard to put into words exactly how profound my experience was with Vanessa. In only one session, I felt it was eye opening, life changing and gave me good ground work on how to create a conscious change in my beliefs and behavior. We started with a brief introduction to NLP and hypnosis, identified behavioral areas of improvement and journeyed through a variety of exercises, guided visuals, slight hypnosis and conversation to prompt new thought processes. I felt completed supported and safe with Vanessa throughout the entire session. Even with my eyes closed, I could feel her energy determined to work with me for the growth I was seeking. Vanessa truly offers something like I have never experienced before but is exactly what I've been seeking! I stray away from traditional types of counseling because as our behaviors evolve, we must find ways to evolve with them. Mark has immeasurably helped me to tackle and, over time, start winning my fight against this laundry list of issues. I consider myself to be a happy person now, which I haven't been for many, many years, and a huge chunk of the credit for changing that belongs to Mark. There are a number of qualities that make Mark an exceptional therapist / psychologist. He is smart, articulate, a down-to-earth people-person, extremely comfortable in his own skin, and unfazed by hard to talk about or traumatic or embarrassing or shameful shit. He is also somebody where once you get to know him and get comfortable with him, you don't have to worry about being judged or being thought of as conceited/annoying/a killjoy/selfish/retarded/naïve/a bad person/whatever, because he has such a warm and accepting and nonjudgmental demeanor. I was referred to Cathie by a Sensorimotor Psychotherapy instructor. Even though I'm a therapist I am always a bit hesitant with finding a new Therapist to go to, and Cathie immediately understood my issues on the first phone call. Our first session was by far one of the best sessions I have ever had as a client. I was able to access more than I have before, while also leaving the session feeling contained and able to go back out into the world, even after the work I did in our session. Our sessions were the most helpful thing for my PTSD, attachment injuries, and current symptoms (burnout, depression, nightmares, detached sense of self). She combines many theories and techniques, so the result is a very individualized session and treatment, as well as the possibility of treating many different issues at once. Most importantly to me, I referred many people to Cathie, and so far 3 of my friends have gone and the messages I have received have been amazing. They have been along the lines of "Cathie is amazing, thank you so much, I've never had therapy like this, our work was outstanding". As a therapist, I am often underwhelmed and defeated with my choices of decent let alone superior therapists with which I could refer people. I will continue to refer to Cathie and I would still be seeing her if I had not moved to England to work in a trauma center. I cannot emphasize enough how important her work is. If you are feeling stuck from the effects of trauma, childhood attachment injuries, and developmental wounds, Cathie is worth your time and money. I found Cathie as I was hoping to receive EMDR treatment. She was in my network and seemed like a…read moregood fit. We worked together for several months, and it was a mixed experience -- and not totally due to Cathie. I was often exhausted (or, more likely, my brain was trying to tap out during difficult sessions). The issues with Cathie lay in her continual focus and negative responses to my having another therapist. She often tried to have me let go of her or severely compromise my schedule to see them on different days. She ended up stopping our sessions and cited this as one of the main problems, which wholly confused me, especially as she knew I had a therapist when we started. I also signed a contract that made it seem I couldn't terminate the sessions, but Cathie could. It also seems that she isn't a thoroughly experienced EMDR specialist. We began our sessions with my eyes open but, I later learned, that having your eyes closed is a requirement. She later received more training and we began what seem to be more accurate EMDR sessions. If I weren't paying at an incredibly affordable rate through my insurance I likely would've been more frustrated with it overall. I did have some really interesting experiences during sessions and feel that I learned some good things about myself and my history. It's likely Cathie would be better for someone who doesn't have a regular therapist and is interested in pursuing talk therapy with EMDR.
