So how do I know they are excellent -they did a tasting for us at work and it was in every aspect wonderful. The culinary delights we tasted: Marinated Bocconcini Mozzarella - Bocconcini mozzarella skewered with sweet 100 tomatoes, olives and basil - this is a wonderful dish, the marinade is light and not overpowering and you get a wonderful burst of flavor of the mozzarella, basil and tomato - 4.5stars! Savory Waffle cone - Smoked salmon, crème fraiche, and chives in a savory waffle cone - THIS IS THE SEXIEST SALMON APPETIER EVER!!!! You really can't ask for a more perfect bite than this - the crunch of the savory waffle cone, the smokiness of the salmon paired with a light delightful taste of the crème fraiche, and chives - tantalizing and teasing your taste buds to keep taking one more bite! Samosas - Crispy flour dough filled with potatoes and curried green peas served with spicy Serrano dipping sauce. They completely got the consistency of the dough right, it was not too neither light nor too heavy just enough to hold the filling! The filling was traditional and I liked the flavor of cumin in these. Garlic Roasted Prawns - Garlic and chili roasted prawns served with herb mojo sauce for dipping - Amazing, totally amazing, the garlic and chili were a perfect accompaniment to the sweet shrimp. I could have eaten an entire plate of these and the herb dipping sauce was was very light and didn't overpower the taste of the shrimp. Chinese Chicken Salad - Wonderful flavors of the orients. Shredded lettuce, carrots, green onions, seasoned peanuts, crispy rice noodles and chicken breast served with tangy soy-hoisin dressing - this was a very flavorful and fresh salad. It wasn't soaked in dressing so you taste all the fresh greens. Another great dish! Chicken Caesar Wrap - Fresh romaine lettuce topped with chicken, toasted herb croutons and aged Parmesan cheese served with a traditional Caesar dressing. - they make this one with shrimp too and it is delish - I am not a big fan of the Caesar but my colleagues all agreed that this was a fantastic wrap, very fresh and crunchy romaine lettuce and just the right amount of dressing without it being overbearing. The aged cheddar really completed the whole dish. Assorted Gourmet Bar Desserts - An assortment of homemade gourmet bar desserts, perfect ending to a lovely tasting. They had such a variety and I was super stuffed but I had to try a bite of each of these and progressively each bite got better and better. Events of Excellence are highly recommended, wether you want corporate or private catering. These guys know what they are doing and provide excellent service and food. Thank you Randi Bara was such a wonderful tasting and I look forward to working with you soon.

Nicole was awesome. She was on time with proposals and revisions, gave great feedback on our selection parings and was just great to work with. Then we found out she wouldn't be working our event. After I called her directly (and not to pleased) she said she would be there during the hors dourves and dinner service. Instead, "Randy" was put in charge of the event and the preparation and service suffered as a result. Until Nicole got there, we had our wedding planner (who saved the day) bringing in food and drinks for the wedding party as we were taking pictures in the hot California sun. Once Nicole got there, she promptly took over, but that is what the staff should have been doing all along. The behavior of some of their junior staff left something to be desired as well. At the end of the evening, the Events of Excellence staff started throwing away anything left on the table before the10pm end time. Never mind that I was still there. We got them to stop but we would find out later that we lost keepsakes, cameras and other items as well. In the end, the guests were happy, and I am not. Their food was great, but my advice for other couples is to have a poison pill in your contract that explicitly states that if Nicole isn't there for the full duration of the event, you get a full refund. The difference in professionalism was that drastic when the Big Boss wasn't there. Drinks and Food: 5 stars Pre-event service: 5 stars (Nicole) At-Event service -1 star Average: 3 stars

We were seriously considering Saratoga Foothill Club as our wedding venue because it was very…read moreaffordable and came with a very nice almost-inclusive package through Panetta's. It was great when we were dealing with Erin, and was happy to see that Panetta's was also a preferred vendor when we decided on Hakone Gardens instead for our venue...but was sad again when we found out that Erin wouldn't be our go-to person. Instead, we would be dealing with Lori...which was very concerning because of all the Yelp reviews I've read here about her! Still, I decided to give them a try and scheduled a tasting with Lori because their package was very tempting...but SO many things went wrong in such a short of amount of time that our decision was immediately made for us! 1. I had told Erin that my fiance and I may possibly bring one of my bridesmaid along, but somehow that message never was communicated to Lori so she only prepared enough food for 2... 2. When we arrived at the catering location, we thought we had the wrong place because no one was in the office even though we tried knocking on the door (no doorbell) and waited for 10 minutes (!!!!!) before I tried calling Lori on her cell phone...she apparently was in the inside office even though she knew we were coming & decided to not wait by the outside office to welcome us. 3. We were expecting to be fed with food that's going to impress us right away when I scheduled our tasting at 1:30pm...instead, Lori starts talking NON-STOP for over an hour about details of the wedding day and how SHE wants everything to be done. When we questioned her about how things should be done, she says, "Well, I've done at least 50 weddings there. How many have you done?"...REALLY?!?!?! I didn't appreciate that one bit! 4. When we finally decided to interrupt her because I was WAY too hungry (hello?! I didn't eat breakfast thinking I would be fed with lunch at 1:30pm and it's now almost 3pm?! UN-freaking-acceptable!), Lori didn't seem happy about how we interrupted her and went inside the kitchen. I could hear her slamming everything inside (including the microwave door)...VERY unprofessional! 5. Lori also was not honest about their food - everything is "home-made" by the company. No...some of the hor d'oeuvres are clearly store-bought so please don't lie to our faces! When we tried to comment on what we felt about the food (salad was clearly over-dressed, chicken was WAY too dry, and I didn't enjoy their multi-grain rice at all), she appeared very offended... Clearly, we ran as fast as we could! Lori never even had the professionalism to follow-up with me so...whatever!

At no point during that call was there any mention of cost increases or potential issues--everything seemed confirmed. She later claimed that the food and time would "increase costs beyond what was discussed," but this excuse came after weeks of planning, a deposit, and a phone confirmation. Canceling so close to the event, without transparency or effort to resolve the issue, is extremely unprofessional. I was left scrambling to find another vendor at the last minute. When it comes to important events, communication and reliability are non-negotiable--and Elegant Treats failed on both. Josiah from Sent Sovi and Cocoy Ventura (previously of French Laundry) have risen above and won the foie battle. Join us in an underground setting in Los Gatos for an eclectic night and flavors from these two chefs. _____________________ OOOH! The foie finale dinner prepared by "chefs from San Jose to San Francisco, to Half Moon Bay" for the Silicon Valley Foie Battle?!?! My expectations were sky high! I'd been to one of the Dishcrawl Foie Gras dinners before and it blew my mind! I wanted to get my foie gras fix before the stupid ban in July! Plus, I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate Chris C's bday so I bought tickets for us for $150 each plus a $16 processing fee. The day before the dinner I received a couple of emails that revealed the location and the menu. My first thought was, hmmm...an apartment?!? I was hoping it was at a nice restaurant, or any restaurant but, whatever. My next thought was, we can't purchase wine pairings at the dinner??? Kinda lame but I was excited about dinner. No ice bucket for our champagne?? OK, they said there was a fridge but it was full. I was so stoked but when we got there I didn't see any professional chefs! No Josia from Sent Sovi and no Cocoy Ventura of French Laundry. My heart sank with disappointment thinking about the freakin' FALSE ADVERTISEMENT that sucked me in to pay $316 for dinner for 2! All eight dishes were prepared by Tracy, the Dishcrawl CEO, who has a background in marketing. She's not even a chef! GAHHHD, that sucks! What's even worse is that as she served the dishes she said (these are exact quotes from that evening): "I've never tried this before." How can you make something and never try it?!?! "Oh, I didn't make the sauce vert..." for the foie gras tacos, even though it was on the menu. "I didn't make the pea gastrique" for the foie gras & peas even though it's on the menu. That dish was lame! It was a slice of raw, unseasoned foie on a slice of baguette with 1/2 of a pea pod on the side. "I was gonna do it this way but it just didn't happen..." And giggles. Those comments sucked the life out of me! Eleven of us paid $158 and you couldn't deliver what was on the menu?!?! COME ON! At least pretend they're epic dishes so I might forget that I paid $300+. I'm not gonna list all 8 courses but I will say there were two dishes that were very good. I loved the first course of Foie Gras Panna Cotta served in a cute little jar. The candied sage and the garlic blossom added a surprising kick to the subtle sweetness of the panna cotta. That garlic flower actually tasted like garlic! And it was great with the panna cotta! My favorite was the third course of Foie Gras Benedict because it was seared perfectly, sweetened with maple, and the bacon on top was crunchy-salty goodness. It was so good that the birthday boy had another one. The other 6 dishes were underwhelming and they're not even worth mentioning. Just check out the pics. I wanna cry when I look at those pics. OK, you talked me into it, I'll mention a few bad ones.... Here's the lowlights: The foie gras & jelly sandwich was particularly lame. Apricot jam on white bread with frozen, grated foie on top. I couldn't even taste the foie gras, what the hell was that? And the last 2 courses were both desserts with snickerdoodle? Where's my foie? And why are you so unimaginative that you have 2 snickerdoodle desserts? Is it a snickerdoodle dishcrawl? I paid $20 for each course and this is what I get? If you want to experiment and have some friends over, this is the kind of dinner party you might throw for fun. But to charge $158 per head? This is ridiculous. I've been having friends over to experimental dinners at my place for FREE! I did enjoy chatting with the other 9 people I met that night, even though I was so bummed about the dinner. There was also a reporter and a photographer from The Daily Telegraph and a reporter from French TV 2. It was cool to be interviewed but then I was kind of annoyed every time the camera and the video camera were so close to my face while I ate. Damn, I wish I had my hair and make up done! Why didn't Dishcrawl mention that there would be reporters there before I bought tickets??? BEWARE of false advertising on the Dishcrawl website! The location and menu are not revealed until after you pay so be careful! After that experience I was totally turned off to Dishcrawl! Besides, why do I have to buy tickets from Dishcrawl to try food at a restaurant? Why not just skip the Dishcrawl and go to the restaurant to try their food? If you're lazy, and don't want to plan your own food adventure, you can pay these guys to do it for you. I'll admit it was fun to try once, a sit down dinner in a restaurant, cooked by a professional chef. But from now on I will not be signing up for anymore Dishcrawls!

The chicken was very moist and tender, perfectly seasoned and loved, loved, loved the broth/sauce from the chicken dripping.... not overly salted, a bit oily but we were all sipping it, gulp, gulp, gulp! so delicious! no calorie counting tonight.. The couscous was delicious too, I loved the crunch from the toasted almonds and the the sweetness from the raisins complemented the meal very well, combination of sweet (not too sweet) and savory. The vegetables and fruit were super fresh... I don't think I could have found better walking through a farmer market the same day. Really good hummus and bread. The only "grease" was juices from the meat and olive oil. All the flavors interacted well, and the tastes were a good mix of familiar and unique. This was good for a high-end restaurant, let alone for catering. I recommend them highly if you ever have a large party to cater. I really hope he starts a restaurant someday...
