A bit cramped and crowded like most small libraries but it becomes cozy rather than annoying because everything is so well organized. A very pleasant children's section takes a up a large part of the library and like many small, local libraries it feels more like a play room than a place to learn. Cool stuffed animals and colorful posters makes it a relaxing environment. The librarian was not only friendly and knowledgeable but actually gave us a tour of the little library and the town hall connected to the library. The type of person that is perfect for the job of small town librarian. While we were there the library was having a fund raising sale of items donated by local merchants. Bottles of wine, cool hats and other local and things not usually seen in a library filled a shelve near the entrance. Just added to the charm of the library. Certainly not a place to do some serious research or find some rare of unusual book but the Clinton Library is a very cool place to relax, read, look around or talk to some very nice people.

A terrific Library ~ helpful, friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. Not a quiet Library!read more

The library is beautiful, particularly in the older part of the main floor. It has lovely woodwork, a fireplace, and windows that look out onto the main street. There's also art for sale on their walls, absolutely amazing pieces I think are in pencil that make walking in a bit like going to a gallery. The librarians I encountered were friendly and interesting in hosting the public - I went for a Fika, where we had amazing snacks, coffee, and the chance to make a candle. Watch their website for other fun events!

Pawling's library is one of those places where everyone knows everyone. The kids come hang out in…read morethe afternoons and get lost in the books. Adults catch up with their reading or do some work in their laptop. It's the perfect place to study and get lost in books or a study project. Everyone here is extremely kind, especially Tom. You can ask him literally anything and he's there to help, recommend a read, a documentary, or just help you with your card. One of the nicest and most helpful humans to exist! There's plenty of selections here but if you can't find something in person you can always check something out online. Great little library!

I mean you don't come for hip wifi or the latest DVDs. However, they do have a few working computers to use and a DVD selection. Unlike libraries in the areas I've lived where they need to sort of keep up with the demands of the current times, this library will appease them but not break their backs doing so. That is not to say they are without a good inventory, they could alone stock the library with local authored novels. It is really about culture here, they will exhibit contemporary photography and general visual art from locals (which can even include high profile people like Roz Chast) and such a caliber is held with the children's section as well. The outside is also really soothing and to see into the rustic windows. It's something that is easy to underestimate until you've been surrounded by an urban environment where the trees are decorative markers. I think it's a really lovely library that meets the standards of knowledge and pride of the state within their walls. It's hip to be square.

This library is small but mighty. There is a fine selection of popular, current books as well as…read morerandom titles you never knew you wanted to read before. Anything it doesn't have for it's lack of space can usually be found on the Connecticut Inter-Library loan system. The librarians (or the formal book depositorians) are all very friendly, willing to help, and organize some fun activities. Right now there's a month long contest to "blind date" a book (select a wrapped book only by a brief description and complete a review to enter), and there's an almost year long contest to read thirty books from forty different categories. Categories include your parent's favorite book, a thriller, and that book you were actually supposed to read in school. Goshen residents should follow the library on Facebook - events are frequent and varied. It was a lot of fun to meet Laura Bradford, author of Amish cozy mysteries, at the end of last year!

Rather it's the stunning building and interior spaces where you can read a newspaper or do work. Overall, the library has a small town feel - the front desk staff are welcoming and provide any info you might want on things to do in town.

A lot of great programs that are done by the Library. If they don't have the book, there's an association of Hudson Valley Libraries that most likely will and you can either download or borrow it there. I've used the libraries in NYC (NYPL, BPL and QPL) and I was impressed at the scope of the Highland Library as well as the other Hudson Valley Libraries.

Disappointment in policies and service. Would not provide proper receipt for returned items. After…read moretwice given a difficult time about it, and since the library should be a place of enjoyment not an arena for someone to defend their delicate ego, I registered a complaint. Carrying a bag (one I purchased from the Mid-Hudson Library) with my returned items, I would wait until I chose my new items and then return and borrow at the same time. Not to waste time. This brought several individuals spying on me, as if I was some kind of shoplifter. (Something you'd expect at Walmart, though I've never had that experience there.) This began after weeks of patronizing the library on a weekly basis. I assume it was because of my complaint; if not, just another indicator of poor attitude toward patrons.
