The last authentic gay bar in Salt Lake, event nights once a week almost every weekend. Any night…read moreof the week you go in the staff is happy to see you and help you. For a dive bar this place rocks! It's unfortunate their landlords took the parking away. This bar deserves to stay open as one of our only safe places.

I've been a patron of Club Try-Angles for nearly 15 years. Admittedly I haven't been the most…read moreconsistent patron over the years, but in that time I've seen the club slowly, and seemingly very suddenly, devolve from a dive bar with some level of respect for its patrons to a dive bar that's as lost as the current set of bartenders it employs behind its well. Don't get me wrong, I love my local gay dive bar - the patio is prime real estate, the billiards and darts are in playing condition, the dance floor is just the right size to get lost in, and the community is the very definition - but it should not take 30 minutes to get a drink, no matter how cheap the drinks are and no matter how slow or busy the joint gets. The toiles should not be covered in the same shit stains from the day, let alone the weeks(!), before. The speakers should not be so loud that you cannot communicate with the bartender or the person sitting next to you. With that said, I would say Club Try-Angles is actually entering a new "gayday" the likes of which I've never seen - blame it on all the new development around Central 9th and along Harvey Milk Boulevard. The community is more diverse, the crowds are bigger, and the camaraderie is louder! All wonderful things, but things the bar is showing it's no longer in the condition to support. If this staple of the queer community is going to thrive into the next decade, or even survive the next few years, it's going to need more TLC than its currently getting. Small things, like utilizing both sets of patio doors, cleaning the bathrooms, and strategically turning down the music would go a long way in showing that Club Try-Angles cares for its community. Additionally, reorganizing the well to be more efficient would go a long way to improving the time it takes to get a drink. Bartenders should not be bumping into each other in order to make every. single. drink! In this time of growth and change, what I would hate more than ever is for another VC Firm to buy the bar out from under us and put up a parking lot. We deserve to have this space, and we deserve to have this space show up for and represent those of us who claim Pride!

My husband and I went here to see a DJ and had a blast. There was a line when we arrived, but it…read moremoved fairly quickly. The check your bags and pay you down before going in which I appreciate. You walk in and are greeted by the bar then it opens up into the dance floor. Drinks were good and a lot of people were dancing. As the night went on, it did fill up and get really cramped. They have VIP areas where the bottle girls do the little signs and lights if you're looking to celebrate something. Fun vibes and I plan on coming back if there is another event I want to go too. I'm also interested in the rooftop bar!!

But I'm sad to say that tonight will be my last night going to Sky. I was assaulted by a girl who was pushing to the front and I put my elbows up to prevent it and then got shoved and punched in the face. Never thought I would be the victim of assault but alas, here we are. What made the situation worse was Tony, the security guard chose to believe the 22 year old girls who assaulted me instead of me and my shiner, then gaslit me and told me that I must've been the one being the asshole. Sorry to no longer go to a place that usually brings in good djs but I cannot abide the crowd. Super over it. Will not be returning ever, no matter the headliner. One too many negative experiences. Should've stopped a long time ago.

TL;DR: we loved it and will be back. The brunch was tasty and varied. Food quality was good and there was no problem with any of the items. From rib tips to salads to fruit, there is something for everyone. The cooks were friendly and eager to tout an all-new menu put together by JEFFIE. Unlimited servings with all of these offerings was the perfect way to sit out a hot Sunday, though if you prefer sun, the patio has umbrellas and outdoor seating. Decor is eclectic and interesting. Hopefully you get ALLI was your server -- her tales of living in New Orleans accents her personable and timely service. She was incredible and even tells jokes (I'm a sucker for a sense of humor). If you're wanting a drink from the bar, you're in luck -- these guys aren't afraid to make whatever you think you know, as well as stuff you didn't. One of the best selections of alcoholic drinks on a bar that I've seen locally. Ask MONEY what he likes and be m prepared for items such as a PB&J shot or "The Good Boy" (see photo), -- a Bloody Mary with Tajin, fried pickle and bacon. Start him off with a smile by saying "Go Raiders!". He was funny and interesting and a talented mixologist. A trio of musicians (Twisted Brother) was playing and provided fantastic music to groove to. I think a lot of people end up at the Green Pig next door because it's closest to the road but you'd kick yourself later for not going here, especially for brunch on Sundays. I'll be back regularly and hopefully you will too!
