My first experience with Milk Diva was with a lactation consultant named Morgan, and she was awesome! Gave me loads of information and made me feel really comfortable and supported. We scheduled a follow-up appointment for the next week. However, a few days later I was notified via text and email that Morgan was no longer with the company. A huge bummer, but my care was transferred to the CEO of the company Naiomi. At this point I was a bit worried about whether the person who runs the company would really have enough time/availability to handle patients, but I thought it was admirable that she was willing to take on the load of Morgan's patients (like a good leader should!) and we scheduled a time to meet. The problem came the day of our scheduled appointment. It was scheduled for 1pm. Just before 9am on the same day, someone from Milk Diva reached out to me to ask if we could move our appointment up to 12pm instead. I replied that if 1pm no longer worked I'd be open to scheduling a different day entirely since baby had kept me up all night. Their response? That they charge a $120 fee for any appointment changes that are made after noon the day prior to the appointment. Which is exactly what THEY were attempting to do - change my appointment last minute. Milk Diva folks, did you not see how scummy that was that you would tell me I need to pay you to change my appointment last minute when you were the ones who initiated trying to change the appointment last minute? I only offered up another day because YOU reached out to ME to try to change the time, so it seemed a reschedule would be mutually beneficial. Super grossed out by the whole thing, and I will not be scheduling another appointment. read more

We had a great experience with Milk Diva. We first met Naomi during our appointment to address lip and tongue ties with Dr. Poplin. We ended up not doing any releases and just changed the type of bottle we were using. We then had Lindsay come out to our house to help with the bottle feeding, we ended up changing the flow rate of the nipple and that helped so much! I was able to message Lindsay on the app when I had questions and she helped us know if we needed additional help or if it was normal. Our little guy is bottle feeding great due to the change of bottles and learning to follow his lead on things. Lindsay also came for a pump consult as I was considering trying to get a supply back, I ended up not going this route but Lindsay was very helpful with this as well. I had Christin come to my home for about 8 weeks when i was just 4 days post partum, every time i thought i learned it all she had a new trick or way to help me feed my son more efficiently. We are now going on 14 1/2 months of breast feeding. I couldn't have done it without the milk diva team. They also assisted with his lip tie reversal which was a very traumatic experience for me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with Katie Tims. I reached out to be on her radar months before baby was due (highly recommend). I worked with an IBCLC in NYC for #1 so I was prepared and wanted help with #2 in ATX. Katie came to us and was so wonderful, knowledgeable and organized. She had different ideas on how to help us on our nursing journey and I was always comfortable around her. I never felt rushed and baby was never fussy with her. Kay at the Milk Diva is the best! We have worked with her through breastfeeding experiences with both my sons and I can't imagine doing it without her. Both of them had lip and tongue ties, but we didn't have to get them revised because of some exercises she gave us. With my youngest, we were coming off a NICU visit and she did flange sizing for me because it gave me more peace of mind to do exclusive pumping for a little bit. We scheduled in-home visits with Milk Divas right after delivery because it was convenient and they had great reviews; however, we had a very disappointing experience with Isabel the lactation consultant assigned to our region. Breastfeeding was extremely painful for me as a first time mom. During the first visit, Isabel pointed to a milk blister on my nipple and said "hmm that's interesting, it looks like a pimple." I had no idea what a milk blister was until she made that remark and had to google it and bring it up during the next visit before she shared treatments to help me heal it. She also asked me if I knew how I got it. While the treatment she suggested did heal my blister, I would've expected a lactation consultant to be the one diagnosing this type of issue and proactively explaining the cause and treatment instead of me having the bring this up. During the first visit she told us baby's latch looked great, but then the second visit she told us it was too shallow and needed to be improved. I felt like there was a lack of continuity between visits like she didn't remember many details despite taking detailed notes each visit. She also time boxed each weighted feeding at 15 minutes even though I needed to burp and change baby in between and then suggested my milk supply was too low. The most frustrating part was her insisting that my one month old needed to take four ounces each feeding and that I needed to supplement with formula in addition to needing supplements. Our baby gained a huge amount of weight after following this guidance, but I was constantly stressed about my milk supply and it didn't make sense that we needed to feed her so much. After seeing a different lactation consultant it turned out we were overfeeding her and the formula coupled with the overfeeding was causing baby excess gas that kept her from sleeping well or nursing well. Since I was constantly supplementing without being told to pump whenever I gave baby a bottle, it was also decreasing my milk supply in a negative self fulfilling cycle. I still wonder if we had seen a different lactation consultant from the beginning if my breastfeeding journey would have been so much less exhausting and stressful. My friend also used Isabel and had a similarly negative experience, so I know it wasn't just me. read more

I wish I could give Naiomi 10 stars. she was absolutely amazing in supporting me through the feeding struggles with my premie. it is obvious she genuinely cares about the families she's working with. She always asked me about how I'm feeling, and how my quality of life is with our current plan. She really puts moms mental health first and ensures her recommendations fit your lifestyle. she is encouraging, approachable, not judgmental and just overall makes you so comfortable! I've seen a few LC, especially at the hospital, and they felt a little bit judgmental regarding breastfeeding. My daughter had tongue, lip, and both cheek ties. Feeding was very painful and she was struggling to get enough. Kay came to my house three days after I had her and helped me get her all the care she needed. Kay showed me stretches to help and worked on different positions to make things easier for her to eat. We got her oral ties lasered by Dr. Poplin and Naiomi was there at the appointment to go over stretches and help with breastfeeding right after. Before giving birth, I had taken a breastfeeding class and felt prepared. Then when our little one arrived, it was infinitely harder than I expected! The lactation consultant at the hospital struggled to provide any prescriptive solutions and made me doubt myself, and by the time we left we were really concerned about weight loss and managing an intensive triple feeding schedule with no end in sight. I reached out to Milk Diva and got to work with Kay after my daughter was born. I initially had a lot of pain nursing (sharp pains and burning that lasted around the clock), but with some physical therapy exercises for the baby and some pain management techniques for myself, nursing became much more manageable. Kay was a fantastic help, always patient and resourceful and intent on helping me resolve the pain. Christen helped dig me out of a deep hole of despair! My baby was on a nursing strike, my nipples were a mess, and I was over-producing after using a hospital grade pump when my son was in the NICU. We had an LC from another organization come 2 weeks prior and they were the opposite of helpful, and even made things worse. Christen stepped in and worked miracles. Milk Diva was the second lactation consultant I engaged to help me with nursing. I was producing an ounce to 1.5 oz per feeding session or pump after a couple of months with the advice of another consultant. I was disappointed that I was supplementing with formula. Kay Rybiski from the get go was confident that we would be able get my production up and also improve feeding efficiency to my infant. It took a lot of work from Kay, me, and her team to get me to a place where I was able to exclusively breastfeed. Kay identified a tongue tie and referred me to an experienced dentist for releasing the the tongue tie. If you are ready to do the hard work for a few months, Kay will be with you every step of the way. As she is also a nurse, she is very knowledgeable and has had extensive training in addressing tongue ties. This team is incredible and really supportive of new moms. read more

I had such a positive experience working with Christen from Milk Diva. She truly was so supportive and made me feel at ease with her tremendous knowledge and passion for helping mothers with lactation questions. I met with her shortly after my son's birth. She helped me with techniques for pumping, and helped me understand why I was having pain while latching. It was so helpful to have consultations in my own home where we could discuss my questions and try out methods with my baby. She sent detailed and tailored information afterwards so that I could refer back to it later (very helpful when I was sleep-deprived in the middle of the night) She then was a total savior when I developed the dreaded Mastitis. I was in touch with my doctor, however Christen's treatment guidance was aligned with my doctor's but far more detailed, more personalized to my specific needs, extremely effective and her knowledge and tips are what I believe helped me recover! I'll never forget how helpful it was to have an established relationship with her because Mastitis came on fast and as soon as I reached out to her she was in my corner to support me as someone who already knew me and my situation and could quickly advise. I waited until our baby was 6 weeks old before I decided to make an appointment with a lactation consultant. With COVID, I deliberated for a while if it was worth the risk taking our newborn anywhere and luckily I found Milk Diva! Naiomi was available for a video call for our first appointment and within minutes was able to consult one of the reasons why I was having so much pain with pumping. For our following appointments, I decided to go to their North Austin office location after feeling comfortable with Naiomi and team's COVID protocols. Man, I wish I had gone sooner rather than waiting so long to book an appointment with her. With every visit, Naiomi helped diagnose and solve for the "issue of the week" - pain with pumping, oversupply, forceful let down, reflux, overeating, etc. She truly is an expert! I reached out to Naiomi as I read she was versed in tongue ties. I thought with this being my 2nd born son (my first had it too) that I'd be a pro but boy I was wrong. I first met Naiomi when she made a home visit. She was incredibly kind, thoughtful, efficient, knowledgeable, funny and didn't take her self seriously. She did however take her job serious and she was incredibly helpful with providing guidance on having my son's tongue tie revised (it reattached and still limited his mobility thus breastfeeding was still painful and inefficient for my little one). My 2nd visit was to her office in which one of the training LC's was so helpful and kind as well. Naiomi does an AMAZING job giving very educated guidance and instruction whilst instilling confidence into me as a 2nd time Mom. Naiomi was so knowledgeable and caring while helping me with my many breastfeeding challenges. She took the time to observe and explain why I had to do certain things and measured me for a proper flange size when I was pumping to get a higher output. She also helped me with lots of tips and tricks on boosting my supply after it took a dip and provided me with great resources when I had PPD. She was so caring and supportive, a really amazing LC that helped boost my confidence as a first time mom with many challenges. I worked with Christen a couple of times after my second was born. I successfully breastfed my first daughter for 20 months, but it was a huge struggle for the first three months. My second child took to breastfeeding really well out of the gate, but she wasn't sleeping well and I suspected we had GI issues related to breastfeeding. I was sleep deprived and desperate for someone to listen to me and not just dismiss it as "oh well, babies cry" like our pediatrician did. Christen came over and she LISTENED to me. Mamas, I know that sounds crazy but I so needed someone to just listen to me. She showed me some ways we could improve breastfeeding and sure enough things improved. Baby wasn't sleeping through the night, but with Christen's guidance, she was giving us 4 hour stretches that same night we met with Christen, which was way better than the 30 minutes stretches she was doing before. It's like Christen knew I just needed someone in my corner, a cheerleader to remind me that I was doing a great job, even when it felt like I wasn't. I have recommended Milk Diva to everyone I know. Even if you saw a lactation consultant in the hospital, meet with another one because the breastfeeding journey changes at every stage with babies, especially in their first 12 weeks. My little girl is 2 months. I have been successfully breastfeeding her and it's all thanks to Naomi. I had the worst experience at the hospital with the lactation consultant who came to "help" me out. She was inconsiderate and really I was just a patient for her. She just wanted to get done. I was very discouraged and found Naomi online. I spoke with her on the phone and felt good about the conversation. We setup an appointment and she was over. She taught me how to feed, what to look out for and I am so happy now! I told her the pain was killing me and she taught me how to latch right. She was patient and not trying to rush me. If you are having any issues with breastfeeding I highly recommend working with Naomi. She is very positive and the best :). I have had three sessions with her and she has even come over for two additional sessions to check on my baby's weight. She is very passionate about the job and wants to ensure new moms feel confident and happy about breastfeeding. Again I highly recommend working with her for any breastfeeding issues/questions.
