A fun old-timey place to look at random curiosities from around the world…read more Beware, while some of the displays are fun pieces of art, some of it is definitely macabre. Make sure your children aren't squeamish (e.g. there are several displays of shrunken heads and video explaining how it is done. There are several interactive spaces, most notably the spinning tunnel (if you get vertigo, do NOT enter here!) as well as a little play area for kids that ends with a slide. In all, it's easy to spend an hour and you could definitely stretch this into two or more if you like to explore everything in detail. You can bundle tickets to the museum to then go to the mirror maze which is loads of fun (but make sure you keep your hand out in front of you! the mirrors are angled so well that some stretches look like a long hallway when you only have 5 feet in front of you!) - worth it; and they let us bring the stroller in too.

We heard stories from Vietnam Veteran Peter, who was volunteering his time to give a tour and share his personal stories of the war. Thank you to Vietnam Vet, Tom Collins, for starting this museum and providing a place to learn, reflect, and pay respects. There is a chapel and memorial outside along with some military vehicles. Leashed dogs are allowed inside; due to the sensitive nature of the historical items, please use caution while walking through.

We saw the outdoor displays & got out to check them out. My kids were very intrigued by the POW depictions outside. The museum was open and we needed something to do on a rainy day, so we stopped inside. This museum operates by donations only, so you can view it for free, but definitely try and give a donation! This whole place is clearly a labor of love from the disabled Vietnam veteran and his wife who run it, and he was there when we visited and offered to answer any questions we might have. We spent a decent amount of time there and enjoyed looking at all of the exhibits, the children especially enjoyed seeing the booby traps & food rations. Definitely a hidden gem that you should check out while you are in the area. God bless our veterans!

Yes, I've been to Amsterdam and this looks just like them. That's because the Zwaanendael Museum was designed to honor the city hall in Hoorn, Netherlands. The museum exhibits the history and settlement of the southern coast of Delaware. I thought the train lines were very interesting as well as the Delftware on display. Perhaps you missed that Lewes was bombarded by the British during the War of 1812 (there's a house with a cannonball not far away). The museum is free but definitely accepts donations. The Milton Historical Society is located in a former Methodist Church that was originally built in…read more1957. You can still see the original stained glass windows that were installed by the congregation in 1906. The building was purchased by Lydia Black Cannon and donated to house the collection of the historical society. Dating back to 1737 when the first of over 200 ships were built here in Milton. Permanent shipyards turned out sloops and schooners. In the 1920s, the city became known as a button manufacturing capital. Yes, buttons. Workers here cut out blank buttons from abalone and mother-of-pearl imported from the Pacific Ocean in the seven button factories here in town. In the 1880s, the city was known for canning which took over some of the sites that had been used for shipbuilding. By the mid twentieth century, the Draper King Cole Cannery was the largest employer in Milton. I found the museum's exhibit on the 1909 fire to be quite striking. Lots of history, memorabilia, newspaper articles and interviews with locals. There are photographs of the town before and after. The exhibit tries to answer the cause of the fire and even addresses a few of the more intriguing conspiracy theories. Compelling! You can expect to spend about an hour reviewing the museum. Our kids had a great time and learned a lot about the history of the DSP while having some fun and getting their faces painted. Makes you appreciate the sacrifices that the men and women of the state police make to protect the citizens. I would definitely recommend visiting with the family. We will absolutely be back again!

We were greeted by a really nice retired police officer that gave us the history of the museum. The music is free to visit, but they do take donations to help cover operating costs. There are several cars and even some motorcycles. You are allowed to enter and play in the Crown Victoria. My son had a blast turning on the sirens and taking his daddy for a "ride". There was even a trooper hat he got to wear while he was "driving". There are lots of history pieces including the old kits they used for taking fingerprints. It's a pretty decent size and in good shape. Definitely worth a visit either with or without the kids.
