as a local history buff, i love this place. this is the final resting ground for Josh Whitney, the…read moreman who built our town, along with many others like Daniel Dickinson, who was a Senator in the 1840s and 50s. This is also where Issac Perry is buried, the man who designed many local churches, the old inebriate asylum, and the new york state capitol building in albany. He also designed the gates for Spring Forest and his body was the first one to enter through them after he died. there's the mass grave for the victims of the Clothing Factory fire of 1913, along with other graves for civil war veterans and firefighters. take a walk around here sometime, it's a beautiful cemetery and if you bring your smart phone and google some of the names on the more interesting graves you can really learn a lot about our area.

Funeral director was extremely rude. Following the funeral we were directed to file past coffin…read moreand give our last goodbyes... we were suddenly interupted with shouting that there was a time table to keep and to hurry it along. This man also yelled at FAMILY members to exit immediately to their cars and stop loitering and give the family privacy. At the end of the burial service he once again instructed everyone, including family, to leave, the service was over. Total lack of compassion, these people have clearly been desensitized and are in this business for the sole purpose of making money. They are doing no service to the community, especially in the greatest time of need for compassion. On top of the attitude, there was NO parking, and seats were only set up for 50% of the people attending the funeral. The rest of us were instructed to stand.
