Since the areas we rode were in the Pyrenees, I got Mike to soup up my Cannondale with Time clipless pedals, new rims (20s) and a whole new gearing package. Fast forward to today (8/8/2025), my wife and I moved back to Kazoo and were in need of new bikes. So Mike's was the first (and only) place we went to. Mike remembered us. He's still the same affable guy who takes a ridiculous amount of time to make sure he knows you, what you need, and the best bike for you. Cannot recommend him too highly. read more

What a great experience. We went to Mike's to get a bike for my daughter. She hadn't quite learned how to ride without training wheels yet but has outgrown her current bike. Wyatt helped us find the right bike and right size for her. He was extremely patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. Then when we found her bike, they checked everything out on it to make sure it was properly tuned. What I'm also very grateful for is that upstairs they have an indoor track, with softer flooring that my daughter was able to use to try and learn riding her bike. With the softer flooring, I think she was able to focus more on learning and less on fear of falling. We spent over 30 minutes on the indoor track. Once we got home, she couldn't wait to try again. By the end of the afternoon, she had learned to ride her bike. A huge thank you to Mike, Wyatt, and the entire Mike's team for such a professional yet warm and friendly experience. A screw was missing from my shifter so the mounting was loose. The service techs replaced it with what amounts to a wood screw, completely destroying the threads in the hole. But you're shifter is fixed now, right?! Two years ago the service staff was completely different. I was so impressed with how they repaired my bright pink 2008 Yeti AS-R that I bought a new 2018 Yeti SB5+ during the same visit. In the following two years I would take the hour long drive there because I was convinced of the professionalism of their service department. Mike is the worlds nicest guy but I cannot recommend this place any more. read more

Several disappointing experiences all add up to to a one star rating. First, I left a deposit for a bike last year. They had to order the bike as it was a new model year and none had been shipped yet. I came early spring to see about the bike, and they had sold it to someone else. I asked about my deposit, and they showed a "computer correction" on my account removing my deposit from the system. I asked where my refund was at and they told me I must have gotten a check since the computer showed the $$ removed. I was still in need of a new bike, so I looked at their inventory. They didn't have the size I needed, so the owner went downstairs to see if they had it waiting to be assembled. A few minutes later the cashier came up and said the owner told her to come up and tell me they had one, but it needed to be assembled and if I stopped back the next day it would be ready for me. I asked if that meant the owner wasn't coming back to talk to me, she said "yes." I came back the next day to look at the bike they promised to have ready for me. The saleskid was happy to help, but when he was gong to find the bike for ten minutes, I knew what happened. He came back looking embarrassed to have to tell me it hadn't been assembled. I called a bike shop in Kalamazoo. They had the bike in stock in my size, AND it was $100 cheaper than Team Active. I promptly went over and bought it. This brings us to last week. I brought my old bike in for repairs. This was on a wednesday. They told me it would be ready for me "first of the week." I still hadn't heard from them by this week wednesday (today) so I called. The owner told me it was next up and should be ready for me by mid afternoon. I stopped in at 3:30pm and their tech was at lunch. My bike repair still hadn't been started. The repair? A simple "basic tune up" as the tech quoted when I dropped it off. I've had enough. It's unfortunate they are nearly the only game in town for higher end cycling equipment. read more

Renamed "The Trek Bicycle Store." I guess they only carry trek bicycles now. My 1st experience where a store offers beer to customers while they shop or wait for service. Great touch. They wernt able to figure out why my derailur was acting up at first, so they kept my bike u til it was dialed in. Delivered the bike to my house 35 miles away to save me a trip. There are a lot of bike shops near me, but I'll keep going back to these guys. read more

Let me tell you a story about this place. I just moved to Battle Creek and needed to get my girl's bike tuned. I was greeted by Mike Wood and I'll assume he owns the place because he was AWESOME! Not only was he not a pushy guy, but he gave me a tour and even went as far as to educate me on all things bike. I'm a businessman, not a biker. The store itself is very nice, and the staff friendly enough. However the repair department failed me terribly. I brought in my mountain bike to have the front chain rings and the chain replaced. I was told that it would be a few days as they were busy, but I wasn't worried. When I came back to pick up my bike after being told it was finished, I found out that they has only replaced the chain and didn't feel it necessary to replace the chain rings. As the repair was much cheaper, and I thought I could trust their expertise, I was pretty happy, until I got the bike home and tried to go for a ride. As soon as I applied torque my chain skipped on the gear that they said was in alright shape. Now instead of being able to take my bike out, I have to find a place that will do the job requested of them correctly the first time. read more

I can't say enough about Mike Wood and his customer service. We live in California and wanted to buy my dad, who lives in Kalamazoo, a bike for Christmas. Buying a bike over the phone from out of state is not the easiest task in the world, but Mike was so amazingly helpful. He spent so much time with my husband going over the different options at our price point (we are bike novices). He even put a big red bow on it for us to give to him for Christmas. Unfortunately, it was not the bike my dad wanted, so he went to the store, and they gave him a full return, easy process, no questions asked. Unbelievably nice and appreciative. I would have loved for him to get his new bike at The Trek Store (new name), but I will recommend this store from our experience to anyone and everyone looking to make a bike purchase. read more

Mike is extremely knowledgable in everything concerning bicycles. I felt like he fit me to my bike like being fit for a fine pair of shoes, and he delivered it to my home. The only reason I'm not posting a 5 star rating is because of the constant attempts to sell every other bicycle product they had before I finally got out of the door. We finally started joking about it, so I will definitely shop there again because of the knowledge and quality of the products they have, you just have to know how to say NO when you go in there :) read more
