Wow, wow wow!!! the selection of plants perennials and fruit trees is amazing! The hanging baskets and potted plants that are put together are out of this world! Everyone is so friendly and happy to help and answer all your questions. I don't know how they manage sometimes but they do their very best to satisfy all the customers even when they are slammed with customers. I've been shopping at this place for years particularly when I had a garden. I would drive over from Cornelius several times during planting season. Good selection of plants both for the garden and ornamentals for the lawn and good selection of indoor plants as well. A lot of hard to find varieties as well. We just moved to Denver NC which is only about 4 miles away. I started to see advertisements for fall cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, Brussel Sprouts etc. Checked at Lowe's yesterday and they were sold out so I decided to drive over to Mikes. July and August were very hot and dry and it took a toll on Nurseries and Mikes was no exception. They as well as other Nurseries with the exception of Lowe's are holding off on stocking these plants for another couple of weeks. I can wait but will be back. By the Way, as evidences by their sign out front, the do have a sense of humor. read more

We had the worst experience with this company. Save your money and go somewhere else! They planted 2 cherry trees. One died immediately and dealt with Tara about replacing it. She was extremely rude and had to call 10 times and practically beg her to get it replaced. They left a tight plastic tag on the new one that caused holes in the trunk. The following season both trees died after flowering and a professional nursery diagnosed it as a fungal disease. Called the owner because we didn't want to deal with Tara again. He denied it was anything they did wrong and offered to replace one tree. He was so rude and disrespectful he had me in tears after I hung up! I would highly recommend going to a credible nursery that knows how to treat their customers and stands behind their products. I'm getting Pike's Nursery in Cornelius to replace these tress. read more

Lots of plants and trees which is what you would expect. Found exactly what we wanted...Day Lily and Butterfly Plant Some beautiful hydrangeas, but they were already sold. Attendant knew her stuff but not overly helpful. I will try them again next year but earlier in the season. read more

Non-chain local nursery near Denver, NC. Fairly good selection of flowers and trees at reasonable prices compared to chain nurseries. Convenient shopping wagons to carry plants. I visited in early July after the spring planting rush so it was a little bit "picked over." Interesting place with some hydroponic tomatoes growing in a tank connected to a fish tank with koi and gold fish. The girl who helped us was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful when her ear buds were removed. If you like to support small business, do it here. read more

This place is great! So happy I found it. Compared to the other plant places in Charlotte the prices are lower. Compared to your average Lowes or Home Depot, prices are in some cases 50% cheaper and plants seem bigger too. Good selection of ornamental and fruit trees. Great place and friendly staff. read more

We saw the ad and took an afternoon drive from Charlotte to Stanley to check out Mike's. There was a great selection, including a lot of ghost peppers, which are usually hard to find. Loved how there were so many trees, all labeled. Left with a lot of new goodies for our garden! Friendly and helpful service, too! read more

Visited Mike's Growers in February and March of this year. Very nice selection of perennials and trees, and staff was initially very helpful in recommending plants and trees that were to our liking and took into account the environment of our yard. We were provided with photo renderings of what our yard would look like with the selected planting seeds, and were told that, once we agreed on the final selection and placement, Mike's would submit the plan to our HOA. This was at the end of March. We sent an e- mail with our comments as to what changes we would like. And waited for a response. However, none was forthcoming. Went back to Mike's a few weeks later to ask when someone would get back to us, and were told that the landscaping foreman had quit, and that it would take a bit longer before anything could be done. Weeks later, we decided we couldn't wait any longer and we submitted the plan to our HOA on our own. Notified Mike's that we had done this, and received our approval from our HOA, so that Mike's could begin work at any time. We were assured that we would be hearing back from the person in charge of landscaping within a day or two. This did not happen. went back two weeks later and mentioned to Mike himself that no one had gotten in touch with us. we provided our contact info again, and were assured that the landscaping person would get in touch with us. It's now October, and after six months of waiting with no response, have decided to go with another nursery. read more
