The experience with Mike Staff was great from beginning to end. From the first meeting till the post-wedding stuff.. they were super atencious and professional. The people in the office are very nice and helpful through the process of choosing your professionals for your wedding day, making payments, pre-wedding planning, post-wedding music selections... they were great on everything! We hired 2 wedding photgraphers and a videographer. They arrived at the location for pre-wedding pictures on time (actually they were early). They gave us very good direction during the photo/video session. In the house we were getting ready they even moved stuff around to make sure we would have great pictures. On the phone conversation with Ilze, our main photographer, I explained to her the big problem I have about having my eyes closed in most pictures. She listened and made sure to check that she had good shots with my eyes open. She was also very efficient through formal family and romantic pictures to make sure we could have the pictures done within our short time frame ( a bit over 1 hour). She was very friendly and the pictures turned out amazing!! Tracy, our second photographer, also did an amazing job! She took great shots of the guys before the cerimony. I also loved how well she captured the details of the decoration in the reception venue.. the centerpieces, the guest book, the cake, the gift table... all the details we spend so much time planning but we barely get to enjoy during the wedding and now we can remember them forever through her pictures. Patruck was our videographer, he was also very nice, from the phone conversation till the end of the wedding. We still didn't receive our wedding video, but i am 100% sure it will be amazing just like everything that Mike Staff have done. read more

Being able to find the perfect DJ for our needs was a breeze, and DJ Evan made sure we had everything we wanted. We hired Mike Staff Productions to videotape our wedding day last fall, and aside from the venue itself, the Mike Staff Productions videographers were by far the best investment we made that day! We selected the option of having two videographers, since my husband and I were going to be getting ready in two separate homes; this way, a videographer was able to cover each household, capturing sentimental moments of my family, closest friends, and me at my family's home, and my husband with his parents and extended family at his Airbnb. They also recorded footage of us taking photos at our venue (Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, MI) before the ceremony, which was so great to have; those clips show all of our emotions, interactions with each other and our families, and excitement on that day in a way photos alone can't capture! Both videographers (Daniel & Jake) were extremely professional, kind, and easy-going, and at both our homes and the venue, they weaved their way seamlessly into our day and captured all of the big and small moments without us even really noticing they were there! During the ceremony, the videographers stationed themselves at different locations so they could film the wedding from various directions. Their final videotapes, both the short film and full film, were outstanding! Their coverage of the day was thorough and beautiful, and the background music they used for the Mini Movie video was perfect! We were especially impressed with the Director of Videography - Jason Chevatewa - he was very responsive with various questions and edit requests during the months following our wedding, and was very patient and accommodating as we provided editing responses while trying to navigate major life events following the wedding such as deployments, new jobs, and pregnancy. He consistently provided beautiful, updated videos for our review. We came here for a consultation and decided to use them. When we talked to them over the phone they tried to upsell which was expected. When we came in person, the guy we met was understanding and explained all the different options without trying to force us into anything we weren't comfortable with. They seem to have a very good system in place, with on-call backup photographer on weekends if the photographer you selected had some major family event or similar happening. My fiancé and I were considering Mike Staff productions to DJ and potentially photograph our wedding. We made an appointment and visited with a sales consultant who was very knowledgeable and not pushy at all. She explained that they had several DJ's and several photographers on staff to choose from. We watched photo reels of wedding videography and live footage of DJs in action at real weddings. While they presented a nice looking package, my fiancé and I decided to go in a different direction. They seem very cookie cutter and I believe there needs to be more personalization to an event such as a wedding. I would potentially use them for a birthday or holiday party. There are a lot of companies these days that are specializing in so many things, we just want to go with a company that has a distinct specialty. What's next, The DJ-makeup artist- officiant-photographer-videographer-event planner- florist all in one?!? I gave the company three stars only because we received two emails and one text message after our initial appointment. At that point if the couple hasn't reached back out they have decided to go in a different direction. I may be wrong but I don't believe that multiple emails and phone calls are necessary. He is by far the best DJ I have seen at a wedding--I know, I know, I am biased because it was our wedding. I probably am, BUT, DJ Steve Miller played song after song that kept everyone on the dancefloor. Usually, a DJ will play a song that is my "break" song to get another drink, chat with people, use the photobooth, etc., but I never wanted to leave the dancefloor. We did not go with Mike Staff for our wedding because (1) the price of the photography is more than we were willing to pay and (2) the DJs available were not who we envisioned. However, both Eric and another guy (who, cursed!, his name escapes me!) who runs the phones/conducts the meetings were both wonderful, helpful, and energetic. To be honest, if they were available, we would have likely hired them for their DJ services! I think it is very person-specific here. One other bummer is they make themselves entirely unavailable until 1 week before your wedding to discuss what you would like with your DJ. read more

Horrible disappointment. Honestly writing this because nearly a year after our wedding we get letters asking for my opinion of their services, then I look on Facebook at other wedding photos from other photographers and am always heartbroken. I don't have any photos of our wedding on the wall and I'm not sure how many will actually go up. We spent more because we wanted to have those professional photos forever. If that's what you're looking for, you may want to look elsewhere. To top it off the photographer was rude the whole day so every time I see those pictures that's what comes to my mind, not the rest of the amazing moments that was part of our day. My novice sister-in-law took a few pictures of the girls getting ready before the lead photographer got there and they look better than the ones we paid for. Our second photographer was great, so the solo groom and grooms men's pics look great! If we only knew how things would turn out we would have had her as the lead. I will say post the wedding the manager tried to accommodate and even re-take some photos, but it was not the same and unfortunately I honestly think it was a waste of everyone's time. I'd of rather had money back. Our videographer didn't get the clip of our officiant talking once the guests sat down; to be far she got the audio, but the whole section is of the backs of the groomsmen. She also was supposed to get footage of the groom prior to going to the venue, she just didn't show up to the hotel. I'll say our DJ was good. Really liked his mix for dinner, my uncle even mentioned how good he was. After dinner some guest suggested a lot of boy band songs and he ran with that for a bit too long. He was nice and never really left his spot. I would gladly use only this service again, but overall pretty turned off by any use of Mike Staff here forward. In summary, it was nice that the company set up someone to take the place of the initial photographer that we selected when she was injured, but I could have had a family member do a better job. You don't talk to your actual photographer/videographer/DJ until a couple weeks or maybe just the week before the wedding. It would be a far better practice to meet those people ahead of time, not just the salesperson at the office. There is only one shot to get it right, so go somewhere you will know how you and everyone that will be there on your big day vibe together. My husband and I hired them to DJ our wedding last year. The consultation was MUCH better than the actual execution by a long shot!! We told them off the bat what we wanted and they made it seem like it was no problem whatsoever. But, after we paid the deposit, they literally fell off the face of the earth. it was extremely difficult to get ahold of them, and after a few tries they sent me an email with the DJs number and said to call him a week before the wedding. That did not sit well with me and boy was I right!! I only talked to him once for like ten minutes and he was short with me and pretty much said to email him a list of songs and expectations and he would take it from there. Well, on the day of, he played the incorrect entrance song and only played like five of the songs I specified on my list. When we asked him to play more of them, he said he didn't have anymore. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!! such a joke!!!!!! Needless to say, one of my cousins had a CD and we gave that to the DJ to play all night. For the EXPENSIVE price of the DJ, I expected much better service. Let's PARTY!!! I'm buying! Wheeee. My daughter and the new SIL chose this place along with the assistance from my wife for their DJ and Videographer service. We couldn't have been happier with the results. The DJ. The feedback from all of the guests was outstanding in that they had never seen such a more professional DJ than was at my daughters wedding. My opinion is this. It was very seamless. I actually didn't even notice how well he was doing. I thought he was good because the wedding isn't about the DJ, it's about the bride and groom. I have been to other receptions where the DJ is overpowering likes its his show garnering a lot of attention. I liked how they sent you ahead of time lists to fill out on your music preferences. Even though they're the professionals, they need your feedback so they play the songs you want to hear and the songs you don't want to hear. The Videographer. Outstanding!!! He was everywhere. I actually ran into him in the bathroom, thank god he didn't have the camera there. He got all the right shots. I am writing this review on behalf of my sister and new brother in-law. They choose Mike Staff Productions to DJ their wedding and after the night was over there was no doubt in my mind or the guests mind for that matter that they made the right choice. I had the pleasure of attending the first meeting at the MSP headquarters where we picked out the DJ for their wedding. Eric and the staff were beyond accommodating and walked us though a very thorough process of picking out the DJ adding in details that were not in their profile videos as we went along. In fact it was one of those details that lead us to choose Derek as the DJ for the wedding (He uses old school turntables and live mixes some of his sets). We were not disappointed. He spent more than two hours on the phone with my sister and her husband the week before the wedding ironing out the details and was available via text message anytime they or a family member had a song they wanted to add to the request list. The day of the wedding he effortlessly accommodated last minute changes including wireless microphones for the officiant (it was a windy day) and looping more music for the seating of the guests as we waited for more to arrive because of traffic. Derek's personality put everyone at ease, the blend of dinner music he choose was absolutely perfect and the dance floor was constantly full from start to finish (4hrs) a first for a wedding I have attended. His ability to live mix popular songs into streams of dance sessions did not go unnoticed by the older and younger generations. There were a number of guests and close friends who said this was hands down the best DJ and dancing experience they have witnessed at a wedding and when the last song was played we did not want the musical adventure to end. My husband and I were very disappointed with Mike Staff, particularly Marty the DJ. His music playlist was not up to date and the transition in between songs was awkward and uncomfortable. It had our guests feeling like "ok, what's next?" However, when I gave him the recommended songs to play, that's when guests were staying on the dance floor. The music wasn't loud enough. The DJ was our biggest regret and I knew it would be as soon as I spoke to him the Monday before our wedding. He did not know what a traditional Lebanese dance was. This is difficult for me to write because I never write bad reviews but I want to warn other brides and families out there so they are not as hurt and disappointed as my sister was. I was the maid of honor in her wedding and she used Mike Staff Productions. The DJ did a great job but the photos were beyond disappointing. My sister was very organized and had set aside almost two hours for photos before the ceremony. We were not running late in fact we were ready early. Mike had such bad time management he wasted almost all of that time. We ended up with only one picture of the girls and half of us are seated. Just the one photo. In one pose. That's it. The men's photos were taken by the second photographer and they had less time for photos but they had so many shots both seated and standing, inside and outside while the women have one photo. For the bridal party together he only took one photo as well. Picture this - half of the bridal party sitting but with more people on the left side than the right side. The bride and groom are not even in the center and therefore not in the 'window'. The groom is literally standing behind someone. I brought up several times that we were uneven and the bride and groom were not centered and he told me not to worry about it, and was condescending. That is the one and only picture my sister has of the bridal party. We were a party of eight so we were not difficult to pose. When my sister finally got her photos there were many that were included that were blurry and underexposed and not in an artistic way. I did notice that there were a couple of times that Mike's hands were shaking and once he was visibly sweating (it was a winter wedding), maybe he was ill that day? Either way the quality of the photos he took were not acceptable. My sister to this day cannot even talk about her wedding without getting upset and crying over the photos. Please think twice when booking Mike Staff Productions!! I don't want to see anyone else go through what my sister did. read more
