Dr. Walker has treated my family for 23 years. I began going to him after I had a traumatic dental…read moreexperience with another dentist. Dr. Walker was very gentle, caring, and understanding of my concerns. I had such a tremendously positive experience that I didn't hesitate to take my then-toddler first child. The patience and kindness that he exhibited with my son was irreplaceable. We have been loyal to Dr. Walker ever since. He always remembers what the kids are up to and asks about their activities, school, and life in general. He is such a pleasant caregiver. All four of my children absolutely love him!! I would absolutely suggest him for anyone looking for a doctor. Sara Wilcox

This is first review of Dr. John P. Walker Dentistry. Why, you might ask? Because in general, I…read moredespise dentists. Not the people, but the work. With someone who was born with horrible teeth, it can be a terrible experience, each and every time I am sitting on the dentist chair. I discovered Dr. Walkers office and I couldn't have been more pleased. The office staff and Dr. Walker are the nicest, funniest, and most calming people I've ever met in a dentist's office before. Not only do they understood my angst for the profession, but actually made me feel relaxed and gave me a simple explanations of how I was going to be fine.. The dentist? The big man himself is amazing. I had several appointments through the years, regular cleanings and then some dreaded maintance and they couldn't have been more of a joy to work with. Dr. Walker was the nicest man who took his time understanding my needs (and wants) and also was able to work on my teeth in a way that did not frighten me. I may be well into adulthood now, but childhood nightmares still haunt me in those offices. He was caring, never pushy, and I can't believe I'm saying this .. a dentist I enjoy seeing. That may be the first time that's ever come out of my mouth. Dr. Walker and his Staff are great. They are very compassionate very reasonable for x-rays and cleaning. They're awesome. The office is very convenient for those near West Hills area,.located in the Southmont area

My dental insurance was billed for a "routine exam" when I visited this office for an extraction…read more When I called to ask why I was told that the time during which the Dr. and I discussed the procedure was the "exam." When I came to this office I had records with me from my regular dentist who had performed my exam less than two months prior. Later in the year when my regular dentist performed my second exam of the year that should have been covered by my insurance, it was rejected due to the oral surgeon's office billing for an "exam" that did not take place. I was left responsible to pay for the actual exam that was rejected.

The doctor seems to be knowledgeable and was wonderfully honest with me…read more Know that even if he cannot do the work, however, that it will still be a $75 consultation fee, even if he only spoke with you for 10 minutes. I understand that that is the norm everywhere, but had the staff been a bit more knowledgeable about the way the doctor operates (no pun intended, in this case), I could have avoided that unnecessary fee. Just know this all ahead of time and you'll be fine. If you feel it necessary to read the full event, continue on: My only complaint is that before even making an appointment I had told the staff that I would only be in town for 6 days, and that I had a blocked salivary gland that would require a bit of mild surgery, asking if it would be able to be taken care of while I was in town (under a 6 day time frame). I was told, sure, come on in, the doctor would decide what to do. They were kind and good enough to schedule me for the mild surgery on the same day of the appointment (a Monday). In meeting with the doctor on Monday, however, I find out that he uses actual stitches to create less of a scar (I respect that entirely), but that he therefore needs to see me again a week from now, to take the stitches out and to see that it has healed properly, which is not a possibility in my case. Also, to my own detriment I had popped the little saliva bubble a few days earlier, which was a calculated risk on my part because the bigger the bubble is, the larger the incision to remove it is = the more risk of loss of feeling to your lip and a larger scar = not at all what I wanted. So I should not have done that. My bad.
