I filed a small claims court suit against Phil and won the judgement but he did not pay the settlement during the timeline designated by the court and made no arrangements to pay me back. I am posting this review to warn consumers about Phil Reed and his company, Reed Builders, Bellaire, Michigan. It was hard to find any reviews except testimonials on Reed Builders when checking him out. I hope this will prevent other potential customers and senior citizens like myself from getting involved with Phil Reed.

We cannot establish a relationship without receiving the help. This is a missed opportunity for Durkie to receive a long standing business relationship. Maybe this company is busy enough to turn away work. We understand that a possible maintenance service from this company would establish a customer base but they just lost any future business. Also, if we were customers we were quoted $425 just to dispatch an emergency call. This seems excessive, but we were willing to pay it. The service tech did offer to come out tomorrow (Monday). How would tomorrow make us a customer? Unfortunately, there is just not an interest in working.

I called him and he said it will need a new pump. He quoted $1,000 for a $700 pump and $300 for labor. Meanwhile my grass is dying and turning brown. He couldn't find the Goulds pump but said he would find a different pump that would work just fine and charge me the same amount. I asked him to send me what pump it would be. He sent me a picture of a $600 well pump. I question how this would work and mentioned that flotec's sprinkler pump is only $250 at home depot and $350 at Ace. He then said sorry I sent you the wrong picture and would only charge $800. Now he's getting $650 for labor which doesn't add up but i said fine because my lawn was dying. He said he would be over in the morning and never showed up. After not responding to text and calls he finally text me at 5pm saying he is unable to do the job. He tried to scam me and then litterally left me high and dry. I would not trust this guy.

We recently hired Bob for an ambitious painting project as we prepared to move our older parents…read moreinto their new home, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. A veteran who recently started his own painting business, Bob was at our project almost every day, often working long hours to make sure every detail was perfect. What set him apart was not just his painting, but his willingness to go above and beyond. With his background in electrical work and general construction, he offered help on projects outside of painting and even became my point man for meeting and coordinating with other trades. Since I was managing much of the work remotely, Bob kept me updated with regular photos and flagged questions whenever decisions were needed. He also helped solve unexpected challenges--like coordinating a fix when our new appliances arrived an inch too tall for the cabinets. Bob's dedication, reliability, and problem-solving made what could have been a stressful process smooth and manageable. I would highly recommend Bob and his business to anyone looking for outstanding workmanship and someone you can truly count on.
