Mike is a realtor extraordinaire. He helped me purchase a house with my then husband in 2014 and six years later helped us sell that house at a profit! Selling a house during a pandemic was difficult enough, but also selling it while going through a divorce made it extra complicated. Mike expertly balanced information and needs of both my ex-husband and myself and made sure we were able to get the buyer we needed at the time we needed. Love him! Thanks for everything, Mike! read more

Mike has helped me on 1 rental and 2 sales. He walked me through the process on both sales. On the condo sale he helped me with the negotiations against a very tough opposing agent. He led the way to a fair and quick sale. On the frame 2 flat which was an estate sale involving other family members he gave great advice, spent a lot of phone time with me and got a price better than expected. I recommend Mike whether you are a 1st time buyer or seller or a seasoned real estate professional. He gives great advice, pro and con and lets you make the final decision. Great personality and great to work with. read more

Mike made my sale so painless, while I was not in Chicago the entire time. The whole process is smooth and Mike managed it with a very professional yet personal manner. He gave a lots of thoughts in my situation, detailed preparation before the sale and communicated it along every step. His experiences and pay attention to detail attitude helped to sell my condo very quickly, with price point I like. One of the best agents out there! read more

I was introduced to Mike Checuga through a friend about 2 years ago. He took us to many different properties of different types and walked us through the entire process of buying a home in this market. He introduced us to people who could help us find a mortgage, and when one said "sorry", he introduced us to another. Ultimately, being self-employed, and with the changing currents in the mortgage markets, we were unable to do work out the "numbers". Mike was not deterred and stayed in contact with us regularly for a year and a half, showing us other properties along the way even though he knew we were unable to purchase them. Finally the financial picture changed for the better, and we were ready to look again for real. He held our hand through the entire process (and it is a process) telling us what to expect at each step. We finally purchased the home of our dreams! We were discouraged many times these past 2 years, but Mike really did want to honestly help us to realize our dream. I highly recommend this guy! Thanks Mike Checuga read more

My wife and I are serial rehabbers (3 homes in 4.5 years). After a few bad experiences with our previous Broker/Agent (which i will not discuss here) Mike was given to us via referral by a close friend. He is no BS and very professional. In our initial consult, Mike came prepared with comps and a very good estimate of what he thought our place was worth (about $10k more that we had estimated). We promptly listed the property and had a signed contract in our hands in just over 8 days time with a price within $7k of our asking price. A net $3k win for Checuga (and us too, of course)! Oh, and did I mention communication? I never felt in the dark about anything. He kept everything on track all the way to the closing table and we were always in the loop. Going forward, we will be using Mike for any and all real estate transactions and recommend him to anyone we hear that is in the market to sell or buy. In summary, do yourself a favor and work with Mike Checuga. You will not be disappointed. read more

I have referred several clients to Mike over the years. I always call the client after closing to see how things went. They get RAVING reviews every time. Mike helped me find a place for me and my folks (the first and second places I've ever bought) and both times things went great. I didn't feel any pressure to look at or spend time on places I wasn't interested in, and Mike even helped with things above and beyond, after the the purchase was done and complete. Would be very glad to use Mike again if I ever buy again. read more

I had been working with an agent before contacting Mike. The agent and I basically dove into the search without any initial meeting. Remember, this was going to be my first home purchase and I had limited knowledge about the process. We saw a few places, but I didn't feel confident about what I was doing. After a couple of weeks I suspended my search and decided to rent. That is when I remembered that Mike Checuga lived in the building in which I was also currently residing. I thought I would give it a second shot before throwing in the towel. I contacted Mike and he wanted to meet with me in person before actually starting the search. The very first think Mike did when he and I sat down for the first time was to give me an overview of the entire process from start to finish and what to expect. It seemed overwhelming, but with Mike's expertise and his network of professionals the process could not have gone smoother. He brought things up that I did not know had to be done. For example, he asked if I had a real estate attorney. I was not aware that I would need one, but mentioned that he knew a good one that he had worked with before and he put me in contact with the attorney. He also found me a mortgage broker who worked hard and fast to get me to closing in a very short time period. In terms of the search, Mike was thorough. He found a unit in a building that the other agent had overlooked. I'm so glad he found it because it is the unit I ended up purchasing. The thing I really appreciated about Mike is the fact that he was there to support me through the entire process. He set up meetings to get access to the unit when I had concerns or needed to take measurements. He accompanied me each time even though he didn't need to. Mike helped me ask for the things I wanted in a professional manner. Also, even though Mike is not required to be directly involved in my interactions with the mortgage broker and real estate attorney he consistently checked in with me to make sure that things were running along smoothly. He made calls, sent emails, sent texts to both the broker and attorney on my behalf. Finally, once I was under contract and the closing date was set Mike offered to give me a ride to the closing in Schaumburg as I do not drive. He was more than generous with his time and to top it off, he is extremely friendly, laid back and gets things done in a professional manner. No joke, if it were not for Mike I would currently be paying the same amount per month renting a one bedroom as I am paying now as the owner of a two bedroom in a high rise with the most amazing view. If you're on the fence, give Mike a shot! read more

I was introduced to Mike by a friend and didn't know what to expect. I was a first time home buyer and work in a sales position, so I knew my income was going to be an issue. MIKE WAS FANTASTIC He took the time to explain everything, and did so in a manner that someone who wasn't in the industry would understand. He helped me re-define my search, target my personal "wants," and introduced me to a team of individuals that allowed me to go from a viewing to close in just over two weeks. He made sure I knew exactly what was happening and even coached me on what to expect after the sale. Finally, he made sure I was not only happy with my purchase but also knew going into the sale particular issues I might have when I decide to sell. It made the whole experience more pleasant and certainly less stressful than A LOT of my friends when "their guy" is helping them buy property. I recommend Mike to everyone who asks me about real estate and I'm pleased by the fact he continues to maintain our relationship. read more

Mike was referred to us by other friends who worked with him and had a very positive experience. We first worked with him when looking to purchase a new condo in 2012. Mike was so professional and knowledgeable from the beginning and all the way through the home buying process. Mike met with us, found out what we wanted in the unit, what type of buildings we were interested in, what neighborhoods we were open to. He listened and the research and properties he lined up for us to see showed that. We found a property we wanted pretty quick after starting to look. Mike stuck with us through the whole buying process. He provided input, answered our questions, ran interference with the seller's realtor and condo association when needed. He was in constant communication which during a high stress time helped to make us feel more comfortable and informed. Our experience with the purchase of our condo went so well that we worked with Mike two more times. Mike helped us with the rental of our previous property and then again when we decided to sell it in 2013. During each of these experiences, Mike was professional, connected, communicative, on top of all of the details, and pleasant to work with. We have referred others to Mike and will continue to do so. We will continue to work with him for any real estate transactions that we may have in the future. read more

Mike is awesome! This is first time buying a property in my life. Mike made it a lot easier than it appeared to me before. He is very responsible. You can reach him easily though plenty of ways ( emails, text, phone calls extra) and he is very responsive. For a buyer like me, who constantly work over time and always require change of appointment schedule, it is very important (unless you want pressure in addition to those you got from work) and he handled it very well, which I think its not easy to accomplish. I saw a lot sellers' agent being late for appointments or even cancel them at last min. Dont know how much damage and loss of chances they have done to their sellers. Mike is very resourceful and professional. He laid out all steps (including fees, procedures) up front so you wont get surprised during the process. He also have a lot connections in related businesses too, like real estate lawyers, home inspectors... This saved me a lot of troubles. In my after buying research, I found all the service Im getting is very reasonably priced. Also, for the first property in my life, it's not gonna be an expensive place at all. As we all know, agents' commission are based on the price of the deal. During the whole process, I felt the respect and care from Mike's professional service. The other thing I want to mention here is he is very easygoing in person. you can basically talking about anything with him, which makes every weekend house hunting such an relaxing and fun experience for me. I would recommend him to all people I know that have buying intentions. If there are changes in my life that require selling or buying, I will definitely rely on Mike again! read more
