The hygentists and assistants strike me as incredibly competent. Dr. Skasko runs on time and he was able to fit me in on an emergency basis to get a crown replaced before I left for vacation. I felt completely at ease in his chair and the process was without any pain at all. My husband goes to Dr. Skasko and also commented on what a painless experience it is. Also, Dr. Skasko made a cosmetic improvement to my husband's teeth so the little gap between his two front teeth was finally closed in time for our wedding :) Can't endorse this dental practice highly enough. Lack of Concern and a Dentist Way Too Busy!…read more First off let me start by saying the dental hygienists in this office are fantastic. Laura especially has been wonderful to work with and I am sad that I won't be seeing her anymore. The staff is always left to apologize for Dr Backiewicz because he never has time to answer questions or provide advice. He comes in the room for maybe a minute then he's jetting out even if you are talking to him. His poor staff is always saying "I'm sorry he had something come up or he's running to take care of something." He's always too busy. Before my recent horror with this doctor I have only gotten cleanings so it wasn't that big of a deal. I should have read the writings on the wall because it was clear that if I needed him he would not be there. Here is the horror that made me say no more: On Wednesday night I had a severe tooth ache. Anyone who has experienced this knows the pain is brutal. I got no sleep at all. First thing Thursday morning I call Dr Backiewicz's office. I tell them that I have an emergency and would like to be seen. I get an appointment for 11:30am (earliest I can be seen). I get there and the dental hygienist (not Laura) asked where the pain was and does an x-ray and leaves out of the room. She comes back after a few minutes and says Dr Backiewicz will be in soon. He arrives after a few minutes. He uses a mirror and the little tool that is sharp at the end and looks at my tooth for about 25 seconds. He never looks at the x ray but I can bet that my insurance will get a bill for that. His exact words were "make sure you spend a little extra time flossing between the last back two teeth, take some motrin and use Listerine." As I mentioned I am in excruciating pain and I know something is wrong so I wanted to ask more questions. I asked him were my gums swollen. He tells the dental hygienists just some Motrin and walks out. He never answers my question. The dental hygienist says "you're all set." I'm thinking - What!!? Had he asked me questions he would have known that I had been taking extra strength Tylenol all night and it had not been working. Something is wrong. We all know when something is not right with our bodies. I asked the dental hygienist would he be giving me a prescription for the Motrin and she had to go find him to ask him because of course he had already jetted out of the room. She comes back and she says said no just get it at the drug store. I am in so much pain at this point I am willing to try anything. I run to Walgreens and buy Motrin and Listerine praying that it works. Needless to say it does not work. Something is wrong and I know it is. All day Thursday I am in pain. Friday I am still in pain. I call Dr Backiewicz's office again and I tell them that Motrin and Listerine are not working. The office manager tells me that we are only here another 30 minutes (they leave early on Friday) so there is nothing that we can do for you now and due to the Memorial Day holiday we won't be back until Tuesday. I am almost in tears at this point. She then tells me to go to urgent care and see what they can do. I was in their office on Thursday and they did absolutely nothing but she is telling me to go to urgent care. At this point it is clear this lady does not care one bit. She is looking forward to her long weekend and really doesn't have time for my problems. By Friday night I can no longer take it. I call 1-800 DENTIST to see if there is a 24 hour dentist in my area and of course there are none. Long story short I found a dentist that took me early Saturday morning. Dr Gerda from Fixari Family Dental in Canal Winchester is amazing! She quickly analyzed my issue - sinus infection that she said was clearly there and an easy fix. She prescribed my an antibiotic and pain meds and in a matter of 2 hours I was feeling better. She gave me her cell phone number and said if I am not improving to please call her. New Albany Family Dentistry showed no concern for me. Dr Backiewicz is too busy and does not have the time to take to thoroughly investigate what an issue may be to give the proper diagnosis. To top the whole thing off - I called Tuesday morning and cancelled all of my appointments (cleaning every 6 months and fillings that I later found out that I don't need) with New Albany Family Dentistry because I will for sure never step foot in this place again and the office manager never asked me why I was cancelling. I asked her to cancel every single appointment and she said "ok we will get you taken care of." Total lack of concern. Stay far away from this place!

The office relocated a few years ago from the original Stoneridge location in Gahanna. I'm a regular if you can be one. I have to get my teeth cleaned 3-4 times / year because I have excessive tartar...its genetic. I've been to 5 hygienists in there and each one has been trained well. They are extremely cordial, knowledgeable, upbeat, and always looking to please the patient. When I get my teeth cleaned, I lay on a warm lavender pillow and if I'm cold, they give me a blanket. Who knew you could fall asleep while getting your teeth cleaned? They can use the ultrasonic on you, but also uses the old-fashioned scraper thing for your teeth if you can't handle the high-pitched tones. On some days, I can't handle it. I also had my mercury amalgams removed and this was painless and well worth it. And lastly, I've recently upgraded my crowns. The whole process from start to finish was seamless. They made the molds, made the temps and then sent me over to the lab to get custom ceramics. And then promptly called me to 'seat' them. My teeth have never looked more perfect. If only I give up the coffee and wine, then they would look even better!
