My husband and I have been going to Johnson Dental without issue since we moved to this area 3 yrs…read moreago. I took my 3 kids to Johnson Dental in March 2024, my kids were 7, 5, and almost 2 yr old at the time. The experience in the exam rooms was fine, but my 1 yr old was at the dentist for the first time and she was very upset to be there. She was uncooperative and crying so her visit went quickly, I held her arms while Betsy brushed her teeth, applied fluoride, and talked to us but neither Dr Aaron or Dr Kristi examined her. Betsy told me she could see there were no issues or decay etc. and my child was so terrified there wouldn't be much a dentist could do anyway. We go out to Skye, one of the billing people, and I'm told I owe $148. I'm shocked by this- we have insurance and general check ups are covered. She then told me that my 1 yr old child isn't on my insurance. I am again shocked, and question it. Skye tells me, "Yes I'm sure. I found out last week and called to make sure. I even had Dr Kristi check to make sure." I express my disbelief that she couldn't do me the courtesy of calling me to inform me of this- she knew this information way ahead of this appointment. She reminds me that legally patients are in charge of knowing their insurance plans and who's covered. I understand that, however you're providing a service and you get paid either way- whether I pay or my insurance pays. Couldn't you do the customer a favor and inform them by a quick call or voicemail?? I later inform them what Skye told me. I am informed that no one knew this information beforehand and "We would have spoken to you about this. We never have and never will ignore something this important." So they're obviously covering for themselves and that's that. Why would I choose to pay out of pocket 150 dollars for a 1 yr old child to essentially get her teeth brushed and applied fluoride?? Even if she were cooperative there is not much a dentist can do for this age. I get the details of what I'm being charged for and the main part of the bill is for the exam performed by Dr Aaron. What exam?? My 7 and 5 yr olds were seen by Dr Kristi that day. Dr Aaron did not examine my 1 yr old. When I told them this I figured they'd say it was a billing mistake and correct the bill, but no. They insist the exam was performed (btw I never left the room, my daughter would have freaked out even more) and insist I pay for a service that was not provided. I'm just appalled by this place and their dishonesty. We will never go back there. They lost the business of a loyal family of 5 because of all this

One of the most disrespected place I have ever been to. I have been going to this since 4/10/2018…read more For this whole time this place was nice and provided a great service. They had different receptionist at the time I was going there and I would talk up a storm on how I like this place and you guys treat me well. It felt like they were treating me as family so I recommended my wife come here and have them be our main dentist. Until today, I have never been more disrespected like I was the worst person in the word. How hurt can I be from the way the manager and the new receptionist Heather had treated me over the phone. I called in stating I have tried to make an appointment for some pain I been having and after I had a crown installed in November 2020 and I have not gotten any responses from them at all. One appointment made on 8/2/2021 and another on 8/19/2021 after both have no responses. Today is 9/23/2021 and yet to hear from them. When calling I talked to Heather and she states I am the once that checks those appointments and she will check. I then was put on hold (with no apologies) and then the Manager picked up the phone and stated, "Hi, it looks like you need to make an appointment?" I was like, yes, but I have an issue with the fact that you guys have not responded to my online appointment request that stated I am in pain from a crown that you have installed, and is this your normal practice.. and she said no. She continued to set up an appointment and she said you are all set to go. I was like that is fine, but is anyone going to address the fact that I made two online appointments and I have been ignored. I paused... no answer, I begin talking again stating, is any one going to apologize? The manager states, you keep talking over me... at this time, I have yet to talk over her but she claims that is all I did??? What? This is a business trying to turn a customers words around and lie? At this point, I am more than upset and disrespected after again, I asked for an apology and then it was like a 20 sec pause from her after my question, So I said hello, are you going to say anything? She states ,I was waiting for my turn? At this time, I stated, I already asked you the question she stated, it looks like we will not continue with your dental needs. I stated, you want to end my dental needs because you don't want to apologize I stated I am coming in to talk with the owner. Unfortunately when I got there, they didn't give me that option, I stated thanks for seeing me and right out of the bat, they are ending my dental needs with them as I am recording this manager. I recapped on the call how she treated me and she step up to me trying to cover my phone as I was recording her responses telling me I wont let her talk.. she had the time to apologize on the call, she will not have anything else to say when opening up with canceling me as a patient. I am not sure what is up with these people but they didn't this to my wife as well and never apologize for her first online appointment was never accepted twice. Proof I never had any responses will be in the image of my email and the fact that I have extreme pain on the tooth they fixed. Clearly the wife and husband that run this company don't care, since they didn't want to talk to me about how their employees acted.

Do not recommend! Go…read moresomewhere where they actually update your account according to what you tell them. I had told the office that a secondary policy had been cancelled. Then, because someone 'didn't remember' I had told them that, the inactive policy information was left on my account. Later, I was pressured to schedule work to be done by the end of the year because they said I had money left in my benefit... from the policy I told them was cancelled... I had no idea that was the policy they were referring to. Long story short, I'm on the hook now for a huge bill that they would have known wasn't covered if they had done proper clerical work and removed the secondary policy information from my account when I told them it was no longer active. Very, very disappointing! UPDATE1/21: They emailed this morning and are mad that I shared my experience, so are adding an amount they had adjusted off, back onto the bill. What a great place!

Before I Found Dr. Derksen For more than twenty years, I…read morestruggled with a difficult digestive autoimmune condition. As I entered my fifties, my health declined rapidly. I was chronically dehydrated, malnourished, weak, and exhausted. Even simple tasks like cooking or getting dressed required enormous effort. I felt like a fifty-year-old trapped in an eighty- or ninety-year-old body. There were days when I felt so fragile and depleted that I no longer felt like living at all. My visits to conventional doctors left me discouraged. Because of insurance limitations, I couldn't even get routine blood tests every year. Appointments were rushed, and I was often handed mental-health questionnaires instead of being offered real medical guidance. Deep down, I knew something was profoundly wrong with my body, yet I felt dismissed, misunderstood, and invisible. In desperation, I searched for alternatives--and finding Dr. Salwa Bakkali-Derksen became the turning point that gave me hope again. How Dr. Derksen Helped Me Reclaim My Health From the moment I met Dr. Derksen, something shifted. She listened--truly listened--with patience, empathy, and complete attention. She immediately ordered comprehensive testing, which revealed that my testosterone level was essentially zero, explaining my severe fatigue, depression, muscle loss, and bone decline. With confidence and precision, she started me on hormone replacement therapy with estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Within weeks, it felt as though someone had turned the lights back on inside me. My energy, clarity, and joy began to return. Under her guidance, I began exercising regularly and nourishing myself properly. She performed a body composition analysis and ordered a bone scan, which showed severe osteoporosis--far too early for my age. Instead of leaving me in fear, she took immediate action, consulted with endocrinologists at Mayo Clinic, and developed a thoughtful plan to rebuild my bones and restore my strength. Joining her practice has been one of the most important decisions of my life. I now receive regular monitoring, meaningful follow-up, and a level of care that addresses my whole health--body, mind, and long-term well-being. For the first time in years, I feel like I have a real chance to live fully again. Why Dr. Derksen's Care Represents the Future of Medicine Working with Dr. Derksen has shown me what modern healthcare must become. Today's greatest health burdens--heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune illness, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, and cancer--are chronic conditions that slowly take away vitality long before they end a life. Based on my experience as a post-menopausal woman and current clinical research, hormone imbalance significantly increases the risk of these diseases. Restoring balance is not optional; it is foundational to preventing long-term decline and protecting brain and metabolic health. The traditional medical system is designed to react after disease appears. The future must be proactive: early detection, continuous monitoring, balanced hormones, good nutrition, muscle strengthening, and lifestyle support. This is exactly the model Dr. Derksen practices. By stepping outside insurance constraints, she removes barriers, looks for root causes, and empowers her patients to reclaim their energy and well-being. A Message From My Heart Life is the most precious gift we are given, and each of us has only one chance to live it. Without health, we are not truly living--we are merely existing. Too many people wait until it is too late, regretting that they ignored early warning signs or postponed care because of cost or insurance limitations. No amount of savings can bring back lost vitality. I encourage everyone to take ownership of their health long before illness forces the issue. Work with physicians like Dr. Derksen--doctors who look deeper, focus on prevention, and are dedicated to restoring strength and clarity. I am forever grateful for the second chance at life she has given me.
