Thai iced tea

I've been here several times this summer for their summer market. They have several vendors/tents selling various foods varying from fresh produce to drinks and savory foods to desserts. The meat skewers are always delicious and hot off the grill. During the hot summer, the Thai noodle soup wasn't particularly popular, but today was cold and the line was very long for piping hot noodles. You can choose between chicken and pork, and the pork came with a piece of very tender pork rib, meat balls and a slice of pork. The condiments include chili powder and chili oil. Beware, the chili oil is hot! Just one drop was enough to give a good kick. I think they must make it themselves since it smokey and had a good depth of flavor. The papaya salad was very popular during the summer but less so during the chilly morning today. It comes in three heat levels- none, mild, and hot. The heat does build over time as you eat it, so it gets pretty spicy at the end. There was a lot of fish sauce in it, so avoid if you're not a fan. The green curry noodles was just ok. The rice noodles were a bit overcooked, and I guess they don't heat up the noodles before serving because some were cold. It was pretty fragrant with slices of fish cake and herbs. I don't think that I would get it again. The pre-prepared foods were lovely. I had coconut sticky rice stuffed with taro that were wrapped with banana leaves, and red curry fishcake. I also had pork and mung bean sticky rice in banana leaves, which were delicious. I will be coming back for more! Tips: Bring cash. The market starts at 9:30 am, and that's the best time to go as the popular foods will run out. Parking can get a bit busy, so you can also find parking in the residental street about a block away.

I absolutely love coming here for the Sunday food market that takes place a twice/month in the warmer months. When you are walking around the food stands you feel like you're actually in Thailand, not metro Detroit. The food is phenomenal, authentic, and there is such a wide variety to choose from. The market has gotten very popular and gets packed quickly so I recommend getting there right when they open at 10am to avoid lines. I cannot rave enough about the unique cultural experience you will get when coming to the Sunday markets! Check out my Instagram for more @hangry_detroiter

So- this is not a restaurant. This is a bi-monthly outside food gathering that supports the local temple. So if you are in the mood for authentic Thai food and supporting the local community, this is where you go. Things to Remember: -Parking: Don't be afraid to park on the lawn. -Most things are not in english or even have a sign. Don't be afraid to try everything and anything. -The best thing is usually a bowl of Thai soup and noodles. -Most dishes/plates are around $5.00- obviously it is Cash only. They always sell some vegetables too!

Genuine Thai food, prepared by Thais, for Thais. What we get in the local Thai restaurants ... is too seldom, real Thai food. Eat it there. Take it home. Do both!

We purchased a whole Deep fried Thai style fish for $7 which we brought home. I placed it in aluminum foil, covered it with Jalapenos & Fresh Garlic & "steamed" on the BBQ grill. Served together with Big fat juicy clams purchased from Kim Nhung & some stir fried Kang Kong.Fantastic......... If you do get to visit this monthly Thai lunch, food market, try out the whole fish at $7 how can you go wrong??

Oh my goodness !! We tried the Fish fry last night and wow let me tell you, I'm sad I have waited…read moreall these years before trying it . We pulled in at 5:20 to my surprise a bunch of cars already in line, but wow the line never stopped moving !! I couldn't even put the car in park. It was a steady flow, like a well oiled machine !! That was just the first thing that impressed me. Next was how friendly EVERYONE was, the order takers, money takers, food runners were all so pleasant. Then we got home and WOW !! EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS !!! The fish, the shrimp, the Rolls (wow) oh the Mac n Cheese was absolutely amazing, and the Cole slaw.... ALL OF IT, everything FABULOUS. My only complaint.....Easter is tomorrow and I'll have to wait until next year before I get to have this again !! I was impressed with all of it and can't wait to make this our "Friday night favorite" in the future !!

My favorite time of year starts in September, when the leaves start to change color, the nights…read morestart to get cooler & when the St. Anne's fair kicks off. The old Polish grandparents dancing & singing Polka. The hustle and bustle of getting to the back of the beer tent & trying see how many beers you can smash with out the local priests, Warren police officers or the wife taking note . Waiting in the cafeteria like lunch lines watching them load up residential ovens people donated from there house as we drool over the perogies & kielbasa being served with giant pickles for cost plus 3 bucks. Walking around the fair, trying not to give into every sense your body has when it smells an elephant ear or spots cotton candy & a deep fried Snickers stand. Spying on the kids who are at the fair doing just as we were 15 years earlier. Running into old friends from school who are there walking around with there kids. Good times... Good times
