I had already skipped a March appointment because of pandemic fears, but Mint Dental made me feel safe because of the amount of precautions they were taking. Before my appointment, I waited in my car (the waiting room is closed for safety) and they let me know by phone when it was safe to enter. When I first walked in the building, I was asked a series of questions to make sure I have not been exposed to the virus in the last 14 days. All the staff in the building were wearing masks, but my hygienist and the dentist both wore N95-grade masks and face shields while they worked on my teeth. In addition to this, all the surfaces in my exam room I touched were covered in replaceable plastic and they had a HEPA-air filter constantly cleaning out the air. If you have been putting off a dental appointment because of the pandemic, Mint Dental is doing their absolute best to make it safe for you. Brittani always does a wonderful job cleaning my teeth, and Dr. Lauren got my retainer situation taken care of quickly during my cleaning visit. I wholeheartedly recommend them!

I can live with thatto some extend. I find out from my insurance company they are no longer in my network, hence the higher bill. They didnt tell me I was no longer in their network. If they didnt know they should have because they acted as is they verified with my insurance company and provided an estimate based on that. Not ok. - You should've notified me when I made a visti to your office. Excuses don't excuse the issue at hand. You're not in my network so why even mention my insurance as the problem? I got no insurance relief and you knew that was going to be the issue before you did the work and that's not ok. I don't know what you mean I hung up on you. I never purposely hung up on you. You could've sent me a text or email like you do with other issues. It doesn't make sense. If you were in my dental network your argument would make sense but you're not.

I think I found my new dental place to go! First need to say…read moreI have Severe dental anxiety after having 4 impact wisdom teeth removed in 2015. The people I went to yes did great but the bedside manners needs some improvement and didn't check up on me to be sure the infected wisdom tooth at the time wasn't getting worse. The staff at Aspen Dental on 41st went above and beyond to make sure I'd calm down explaining possibilities and offered payment plans to numb my gums before any work was done. With my experience that was new to me they made sure what I needed came first. After cleaning and one filling they asked when would be a good time for me to come back in. Sadly with my current work hours it's hard to get any appointments in but they sat down with me looked around on the calendar and told me if anything happened to give a call or go on the website to see when I could reschedule so it's great to see they can be flexible with me!! They were very patient with me when my anxiety kicked in, worked with scheduling, but they were up front with me and about my oral health and what improvements were needed. They didn't throw any gimmicks, no sugarcoating, just straight up answers and habits I needed for myself. I can't wait again to see them again if they continue what they are doing now!!

Not the best fit if you're looking for preventative care and solutions to avoid bone loss and…read morecostly future visits. I requested a preventative procedure during two prior visits. I discussed my interest in getting this treatment three times, once with the dental assistant and twice with the doctor and dental assistant together. I was told numerous times that the procedure was expensive and not covered by insurance; I'd already researched on my own and had my mind set on getting the treatment, but the doctor and dental assistant made it seem as if the procedure was unnecessary and talked me out of the idea, so I trusted their judgment and moved on. At a later visit, I was informed that I'd need to get more work done (that was more expensive than the preventative procedure I'd previously requested) that could have been avoided if I'd not been talked out of getting preventative work done. When I brought this issue up during my cleaning, there was, conveniently, no record of my request. The dental assistant I had before had not documented what we discussed nor my concerns/needs, and was no longer employed at the office. Great. To make matters worse, the doctor said we never had the discussion, even though we did and he told me the procedure was expensive and not covered by insurance, he even told me the price per tooth and I distinctly remember saying I was fine with it and they still talked me out of it. It could be that the doctor forgot what we'd previously discussed considering the number of appointments they have and patients they see--it'd be impossible to remember every single issue or request a patient has, but that's what the notes are for, and my notes were never documented... by anyone. I also noticed during my cleaning, that the dental hygienist commented on how the charts from my wisdom teeth extractions hadn't been updated either. While the assistant responsible is no longer at Utica Dental, I can't help but wonder how many patients have been impacted by similar negligence and why there wasn't some system or audit to follow up on those charts to confirm that they're correct especially if the assistant's departure was due to performance issues. The office manager apologized for the mistake and offered a discount on the procedure, which I appreciate, but ultimately, it was no consolation for my loss. I decided to switch to an office that emphasizes preventative care and maintaining natural tooth structure to avoid extra visits and costly repairs, surgeries, cosmetics, (or worse) in the future--no matter how profitable or beneficial for business metrics.

I did ask about Invisalign at my appointment and we went through that consultation. Dr. Hinkle took the time to answer my questions but when I left I realized he's missed some key points in the discussion such as how long I would have to wear them. Overall, I think this was a pretty good dental experience.
