Conveniently located all in one location I can get all my health concerns addressed by Dr. McKay and then any necessary prescriptions filled right away while I wait. I don't have to go offsite to have my prescriptions filled by another pharmacy. The pharmacy does a yearly prescription/health review and they are always available to discuss any questions I have. They are always pleasant and remember my name which makes me feel cared for. They always seek out the best options if affordability becomes an issue which being a pensioner I very much appreciate. In addition, I can't speak more highly of Dr. McKay who has been my medical practitioner for several years now. I used to live in the Somerset area when I first met her then moved across town to Bankview. Even though I have to go across town, I would never switch because I am looked after so well by her and her staff as well as Robert's pharmacy team. Went for knee pain, he…read morebasically convinced me to NOT ask for an MRI, several months later go in for same problem and he reads from HIS notes that I REFUSED an MRI. Claim ends up thru WCB, after literally months of back and forth trying to get them to simply give the file to WCB I find out that in my file he had written down the wrong knee having issues! Apparently they can't accept email, everything has to be by fax?! They said they never got faxes, never got letters, even after I could confirm that they did. Go get the MRI, I call them a week later to ask if they got it... they tell me no, but the doctor will call me right after they get it... the next day WCB calls they got it on the Friday before and have already had a doctor write a report. I give Excel 3 more days, I call and they lie to me saying they only got the MRI yesterday! Doctor still hasn't called. It's not just a single doctor, it seems they have their front staff lying to clients and very hard to work with. I emailed them asking if they would take a complaint before I posted this.... they haven't bother to respond.

Then I'm taken back to one of the patients' rooms and have to wait another 30 minutes before the dr. comes in. After explaining my issue and history with back problems, and how I've never had any sort of scan performed to get a deeper understanding of what might be the cause, I'm told to take muscle relaxants, watch physio videos on YouTube, and wait to see what happens. Wow, I should've been a doctor... Even after confirming my name when he walked in, the dr mistakenly pulls up another patient's information on his computer and is glancing at that throughout the visit, mentioning how I've been on another medication previously for pain (which is not correct because he's not looking at my file). All this is realized as I'm walking to the pharmacy afterwards however, as I was ultimately handed a prescription with someone else's name and insurance info on it. So, I've just been told about another patient's personal medical history with pain meds and have the ability to use his name and insurance to get a prescription... By this point the dr had already began assisting another patient, so I'm told by staff to wait AGAIN until he's finished so the prescription can be corrected!! Brilliant. Decided I had enough of my time wasted and walked out. Stunned by the mismanagement and inefficiency of this clinic.

However the nurse who casted my son's arm squeezed the fresh cast @ the location of the break - i assumed to tighten it on his arm and help push the bone (which was bent out a bit) back into place. This put my child in alot of pain but I assume it was what needed to happen. We were then referred to the children's hospital for a checkup. Upon checkup Xray (3 weeks later) the bone is SEVERELY pushed out of place and now requires surgery and an additional 8 weeks healing time. He had no falls and no bumps on the arm within the first 3 weeks. I can only assume that whatever SQUEEZING the nurse did to his arm pushed the bone so severely out of place that it was injured 10x worse then it was originally. We will NEVER go to the urgent care clinic here for a broken bone again.

For five years, I worked for a bank in downtown Calgary. During that time, the hours were 9 - 4…read morep.m. At 4 p.m., the doors would close and any customers that were standing there at 4 p.m. were still served, which meant that a 4 p.m. close meant it was 4:30 when the bank was done serving clients. Not at South Calgary Medical Clinic. Today, I was feeling a bit under the weather, and it is after 3:30 p.m. on a Sunday. I get online and find out (thankfully) that the South Calgary Medical Clinic has walk-in until 5 p.m. I get in my vehicle and I head over. As I walk in the building at 4:15 p.m., I can see that the gate to the clinic is closed. There is a man outside the gate talking to one of the workers at the clinic through the gate. Its 45 minutes before their posted closing time, and there is no one in the waiting room and the doors are locked. The guy is obviously not feeling well, and is trying to negotiate with the worker to let him in, given their posted time is 5 p.m.. She was quite rude and adamant, letting him know that what he can't see, is how many patients are already in the rooms with doctors, despite the empty waiting room, so they have stopped taking patients and have closed the door. I didn't intervene - I just stood behind the man and watched the exchange go on between the two of them. Honestly, as a reasonable human being, I can see some logic in this approach if I really open my mind. However, as someone who has worked in some form of customer service for over 25 years, I was struggling with what I witnessed, especially given it is healthcare. Not to mentioned I was a little ticked off myself that I drove from Riverbend to Sundance for a service that closed its doors 45 minutes early. I guess a medical clinic does not have to worry about losing business for creating their own rules. However, if I wanted to ensure that I left work at 5 p.m. every day in a role such as that, I would post my hours to close at 3 or 4 p.m., to ensure that any customer that came during posted hours were serviced. Much like they did at the bank. That is what makes sense to me. So my quick tip, and my review is simply to state that if you want service from this clinic, use their posted hours as a guideline. I am not sure how long before 4:15 they closed their doors, but I am going to suggest at least an hour before the doors closed.
