I could've told you that Pain & Wonder is exactly that after my first tattoo with them but I loved my experience so much that I drove an hour and a half to get a second one done there. Both my tattoos were done with Christian who is incredibly talented, friendly, and just overall someone you trust with something that'll stay with you forever. While he may not be at the shop as often now because he's moved, if you get the chance to get a tat from him, do it! The other artists all seem to be very professional and talented as well. They all boast an impressive range in style so you're sure to find someone here who can create what you're envisioning. I would have no hesitations going to any one of them for my next tattoo. I didn't intend on getting it done when I came in, but the girls we worked with were so cool, attentive, kind, & just awesome while they switched out my friend's cartilage piercing, I knew I wanted to give them my business as well & go ahead & get the septum piercing I'd been eyeing. The shop is super aesthetic, which I personally like, because if they put that much care into how their shop looks and feels, I know they'll take care of my body, too. Miki was awesome; I get nervous with piercings (definitely more of a tattoo girl) but she put me at ease instantly by saying it was her favorite piercing to do, so I knew I was in good hands. She explained the full process, took her time, and didn't flinch even when I bled more than I expected (she said this was normal!) and my eyes watered like crazy. If you have a tattoo in mind that you really want to get, don't go here. They will probably belittle your idea and just do what they want with the tattoo. The shop looks clean, spacious, whatever, but all of that means nothing when you're spoken down to & straight up disrespected for the tattoo you want. I came in on a Thursday afternoon -- shop empty, artists sitting around, a perfect time for an easy walk-in. I wanted a heart on my finger -- I know all the risks & downfalls of tattooing fingers, I have six other tattoos, I'm not a sorority girl fresh off the street looking to get her first ink. The second I said what I wanted, the artists looked at each other, & one guy (no idea his name, bearded, looks like a jerk) didn't even acknowledge me, rolled his eyes and shook his head, & went back to whatever he was doing. Cool. I looked back at the other artist, stunned by this blatant rudeness & completely awful customer service, but he didn't seem to think it was an issue that the other artist clearly thought he was too good to do my simple tattoo & quoted me $100. At this point, I knew I wasn't going to be tattooed by these people, jacked up minimum or otherwise. They clearly thought I was a dumb girl who wanted a dumb tattoo & my money was better spent elsewhere -- down the street with a competitor who treated me like a human. Sara is the real deal, man. I booked a consult with her after an Atlanta shop canceled an…read moreappointment I'd had on the books for 4 months the night before the appointment. I was worried that no one would be able to capture the style I was going for as I felt I'd searched every shop in the metro Atlanta area and never saw the right fit. From the second we sat down, I knew she got it as she explained the style I was going for better than I ever could have. She was also very respectful and realistic about timeline as I was getting married in the fall and did not want to have a half finished piece or a fresh tattoo at my wedding/honeymoon. I decided to move forward on the spot. At my first appointment, she worked with me to design and re-design the sketch until she had it perfect. She's willing to put in the long hours on a piece, but is also super efficient. I was shocked she was able to do as much as she did at the first appointment so it looked like I had a "complete" tattoo and wasn't walking around with an outline. She was also super mindful of the positions she was putting me in and when I was in need of a break. At our second appointment, I thought I was just going in for a quick background fill, which is what she envisioned too. However, when she started sketching out possible backgrounds, she placed this full sunset scene behind it and we were both convinced that's what the background had to be. Despite thinking she'd only have me there a couple hours, she willingly put in a full day of work to get me the tattoo I wanted. It turned out incredible--beyond what I could have imagined someone executing with my vision. Her mastery of color is amazing and her attention to detail and ability to work on a relatively small scale is wild. I can't believe the detail she was able to work in to the facial features and the planes in the background of my tattoo. The shop is also very cool--lots of fun decor to look at, clean, and welcoming. All the other artists I've seen and interacted with while there are super kind. The staff is super friendly, all with a great sense of humor, and they all have a great connection with each other that really makes you feel welcome. Veronica Hahn is a total badass. She took my idea and made the most beautiful piece that I will cherish forever. It was a 20+ year old cover-up that she simply wasn't fazed by, and worked around easily. She talked through her idea and sketch, and was amazing to work with all of the details. I'd been following her work on social and had been on her waiting list, so I knew she would create something great. But, she has a confidence in her process that really sets your mind at ease and you just inherently trust her eye and expertise. Watching her create this piece on my leg was amazing - so fluid and natural, with this amazing eye for shading and contours in blackwork. I'm so grateful for her and this tattoo. Veronica and Sara share a room to work in, and the 10+ year relationship between them was a blast to see. The stories, the jokes and just the friendship between them made the time fly by.
