Always walked past here when I've been in Morecambe so was excited to see what lied within....
From the outside I can see where they're coming from with the minimalist look but as James G said we did think the painting was pretty off white and didn't look as sleek as it was intended.
We ate in the slightly more relaxed café part which has great floor to ceiling windows so you can enjoy the seaview- brilliant.
We had 5 of us in our party so unfortunately we had to sit in one of the isolated booths around the corner so unfortunately that wasn't the best view. The booths themselves were bright red and purple (I think) which did make it feel a little like a wacky warehouse and I would have looked to see the sea instead.
You do have to order at the bar, which personally for me (with experience of being a waitress) thought it wasn't really the dining experience I was going for. If you're bringing over food and drinks you may as well ad table service onto it to make it that little bit more special.
I opted for the ploughmans, as I've always had a weakness for pork pies...
This didn't disappoint however it was served with SO much bread- not totally needed, pickled onions were lovely, pie was good however appley bit on top was just a little bit too sweet for me, olives and chutney were also good and I liked the salad.
The portions are massive here so arrive hungry! James G had bread and oil and also received SO much bread- just loads more than needed! James G's Mum ordered the fish and chips which is their signature dish which looked and tasted amazing! Top marks for proper chips!
On a side note, the toilets are joined but have separate staircases. They are well looked after and loo rolls even have that 'point' made in them, like at big hotels! Random but it impressed me. Only thing about the toilets is that the hand dryers are put behind the sinks, so you have to lean over and put your face right next to the mirror to use them....very strange!!
Will definitely come here again when we visit Morecambe it does have the wow factor and the building and view itself is a conversation starter-very interesting place, well done! read more
