I love a mom and pop shop so I was excited to check this place out. I came here more for the savoury stuff than the sweets really. Croissant Sandwiches are still listed on their menu so I was surprised to find that they no longer serve these per sé, instead offering in its place, their own stuffed croissants. I tried the ham and cheese and unfortunately, it was bland. To call it a croissant is also generous. It had very little lamination, so it was more like a soft dinner roll with no crispy layers. It was also underbaked, so the middle was soggy. Their Kolaches are interesting. I had one with a jalapeño hot dog and it was pretty good, especially with mustard. It wasn't like any Kolache I'd had before so after some quick googling, it seems Southern Kolaches are different! All the ones I've had in the past were round and filled with gravy and minced meats in a flaky dough. These are essentially glorified Pigs in a Blanket, using the same dough as the croissant. My biggest gripe though: Hygiene. One person kept scratching their nose while the other had dirty, black fingernails. And both kept touching the pastries as they explained what they were, no gloves!! Perhaps they were trying to add flavor? TL;DR - Kolaches are decent and good for road trips, if you can stomach the hygiene. read more

It's a five star because between Midland and Odessa... It's definitely the better of the several donut locations. Their kolaches and breakfast buns are hands down the freshest and best. THE WORST DONUT PLACE IN MIDLAND!!! The workers are rude and impolite. The whole place is nasty and the food is mediocre for the price. Everytime I go in this place they look at me and talk bad about me in a language they THINK I can't understand. They act like it is a crime when you ask them a question. They have items on there menu they don't serve. Apparently, to them, if you don't make your order quickly that gives them the right to give you attitude. I tried to be friendly and all I got in return were nasty words spoken in a different language. I bought 2 kolaches and a donut. They gave me the donut and told me to wait on the kolaches. I waited 10 minutes with my boyfriend (who got all of his food). When we went to ask about them they acted like they didn't remember I ordered them. They literally tossed the bag of them on the counter and waved their hand before going to the back. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS AWFUL PLACE!! CROOKES AMD THEIVES!!! read more

The only place in Midland to get a real plain donut. Closest thing to the Dunkin Donuts munchkins. Be warned though, if you like plain donuts they only make a dozen a day. The owner is super nice though and if you call ahead he'll make more. Took off a star for no coffee drinks like a normal donut shop, plus they're a little chinzy with the AC. Which when you walk 3 miles in 100 degrees, isn't quite the relaxing environment you'd hoped for. Also they're only open from 10am-2pm. They do have a drive thru though which if you have a car solves some of those issues. And the plain donut was damn good! read more

Interior is a little shabby. The pigs in the blankets are yummy it's like a delicious yeast roll from a restaurant with a sausage inside. I really liked that I went in at 10:30 and they still had a good selection. I got cream filled long johns and they were good. read more

I'm from Houston, in Midland for work. That being said I love Shipleys in Houston but this place has THE best kolaches I've ever had. I go here every morning for breakfast when I'm in town.
