One employee appeared to be too busy to look up and make eye contact with me even though I spoke directly to her as I stood across the front desk from her. I needed a watch battery replaced on a Movado watch. I explained that the mall jewelry stores didn't have the specific tools, but the young lady at Whites assured me they could do it. After battery change, they were unable to put the watch back together. The young lady solicited the help of the manager (?) who was in her office and she wasn't able to put the back on either..... this went on for nearly 15 minutes in the back workroom without any update to me, the customer, although I was basically within earshot and eyesight of them. The manager then left the work room and went back to her office without even glancing in my direction or providing explanation, even as I stood waiting at the register. The younger staffer had to come out and let me know that they were unable to re-attach the back. She handed it to me in pieces but still charged me for the battery! There really wasn't an apology, but she did look up a recommended shop in Bridgeport that could likely help, and gave me their phone number. I prefer the skill and customer service of Caplan's Jewelers in Weston. They met my needs with a smile, no charge, and I left there with an intact watch on my arm.
