My last visit, I waited 30 min in the waiting room, and waited 20 min inside, and saw her for like 5 min. This is the last time I'm going there. Not worth the wait anymore!

I came to Dr. Byrd in March of 2006 when I discovered I was pregnant with my son. Some of my most…read morememorable experiences with Dr. Byrd include her general attitude towards my concerns with my first pregnancy. Dr. Byrd would speak to me in a scolding manner and accuse me of not eating simply because I had not gained much weight by my 5th month of pregnancy. Mind you I am a respectable grown woman at the time with a long term full time office career and health insurance.. So I can't even say she was judging me for my lifestyle. I also had frequent occurrences of blacking out in public while walking. She would literally laugh at me and tell me it was normal and act annoyed if I would mention it again at the next appointment. Come to find out I actually had a heart condition (Supaventricular Tachycardia) that was later diagnosed when I relocated to another state at 8 months pregnant. Dr Byrd would also take sonograms and keep the best ones for her file only giving me the absolute worst distorted print outs of my unborn child.. My child was perfectly healthy and she didn't seem to need them for clinical purposes.. She would just smugly file them away in a folder. On 4th of July weekend of that year I contracted salmonella poisoning and was vomiting and had diarrhea and a high fever and could not eat or drink for 3-4 days. I got scared and called the oncall # for advice like any pregnant woman would. Dr Byrd called me back from a BBQ and literally scolded me and spoke to me like a livid mother for bothering her on the holiday. She actually said"I can't believe you would disturb me over the holiday for THIS?!". I am so glad she did not deliver my baby. I have nothing good to say about my experience with her.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amicable staff, the place was clean, and the procedure expectation was 100%. It was with the Radiology Dept, so granted, no hospitalization, but the techs and nurses were really good. Pleasant, professional, funny, clear, and prompt.

I recently spent two nights in this hospital. I was supposed to have an outpatient procedure in the…read morecardiology Cath lab that ended up requiring admission to the hospital. While my time spent in the Cath lab with their team of nurses and doctors and technicians was absolutely without issue, I wish I would have known how awful it was going to be once I was admitted to the hospital. They were managing my pain with a narcotic however after approximately an hour of getting the medication in my IV; the pain we return. Since my pain level was not being managed by the medication, they made the decision that I could not be cared for at home and should be admitted to the hospital. Once I got my room they continued to manage my pain and my nausea. Here is a list of my biggest issues: 1. Pushing the nurse call button; it was unclear based on the technology or the response time whether I was actually heard. Because I was in such pain I would count down the minutes to the next time I was able to get my next dosage of narcotic pain medication. Sometimes the red light would stay on and others it looked like I hadn't pushed it. Many times the intercom button would ring I as if I had called it. It was on the table next to me, I hadn't leaned on it. 2. At one point I threw up a couple times and had to ask for the nurses to bring me something to throw up into. That same plastic bin was then left in my room with the contents in it on my table (where they brought in my meals) for what seemed like at least 12 hours 3.They didn't seem to know whether I was a fall risk or not. I was on heavy pain medication and could barely walk due to delirium, nausea and weakness. 4.They have white-erase boards near the patient's bed that tell you what your name is, why you're in the hospital, who your nurse is, when you're next pain medication is coming, what your pain number is and what your discharge goals are. This was so sad, because they never wrote anything on the board other than the nurse's name. I had no idea the next time or what medication was coming for me to help with the pain. 5.I was vomiting and peeing from the force in my hospital bed and I would call the nurse and have to explain to them what was going on I remember them not really knowing why I was in pain which is alarming since they have my entire chart up in front of them; hypothetically. 6.If I was in distress & the nurse was visiting her patient on the other side of the curtain, they would pretend that I wasn't there. I was moaning in pain asking for things. 7. When I pushed my call button the voice that would come back through the intercom sounded like the most angry, unhappy, uncaring voice basically saying, 'what do you want'. 8. The 2nd night I was able to unplug my IV and wander down the hallway to try to find out who my nurse was. I did this because I knew that shift-change had happened she had not come in and introduce herself to me. I found her name next to mine on the wall in the hallway. She seemed confused because I asked her specifically by name and she said, 'That's me... who are you?' 9. I asked for toothpaste /ear plugs, and disposable underwear since I had not intended to stay overnight. Toothpaste and ear plugs never showed up. 10. I remember having to explain what procedure I had had done and what I was experiencing to the nurses and to some degree to the supervising Dr. In a way that felt like they didn't know or hadn't heard of it before which was scary. 11. The alarms beeping in our room would go off for 30+ minutes. We'd have to call each time to the nurses station. 12. This hospital has a 24/7 visitation policy, people in your room talking at any hour of the night? Wtf.

Whatever I did to it, it required medical attention and rather than clog the emergency department over my stupidity, I went here to the Mid State Mediquick Location. This place is fast, friendly and the staff from the physician assistants, nurses and medical assistants are very knowledgeable. After ruling out a fracture, they quickly wrapped my foot, gave me a walking boot of some sort that I probably wont wear, gave me a prescription for some pain meds and sent me on my merry way albeit hobbling along with crutches. Excellent location, I think I had to wait all of 5 minutes and everyone was so nice. Smarter choice than going and sitting in the emergency department and surely smarter than what I did to injure myself.

I was in a private room and started getting a little teary-eyed on my own when the pain got worse and the nurse noticed when she came to check on me. The doctor booked into the room a very short time later and quickly diagnosed me as having conjunctivitis in both eyes and an ear infection in both ears. The doctor was very sweet and asked if I was under a lot of stress since that type of thing doesn't typically happen all together, and she made a lot of excellent recommendations for avoiding cold liquids and sticking strictly with warm or room temperature drinks until I healed up. I have had a couple of ear infections since then and haven't had another doctor take time to mention that helpful tip since then. I'm not sure if the same staff is still there, but I greatly appreciated their concern and the time they took to make sure I had all of the info I needed to get better as quickly as possible.

My primary Is Dr. Jessica Roehr, D.O., who I joined when she first started at Portland, I think she is wonderful as I've seen her growth within the 2 years I've been there. I've also seen most all the other Docs and most all the nurses and they are also very good, knowledgeable and personable. The complaint about the front desk is, in my opinion, jaded. They are a harried team of professionals who are pretty busy and the more they know you, the more personable they are, but I have never seen any one of them be rude, or short, etc. You'll find no complaints here, from me as yet.

From common illnesses to minor injuries and pediatric needs, we provide care for the whole family. " My experience? While your medical team was great (the only reason for the 2 stars)- the woman at the front desk was RUDE. Clearly, she upset at having to stop her conversation to help a patient. She asked me if I made a reservation, and when I said I didn't, she just pointed at the tablet. When I went to sign in, I then opted on the tablet to continue to do the insurance portion on my phone, at which point she yelled over to me that I didn't need to do all of it. I was literally following directions. When she called me up, without even looking at me said- "sign there (on a blank signature pad), and you have a $100 copay" and just held out her hand. I asked her what I was signing and she stated "permission to treat you and bill you". I asked, "can I see what I am signing before I sign it?" and she pointed to an 8.5x11 document about 10,000 words long in a frame on a desk and then again said "$100 copay" and held out her hand. So, I asked her for a printed copy, as NO ONE should be expected to just sign something blindly. She acted like I was insane for asking and sat there until I signed- and only then did she provide me with a terrible copy that was clearly not meant to be legible in any way for the patient to understand. It had lines thru it and looked like it had seen better days. The font was tiny and blurry. At no point during our interaction had this woman uttered a polite greeting or friendly word, or even made eye contact. I was in Urgent Care for an urgent medical reason, and she could not have cared less. To her, I was an annoyance interrupting her story about a Barbie Blanket. I mean that sincerely. That is what the staff was talking about when she pointed me over to the tablet so she could keep on chatting. She made an already stressful experience even worse. I paid my copay, my insurance paid you more- the least you can do is hire someone who actually cares about patients to greet them. If you don't like people, maybe don't work in an environment when you will see people all day who aren't feeling at their very best.
