Randy, one of the managers there was awesome and I'm sorry I don't remember the other gentleman's name (he was amazing, and very professional )that changed my oil filter because it you got stuck. I took my car close to my salon to get my oil changed, big mistake because they said they could not change the oil filter because it's torqued too hard and I had to go back to Midas to fix it. They laughed and said no problem. "It's just a certain way to take it off is all and we will take care of that" and they did!! No questions asked put in a new filter cleaned it all up. This shop is terrible. I paid $2200 to replace AC compressor. It didn't work well after 2 weeks. They didn't seem interested in fixing the issue. Took my vehicle to another Midas on 281 & Bulverde. It cost me another $3500 to fix what this shop messed up and do things they should have done initially to repair my AC. The other Midas was awesome. Will trust them in the future. I don't even know where to start with this. We have been having our brakes maintained at Midas for 25 years. They have always been honorable and reliable. That confidence and trust ends today. We had our brakes replaced ( at a cost of over $900 ). I was hearing a noise, right away, so I went back a month later and I was told everything was fine and that is normal when they are new. I trusted them, and I left without further worry. Not only did the noise continue, but it worsened to the point that I became worried, so this time I had my husband go in because I was convinced they would say the same thing to me. They actually not only told my husband the brakes were fine, but that the struts were shot, hub barings, and CV joints and needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,700. We decided to get a second opinion with our dealer, Gunn Honda, and we picked up our car. We told Gunn Honda on the phone that we were told our struts, etc. were bad and we needed them to look at them. They assured us that struts are not a dangerous thing, and we'd be fine driving our car until we could get it in for our appointment ( a week later ), so I continued to drive my kids, grandkids, and my mom around until we could get it in. When we took it in, they said it was the brakes, not the struts ,hub bearings, and CV joints (none of that needed to be replaced or repaired) . If they had known what was really wrong with our car, they would have advised us not to drive with bad brakes. I am livid that Midas is either completely incompetent, or completely unethical. They risked the lives of my family. Please do not take your car to this, and I would say by the way they run their business, any Midas. I'm so disappointed because we have trusted this particular Midas with our family's safety for so long. read more

Going through an issue currently on a wrong conventional filter installed for a full synthetic oil change purchase. I will update the detailed review soon. Here is the update: I complained to Midas customer care, and they gave me a complaint number. But they never got back to me so far. Hence I hate Midas and give a zero to Midas, and was planning to push them harder. Meanwhile, The Store Manager got back to me and offered to replace the red filter, with a blue one specified for full synthetic, free of additional cost. He apologized for slamming the phone down on me earlier, and also asking me to pay more for a better filter (although I paid full price charged for full synthetic at that time without a coupon). When he offered to change filter free of cost, I also requested that he honor his previous offer about free tire rotation during next visit. (Earlier He did not honor as I presented the rotation coupon at billing time, and not in advance). He was kind enough to agree for both filter change, and rotation this time, which was great. They changed the filter to the blue one from Carquest which is specified for full synthetic oil. I am bumping up the score of this particular store from 0 to 3.99 for these corrections. Since I lost time in managing this situation I could not give this store a full 4 or 5, but thank them for understanding and correcting the mistake. In fact, The store may also have lost time and effort solving this problem for me which was avoidable, if they got it right in the first place. Sept 24 Update: I saw the INSENSITIVE and sham reply below from Midas customer experience team below. It is very clear that they did not read my message before replying to my post. It is also clear that they chose to post a stock reply asking me to contact them using the same link again, which is disrespectful. I wrote in my review that I already complained to MIDAS customer experience team via the same link, and over phone, and they gave me a complaint number. Came by with a Service Engine Light Soon on my truck and talked to Chris. He said it's something they could do in same day if I brought it in at 8am. Brought it in at 8am next day and front desk guy said I should hear something in about an hour about diagnosis. After calling the listed number 7 times that morning with no answer, I walked to the shop at 1:30pm. Truck had not even been touched. Chris the manager said he didn't know if he could get to it that day with a careless look. I wasted a day believing this Midas could do something. I have had enough with this place. They don't give a shit about customer service. Go 200 yards north to Hollywood Park Automotive where they at least respect your business and time. And don't even bother with the Midas Customer Care reply...that is garbage too. read more

If you have a nice car don't bring it here! They told me they could definitely do the work on my car that I requested. After bringing it in at 8:00 sharp and leaving, they called me 30 minutes later that they could not do the work due to specific software required. Ok fair enough. I told them to leave the car and not do anything else and I would come pick it up in 45 minutes. Not 3 minutes later I get a notification on my car (smart app feature) that has being driven around. I called right away and asked them why they were going for a joy ride and the tech on the phone was annoyed with ME. He said they test drive all their vehicles to find any other problems. That would normally make sense, it's a common thing. BUT you specifically told me before that you literally did not have the software at your shop to work on my car. They were just playing dumb to get a joy ride. When I got my car back they were super rude and did not apologize. As I was getting on my car I did a quick walk around my car to check everything and one of the mechanics came over and asked me very defensively "ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMETHING". Like no dude. I'm just checking to make sure you didn't mess up my car after your joy ride. Do I have your permission to check out my car?? I confirmed as well, my car is electric and I looked at the energy use graph from their joy ride and saw a bunch of spikes from them doing 6-8 speed pulls out on the road. Jokes on you I had it in slow acceleration mode and limited the speed to 60mph since I don't trust you. Glad I did that or you would've crashed my car. If I could give 0 stars I would. Stay away unless you have a beater and just want decent and cheap service. You'd have better luck at a Firestone worked exclusively by 14 year olds. read more

Fixed my problem for less than $30, and I was out within an hour, even though they were very busy. I'll definitely be going back here next time I have a problem with my car. read more

I went back to this place a few months later. They do not allow you to make an appointment; "first come, first served" only. I left my car for a repair that would take perhaps an hour or two. They had my car four days before they got to it. While I have great trust in their automotive work and their customer service is good, I have never gone back because I don't like my car being held up for four days for a relatively short repair. read more

I've been going to this Midas for years. All my cars and my family's cars. I recently moved to the other side of town so it was more convenient to go to another one. The one on culebra did the rear brakes and rotors 6 months ago, and another Midas did the front 9 months ago. The brakes started shaking so I went back to culebra store where they told me it wasn't the brakes, nothing was wrong with them. I didn't trust that. So I went back to this one, explained everything, and they found that all four rotors were warped. I didn't want to go back to culebra because it was the third time I'd been there and not impressed. So San Pedro took care of the issue for a low cost and this reminded me why sticking with the same spot, no matter how far, is always best. They've consistently taken care of us, never try to over sell you, very honest and timely. They treat you like family! I highly recommend this location! read more

Disappointed how I was given the run around and how I was treated. First and foremost, I understand mistakes and issues always happen. The crucial difference between a good and bad business is how they handle these situations. Maybe they were having a bad day, but there response to the situation was unacceptable. I called in Saturday morning... roughly 9:30 AM (they open at 9). I spoke with a mechanic and was told they're busy and that'll take 3 hours before the oil change and rotation would be done. Great. That worked for me and I was willing to leave the car and Lyft back home. When I dropped off the car, the mechanic reiterated that'll it would be done in roughly 3 hours. I was ok with that and went on home. Fast forward to 1 PM (3 1/2 hours later) I try to call with no answer. Maybe they're busy? Ok let's call back an hour later. No answer. Let's call back in 15. No answer. Let's call back 30 more minutes no answer. Let's call back 30 more minutes. Finally! Manager, I presume, picked up. He said they'd had problems with there phones. Fine, no worries. He then tells me that he hasn't started on my car. (6 1/2 hours later with no notice (everyone has cell phone nowadays)). He told me he may get to it but wasn't sure. So I decided to just pick up my car because I had to be somewhere at 4. The reason I'm frustrated with this Midas is because: 1) no apology was given... not once. 2) no notice was given at all when I was waiting 3) the manager refused to hand me the keys when I was there to pick up my car when he was staring at me. He literally told a mechanic of his to give me my keys because he refused to confront me 4) I wasted $25 in Lyft for the round trip for no oil change Again, I don't ask for much. If you mess up or delayed, just let me know. A simple I'm sorry would be sufficient for me in most cases. This is my first one star review, so I don't hand these out lightly. 7 hours with my car with no work done, no notice, no apology, and $25 wasted in Lyft made me do just that. To add, the mechanic noted that they may not take my coupon through Midas direct website to there location. So I went to the goodyear next to where I work for an oil change and inspections, and they returned saying everything was awful and I needed to replace all of my brake pads and rotors and filters and $$$$. I told them I'd take their comments under consideration, and instead took my car to Midas. Midas said my front brakes were fine, but I might have to replace my back rotors, but also that I could buy my own replacement rotors and bring them in if I wanted, so they didn't have to change their material upcharge. And then they came back and said they were able to machine down the rotors, so I didn't have to replace them anyway, only the back brake pads. Love you, Midas! read more

If I could give this sorry location negative stars I would. Do not trust the management there. At the time, the manager was brought from Austin to replace a younger manager that I actually liked and I thought was fair. New manager bragged bragged about how he's the greatest manager in Midas history(he's a scumbag) started arguing with me the customer because I did find it necessary to spend 500 dollars more to polish my rotors after replacing my brake pads. These were new rotors from a yr before. Manager from Austin Christian threw a titty fit I told him you can either do what I asked you or I'll take it somewhere else. Long story short I had a tire blowout on i10 , a wk later ,3 lugs on one tire were cross threaded snap off while changing tire. Had it towed to the closest Midas. They found cross threaded lugs on another tire as well. Had to replace two wheel assembly on my car I got a 30 percent discount on labor. I still use Midas I will never go to that location again. read more

I Love my 2011 avalanche. Since it's an older model, once in a while it needs to have some repairs like my cruise control went out. They fixed it in 30 minutes. I wanted to have a rear-view camera like some of the newer models cause poles and other vehicles are hiding when I back up. So, I took my truck to Midas on 16337 San Pedro and they did a wonderful job. They added a new rear view camera and it looks & works better than any factory made rear-view cameras. I love it; I love my 2011 avalanche; and I love Midas on San Pedro. Ask for Doug: he's friendly, professional, and he will make it right. read more

I can't say enough good things about this location and owner Doug. They really do care about their customers! I originally had to bring in my car in October; I told them my concerns and they took care of it quickly and didn't try to push anything extra on me. I had to go in again in November for a battery issue and again they handled professionally. Just this past weekend I thought I was having battery issues again and they checked the battery, starter and alternator at no charge. I am so pleased with Doug and his staff. The service has drastically declined at this location, and as a result, I have no intention of ever returning. Coming straight from work, I arrived at Midas at about 5 PM to see if I could get an oil change. They were not scheduled to close until 6, so provided that they weren't busy, there was enough time. When I arrived, I saw at least four employees around the bays. One employee initially greeted me but didn't ask me what I needed. He tended to another customer and then walked around the area. Only one vehicle was being worked on at the time. I was at the front counter waiting for about 20 minutes until the employee finally returned to ask me what I needed. When I said that I was hoping to get an oil change, he immediately said no. Could he not have asked me that earlier so that I didn't have to wait 20 minutes to be told no? Then I told him that I work during the week and asked if it was possible to schedule an appointment for 5 PM later in the week. Without even looking at an appointment book or log, he again immediately told me no. I was appalled at how abrupt he was. He suggested that I could leave my car overnight. For an oil change? Really??? I have been to this location in the past to know that it can be done there in less than an hour. So why I was not allowed to schedule an appointment for 5 PM (and his refusal to even look for an available day) was beyond me. When I called corporate about the incident, even the customer service rep. was shocked and confirmed that no, appointments can be scheduled at that time and that he should have consulted an appointment log. The upside of all this is that I discovered Valvoline, which is next door to this Midas location. The staff there was extremely polite and friendly. They changed the oil and even updated my inspection sticker all in a quick and seamless fashion. Also, while it wasn't needed for this visit, I learned that they have extended hours and are open until 7 PM during the work week and are even open on Saturdays and Sundays. So thank you, Midas, for encouraging me to switch to Valvoline. read more

I arived at 8:30am from out of town and do not appreciate the mannagement at all...two rear shocks $360 outrages! I called the exact auto parts store and the same shocks are $47ea. After I signed my work order, then I really got the shaft. They ran three other cars who came in after me...ahead of me. Been here 3hrs for 2 shocks. Should have done it myself in the parking lot. My truck wasn't starting about a week and a half ago so we decided to call this Midas. The lady on the phone, I believe her name was Kelly, was already very nice and helpful. We had my truck towed over just about an hour and a half before they closed so I knew it wouldn't be until the next day before they could have a look at it. They called before noon the next day to tell me that it was the fuel pump, which I had already been figuring it was. Gave me a price, which was better than I was figuring, and had it fixed within just a few hours. When I went to pick it up, they apologized for keeping it overnight even though they didn't need to apologize for that since it was so late in the day when I brought it in, and they even added a gallon of coolant free of charge because of the "wait" The owner of that location took me out to look at everything under the hood and reassured me that even he had the exact same truck, just a couple years older and that they need new fuel pumps about every 100,000 miles (Older Chevy c2500). I thanked him for such a thorough and pleasant experience and told him this was the smoothest experience I've had with any shop around in YEARS. These people are awesome! read more

Doug Fetzer's San Pedro location is the best place ever to get honest competent work done and be treated like family. Time after time we go in and they never gouge like some north side shops and you feel like they really care. They even call you to see if it all went well. I took my car to this Midas for a couple years, and the customer service was pretty decent. But, I had repeat incidences here where the part they replaced was faulty, or not repaired correctly. Albeit, they usually fixed it for free if they figured they were at fault, but who wants to have their car "fixed" only to have to take it right back two weeks later? Not cool. I think that Midas is probably good for basic stuff, like oil changes and wheel alignments, but they are not equipped to handled more than that. Anything more advanced should probably be taken to a different shop. read more

Only go if you have lots of time or you can drop off. They don't care if you make an appointment. If you make an appointment in advance, then someone walks in a minute before you, they will take the walk-in before the appointment. This is not the service I expected from Midas. I feel like I did the responsible thing and called them days in advance because Saturday was the only day I could bring my car in, and they did not respect me in return. They don't care that people who work during the week need to plan things out. The sad part is they have so much business that it doesn't matter what I say here, and it doesn't matter that I won't go back. Extreamly rude I get that they make almost no money on oil changes but went in for the oil change special and the manager rudely laughed and stated yea right that thing requures synthetic oil not gonna be that cheap , first off I know enough about cars to know that mine does not require synthetic but the fact of how rude this guy was made me turn around walk out went to the normal Midas I go to and what a shock the guys laughed at what he said and I got my oil changed for the special price no issues and were more than happy to help obviously they just want to make as much money as they can if they try to stiff people on a simple oil change I can only imagine how bad they screw people over on other not needed repairs read more

BEWARE!! They installed my power steering pump in Jan. 26, 2016; on Feb. 12, the pulley fell-off. I had the minivan towed back to Midas. The shop re-did the work. On May 14 power steering malfunctioned. I had the minivan towed to a different repair facility where I found out that Midas installed a junk yard pulley out of alignment, which eventually led to the new power steering pump leaking. read more

I went to midas to get some exhaust pipes bent and mufflers installed. I thought they were top notch, but that turned out not true because I left with an exhaust that looked like the installer was just starting out in the business. Overpriced and work was ok at best. Installer made made a 45 degree cut right out of the collector instead of a steady bend and the joint had some horrible looking welds. Center area looked good. Instead of making the rear of the exhaust symmetrical with the frame, the installer went off the not so perfect bumper I told him i installed the night before just for reference. To top it off, they charged way to much for the work that that I could of got done somewhere else for far less. This midas is all about getting your money and making you think they worked hard for it. read more
