Manny and his team are absolutely amazing. Im always skeptical of mechanics and dentists, as are most people because we have no idea how much things should cost. How can a little crown on a tooth cost $1,500?! How can belt cost $$?! Trust is what matters most! My family has been coming to Manny for years. My first visit was to have them repair a window motor that died. I was quoted $1,200 by another shop which I of course felt suspect and dirty after getting the quote. Manny to the resuce. I ended up paying about $900 to replace the motor AND a new window control panel. Just recently, my hybrid overheated and I had the car towed to Midas. I thought, per the tow driver it was "probably" a hose, easy. Then the call came. I had sprung a leak in a pipe connected to the emissions system. The entire thingy would need to be replaced per CA law. The quote was around $2000. I had no choice, so I approved the repairs. The next day I Received a call from Manny stating there is a possibility the part is under warranty, up to 150k mile, I have 148k. He advised me to contact the dealer before they started the work. After speaking with the service manager, the dealer approved the repair under warranty resulting in $0.00 cost. Trust is everything. Manny could have continued and I would have had no idea. When I asked him why he stated "I want to earn my money not just take it from someone". Trust. That's what matters at the end of the day. This place is the worse place. They cut corners and over charge. To top it all off a few weeks go by and then the issue comes back and they say it's a different issue. The biggest flaw that did it for me was when my dad took his truck to get "fixed" and when he picked it up there was an AR-15 in back seat. The worst possible sound has to be nails on a chalk board but a close second would be the sound of squeaking brakes. My brake light went of a few days ago and it seems like that just opened up Pandora's box of sounds in my car. I cannot live like this. I needed to find a shop ASAP. Luckily a friend recommended me to stop by this shop. He's been a long time customer and he had nothing but positive feedback. It's hard to find a honest mechanic who can tell you what you actually need and not just go off a checklist of everything under the sun to make them the most profit. I came in first thing in the morning and pleased to see I was the first in line. I was greeted by Manny and he quickly got my car on the lift and inspected my car. He was very honest with me and advised me my rear brakes definitely needed to be replaced but the front brakes had about another 5k miles to go. I appreciated his truthfulness and decided I'd rather just get everything out of the way now and do both. He gave me a great deal. A couple hours later, came back to find my car was back to normal and I could get some relief knowing I wouldn't have to hear that horrendous sound for another long while again. Came for an oil change for my '12 Scion IQ. Everything was fine, Manny called and notified me of a couple things to keep an eye on but didn't need repair or replacing until 10,000 more miles. He also noticed how my battery was leaking acid and recommended checking the warranty on it to get it replaced. Ultimately, I had Midas install their battery with a 5 year warranty so that brought me peace of mind. Would return, they seem to be honest mechanics. read more

When I first got to Midas, 30 minutes early to my appointment, they told me that they wouldn't be able to take me today since someone went home early. Idk why they couldn't have called me and told me instead of completely wasting my time, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. So I go inside to reschedule, and he prints me out a receipt of the oil change I was going to get. Literally $80! He chose to take advantage of me because I am a young looking woman who came in alone! My dad takes in our other car it's always $40. The reason I went there is I bought a deal from living social. 3 oil changes for $30. At first, I thought it's pretty good deal. Guess what?? They sent me a poster card like 6X10. It's a piece of paper said free oil change, free check engine light, free tire roation, free brake adjustment, free flat tire, blah blah blah....total value $1000. ( I was like bs) It also said will charge for $3.50 oil disposable fee and other fees. This is rip off because I paid for a FULL oil change. Why do they need to charge you this and that. I will upload the post card so you guys can see it. Back to the story, I went there first time, the guy told me they only accept an appointment. Okay, so I went home and called them. They schedule me a week later on a certain time like 1pm. I went there next week. As I arrived there, I told them I had an appointment for oil change. They told me that they didn't have any oil. This place is a rip off. This is one of those places that give mechanics a bad name and why I should have driven over the hill to Whittier to go to my regular mechanic. The guy Earl is constantly trying to upsell you with services you do NOT need. Two years ago I brought my car in for an oil change and Earl is like, man you need front brakes badly, talking about safetly for the family. Do i have kids in the car, ever... That kind of stuff. So i said go ahead and do the $199 life time warranty, you never have to worry about brakes again. Of course the brake job costs $278 because of rotors/drums, whatever. I am thinking damn but at least I never have to worry about it again; Nationwide. The next time I go in there for the "cheap" 19.95 oil change, He tells me the same thing about my back brakes. This time I am like, well let me see them and when I do, I hit the roof. They are more than 80% there. Almost new but then he changes the story to the fact that its not the amount but there is a small crack in the base of the material. This guy must use a microscope because there is barely a small crack. I talk to a mechanic freind and he said that they are OK. I tell Earl that this better not happen again. So two years later I take in my car again, the front brakes are about done. Time to recoup some of that LifeTime Warranty but guess what. The warranty only includes the pads [which you can get at AutoZone for about $20]. There is a $75 fee plus turning the rotors and drums if needed [and they always need it]. I go Ape Shit, everytime i fix my brakes its going to be about $200. I have never brought my car into Earl without some other life threatening catistrophic pending damage looming about my car. He is a hoax and a liar and should be avoided. I want to try anohter Midas to see if its a Midas thing or an Earl thing. I am guessing its going to be Earl. If you find an honest mechanic, never let him go. Being around these con artists is a major stress creator and who needs more stress!!! NOT ME. read more

I used to love this place for doing brakes bug they really need their technicians to go back to school. I did my rear brakes there and the tech incorrectly installed the disc brakes with both sensors on one side so my brakes did not give me the squeal to let me know that they needed to be changed. Because of that my brakes were worn down to the metal. This place has disappointed me in a major way, I don't recommend that you go there. read more

I've been to places where they take advantage of you and tell you there's something else wrong with your vehicle. In my younger days, I was guilty of falling for such claims. Before coming to this Midas location, I was always skeptical of what different places would tell me. Now that we are regulars here, I feel like I don't have to question what I'm told. Manny is honest and won't tell you that you need something done unless it has to be done. I also think they try to give you the best price on everything. My vehicle only takes full synthetic oil and they charge me under $110. I've been to other places where they charge a lot more. Luckily I don't drive that much so I don't have to come here that often. My husband's truck's oil changes cost around $40, which is much better than mine! Although there are so many mechanics in the area, I only take my car to this Midas. So stop on by and see Manny. He will take good care of your vehicle and all its needs! read more

This is to follow up on my HORRIBLE experience with Manny and his Midas location in La Puente. I placed a complaint with Midas corporate on Sat. May 28th. and I received a call from a manager Troy Clewis on 6/4. His explanation was that Manny possibly did not relay his message clearly. Referring to an additional $3 waste fee that is always charged. I let Troy know that Manny and his staff made it very clear that they would not honor the $19.99 coupon but that they would instead charge me $24.99! Troy did acknowledge that this was not acceptable and apologized for what had happened. He offered me a voucher for one free oil change. I in return let Troy know that I felt 5 free oil changes would be fair. This is a $150 value to Midas. I believe that Manny and his staff member from Midas were very rude and did not show appreciation for the customer or care for my business. The fact that they decided to not accept the coupon even though it was not expired was ridiculous and one free oil change was not going to change my opinion. Troy then offered two free oil changes, in which I respectfully declined. This is not about a free oil change, it is about a business owner refusing to accept and deliver on a corporate written coupon that was still valid. An owner who wanted to charge me $5 more than what the coupon was for. How many customers has he done this to? That is what the bigger problem is! Manny and his MIDAS location are crooks! I hope that many people read these reviews and are warned about Midas and Manny! Midas lost a long time customer because of Manny and they decided a $150 value was not worth keeping a life long customer! I shopped around and found that Midas was reasonably priced to change my brakes out. Earlier in 2015 (April) I visited on a Saturday morning and what I thought would be an easy change of pads on my 2014 Nissan Altima, would end up being one of the worst experiences I could ever have with any retailor, shop, restaurant. I was told that I needed all 4 brakes replaced and one of the rear brake calipers was damaged so I ended up walking out paying about $700. That included an oil change, air filter and the 4 brakes. On my next oil change service I opted to take it back to my car dealership (because I had complimentary oil changes left) and I was told that the oil filter I had on my car was not the correct one and my oil was leaking. I didn't pay much attention to it and went about my business. several months later and nearly 15k miles more on my car I took it in for another oil change service and I was told that my rear brakes needed to be replaced?!? why? how? Turns out the dealership said that I had 1mm remaining and urgent attention is needed. I asked how that could be if I replaced all 4 of them in April (now December) and the technician said that it was impossible to have your rear brake pads go out before your front, especially with the amount of mileage on my car. Nonetheless, I proceeded to tell the technician that they were indeed replaced. At that point I was advised to return to the original location that serviced the car and that place was this Midas. After several attempts to resolve this dispute (3 weeks) I never heard from the company or this location. I have never felt cheated and placed into danger like I've felt going here for business. Small Claims court is my only option at this point despite providing documentation from another certified technician at a dealership showing the inspection. No one else has touched my brakes since and I have had no action taken to resolve the issue. Fair is fair and unfortunately, the business practices at this establishment are disgusting and malicious. No one likes taking their care for repair or routine service i get that, but Its still something that needs to happen. Always honest and reliable when I need him. The price of an Oil Change on my types of cars has always run more than $130+ it being a V8 Luxury Sedan and requiring Synthetic Oil. Manny has always hooked me up under a bill easy! Try going to the Dealer and get taken up the ass with a $500 oil change with flushes that I don't need. Manny once lent me his own personal truck because I had to leave my car there unexpectedly. I was referred to him by Party Bus Entertainment/ KMFG IND.
