I went to get a tire replacement. they wasn't able to fix it the flat and didnt have a replacement in stock. to manager said " we can't fix it got to Firestone " he didn't bother to try to order the tire. yes I have warranty. I came here to get an oil change. They said my oil was low although I am right on time per the Midas reminder message for my oil change. There were no leaks on my vehicle yet. I was turned away because my oil volume was low. I was told to go buy oil and put it in there myself then come back and get serviced. So I asked you would rather send a customer out with what you say is extremely low oil rather than to put just a little in or complete the oil change. They said yes and sent my car out without servicing it. I would not recommend this location. They do not care about their customers. read more

Felix is great but the manager Alex is the problem. Their system went down and Alex wanted to take a photo copy of my card to pay for it later instead of calling me ahead of time to let me know to stop for cash. Felix is the only reason the situation didn't escalate. Alex was very immature and rude about it like I caused his system to go down. He's also careless I remember a time where he was taking a car from one bay to another and almost ran over a transmission because he was too lazy to lower the hood. Had someone not yelled Alex would've caused a significant problem. Work was done well but man Alex definitely dropped the ball on this one. I called Midas today around 2:30 to find out if they could fit me in since I'm hearing a sound when I start my car. They indicated that they had time to look at it if I brought it in. Dropped it off at 3:30 and this guy said how they were really busy with two eight hour jobs! Why didn't the guy on the phone tell me this?! However, they said I could leave my car and they would get to it. Well, I return at 5:15 and they hadn't even looked at it, when they close at 6:00! Just forget it. Waste of my time when they could have informed me that they didn't have time in the first place. I just asked for my keys and left. Went in for a oil change, rear struts and exhaust pipe repair. Passenger rear shock was found to be dangling, not installed (potential projectile); exhaust pipe installed with putty, no clamps - damaged catalytic convertors. Spoke to service desk person who told me there could not be any problems as he checked the work himself. That concerned me. Which is why all of the information I provided is that from an inspection at another shop and the dealership. I went to Midas and had one of the worst experiences of my life. I went in for a check engine light and car jumping when it accelerates. Not only did they not fix the problem but my car was sounding worse when I left. I spent $946 and it was such a ripoff. They are unprofessional and rude. Earlier in the morning on October 7, 2014 I went in the Midas location on 18070 Halsted Street, Homewood, IL to get an estimate on how much brakes would cost me and was told it would be hard without them checking out my car and was asked to make an appointment for them to drive my car and then take it apart to look at it. I made the appointment for noon and arrived a few minutes before. The cashier told me that it should take no more than 30 minutes since they only had one car in front of me and by my count they had 8 employees working at that time. After more than 10 minutes of waiting a tech went outside and took my car for a test ride and came back and put it into the garage. At first they opened my hood and started checking my engine oil dip stick and took a flashlight looking around the battery. Then they proceeded lifting the car up and took the tires off and after doing so the techs went on break, talking for approximately 16 minutes before someone stated that they need to finish up looking at my car. A tech went to the right front wheel which is away from the waiting area with what appeared to be the largest wrench (such as a 1 5/16 in) and a very large locking plier. The tech was working on the right front wheel for a good 7 minutes before moving to the the rear right wheel with the same tools. he spent another 5 minutes inspecting and putting the tools on the rear wheel. After he was done, the tech dispersed for over 15 minutes. I asked the cashier if he can look into what is taking so long and he went back in the garage and talked to a different tech. He came back and told me that they are still working on the car but it should be a few more minutes as they have to measure the padding. Another 10 minutes passed and finally I saw a tech come to me car with a tape measure and started measuring the length of the front rotors went back in a area where customers cannot see. My patience was becoming very thin and I asked the cashier to asked the tech to put my car back together as I had to get back to work. He went back in the garage and spoke with two techs and then came back telling me that they will be rapping up in a few minutes. I saw through the glass window two techs lowering my car as they were to put the tires back on but instead looked at the engine with a flashlight and stood there for 3 minutes. Then instead of putting the tires back on they lifted the car back up and started inspecting the muffler with the flashlight. I was not pleased to see them wasting my time. I told the cashier that they need to give me my car back as I needed to go. After another 4 minutes passed and they finally started putting the tires back and one tech gave the inspection report to the cashier for him to ring me out. According to the documents, I needed complete new front brakes and rotor and a cleaning and greasing of my back brakes. The total was over $429. I was asked if I will be taking care of this now as the pads were dangerously worn out. I told them that I have t go to work but will return after. Once I left the shop I went straight to a independent muffler and brake shop and asked their opinion as to the cost to replace the front brakes. After the tech removed my tires he immediately went to his manager and spoke softly. Then the manager came to me and asked my why I need to change my brakes and rotors when they are virtually brand new with more than 80% padding left. I told them that I did not remember when was the last time that I changed them and with winter coming, I just wanted to be safe. I also told them that the folks at Midas in Homewood (showing them the document that they gave me) told me that my life was endanger if I did not change the brakes and rotors. The manager told me to write a formal complaint to Midas and anyone else that will listen as I was a victim of a crime. So here I am writing my story of what occurred to me yesterday. Please have someone do something about the employees crooked ways. As for me and my family we will be staying away from Midas. read more

I get my oil changed here, and that is it. I only come here because they accept those SpeeDee Oil Change coupons. If my car were to ever need any work, it would go to another place. I like the customer service here, but one time I brought my car in for an oil change, which was supposed to include a tire rotation, floor vacuuming and front and rear windshield cleaning, but of course only one out of the four actually occurred. However, I must thank them for making me aware of what goes on with my vehicle. They are informed about pretty much any car here, but they make too many mistakes for my taste. Would give this a zero stars but not an option. Not sure if ownership changed or what but they DO NOT stand behind their product. Bought 2 brand new tires from them that refuse to hold air. They told my credit card company that I didn't buy the road hazard insurance (which I was never told about but would not have bought anyway) because after all isn't it the job of tires to HOLD AIR! They do not stand behind their product or try to help you the consumer. I now have to purchase two more tires because these still need to be filled every few days. Will never go back again and advise you to definitely find someplace else to go. ps: when i disputed the charge with my credit card company, they sent me a copy of the list of lies that Midas sent them detailing the experience. This story starts out in Michigan city. Car overheated on the way to the Michigan city zoo. Found a Midas 2 blocks from where I stopped and was able to get the car to their location. They said I needed a new radiator. This was installed at $500. 1 week later, the car overheats again. Assuming all Midas stores are the same, I tow the car to this Midas in Homewood. Joe tells me I need a thermostat (which was replaced a year ago), a water pump, and the housing, costing me $950. They installed all of this. 1 week later, car overheats AGAIN. Tow it in, Greg tells me I need a new tensioner and a tensioner belt at $600. This is a 16 year old car worth $1100 now with $1500 worth of work on it. I had it towed out to the place I normally take my car. They discovered that the clip that plugs in to run the fan was broke and would vibrate out within the week of driving. Did I REALLY need all that work done???? I feel like I was TOTALLY ripped off by these guys and I am telling EVERYONE I know my story and warning them to STAY AWAY from Midas. read more

NEVER NEVER WILl GO TO this Homewood location, however this Midas Homewood took a turn for the worst. I took my Envoy SUV in for repair of a cable shifter. I was going to do the work myself but did not want to wait for the part. On July 28, 2015 was the upset they tore out my center console banged my door chip the paint, grease and oil on carpet, broke lighter caps. Check this on Dec. 11 2015 I was told to get my SUV off property I was threaten cursed . If this is your kind of service here it is I'll never go back. I have video and pictures. read more

Midas is Midas... this location in particular is one that I frequent often. This time notice a lot of little bugs around. There was a lady who was overly sensitive to the presence of insects and bugs and expressed concern to the staff. The staff did not show willingness to acknowledge the infestation of pests. More or less attempted to make the lady feel as if she was out of place and that pest are normal. Overall my job got done and completed to my satisfaction. read more

We will never take our cats there nor would we recommend this to any one. A job that was to take approximately 3hours at approximately $400.00 ended up taking 5 days at close to $1000.00 a the car is worse than it was before! Also we got financing to pay for the $900.00it ended up costing and we paid that off early and they took a payment anyway. We had paid it electronically from our bank, but because they wanted a paper check instead unknown to us it will end up costing us an additional $40.00. To this my reply is BS! When trying to bring up the original contract on line I couldn't! We will never deal with Midas not get financing through them! They also charge an annual percentage rate of 241.99 percent. Took 3 days for appointment for brakes, but they weren't able to start at the scheduled time. I was hoping to see the condition of my brakes but they assured me it would be hours before they could do anything. It wasn't until the day was almost over that I called to find out what was going on. I was told laughingly that they hadn't gotten the parts yet. I had to explain to them that I needed to find someone to drive me and needed to know what time they would be done by. I'm hear past the time they assured me it would be done and still dont know when I'll be out of here. Every customer that has come and gone while I wait has had some problem or issue with them. Oil change was negligently done. The oil plug was not put in correctly and fell out, spilling all the oil in a trail as I was driving to work. The engine got very loud and making grinding noise, so I pulled over and discovered the mess. Midas would only compensate me for the oil, not the plug. So, for $5.60 they'd rather have an angry customer. Never go there. After talking to friends and neighbors, they all seem to have bad experiences with Midas. read more

Over the years I have avoided as much as possible using franchises or corporate owned repair shops for my cars. That mindset has been changed forever thanks to a recent visit at the Midas shop in Homewood on Halsted., There is an employee there named Mike and he delivers the absolute best customer service I have ever experienced, There were more than a couple of us getting our cars serviced and Mike kept everyone informed at every step, and always did so in the most pleasant manner, I was really impressed when he brought in to explain exactly what was being repaired on my car, and what the difference in performance would be, At one point a rather rude customer came in, pretty much demanding to be taken care of immediately. Mike calmly explained to her how he was helping everyone else and how quickly he could get to her. i am positive it didn't take as long as he promised before he was assisting her, He and the mechanics were working in synch so well it was amazing, Unlike a lot of shops where the floor person and the mechanics seem to take forever to tell you what you need worked on, these guys were fast and like Mike very good at explaining anything I didn't understand, I really, really appreciated that aspect of the visit, One other thing you should know, if you are a coffee drinker, Mike will make a fresh pot for you, read more

I don't recommend this place for service, they are very unprofessional. We had an appointment for service but arrived quite earlier than the appointment the light skin guy who is supposedly a manager was saying he would get us in since we were early there was about an hour wait time. We left the vehicle and came back about an hour in a half later. Where as the car was still outside waiting. I approach him and ask him why was the car still not serviced he sarcastically and says what you mean because there were other cars ahead of you. I said you said that a hour ago and we have an appointment his nonchalant attitudes and careless demeanor of people time and money is baffling. I will be calling corporate to report this facility.
