I needed to get my truck inspected today. They said they could do it. Apparently my 3 year old truck needs a front end alignment and the left front tire needed replaced. Last time I went there, I asked the owner (Matt) a question about my bill and he went crazy and started complaining about customers always giving him grief. I simply asked a question. I made an appointment to bring my car in to have my one break light replaced. After waiting a half hour, an employee came in the waiting area and told me I was all set. I thought it was odd because I hadn't noticed them move my car from the parking lot into the garage, but after I asked him if he was sure, he assured me again that I was all taken care of. I assumed I must have just missed them taking my car in and thought it must have been a quick repair. It wasn't until later that day when I saw my 'Check right brake light' alert still on my dash that I checked, and found out they had never replaced it. I will not be giving Midas in Carlisle my business anymore. read more

I have always had great service at the Carlisle Midas garage. However recently their work has been slacking. To the point that I'm going to take my business elsewhere. I recently took my car in for an oil change. I waited and waited. I was told later when paying my bill that they didn't have the oil filter in stock. It had to be special ordered as a rush and delivered from the local NAPA people. Keep in mind that I had an appointment and Midas new the make and model of my car. As soon as I left, the car was chugging and sputtering. As soon as I got home I had it towed to the dealership. Turns out that the Midas technician who changed the oil didn't fully put the dip stick back. Apparently late model cars rely on a vacuum that is created in the crank case. Without the stick being fully pushed in to create a seal the car starts blowing smoke and miss firing. I also learned that the extra quart of oil Midas charged me for was never put in. The dealership had to put it in to top it off. This was nothing more than carelessness on Midas's part. Needless to say I won't be returning any time soon. read more

I called this morning to schedule an oil change. When I said I would like it as soon as possible, they said bring it in today, anytime it suits me. I liked that I did not have to wait two weeks to get it done. They rotate the tires as a courtesy during oil changes, and told me that I should think about getting the rear brakes pads replaced in the next few months, because they were getting very worn. I had noticed myself that braking did not seem as responsive as it once was, so I think it was an accurate assessment on their part. I asked if they could do it while I was there and they said that they could. It did not take long for all the work to be completed in spite of other cars to service. They have a good crew who know what they are doing. The brake pads have a lifetime guarantee at any Midas Service Center. I was pleased with the professional and polite way they did everything. For many years I have taken my cars to Matt and his team. They always tell me when to expect a maintenance issue coming up such as tires, brakes, etc. Their work is always done correctly and sometimes if desperate, they will allow me to come in to fix a small problem. Really, truly fabulous service. I was stuck in town on my way across the state with mysterious car trouble that came and went but seemed pretty serious given the distance I was traveling. They made time for me without an appointment the same morning I called. Matt at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, and really put me at ease and made sure he understood everything that was happening. Darryl was also great, and actually took the time to show me what was wrong under the hood so that I'd know for later (I needed to be on my way, so they wouldn't be able to order the necessary parts in time - would have been just the next day though). He clearly cared, and wanted to make sure I had enough information to not get ripped off wherever I ended up getting the repairs done. Both of them talked me through all the options and helped me make an informed decision on what to do. They declined to charge me for the time they spent looking at the car and running tests, which I fully expected to pay. As a young woman, I sometimes get nice enough service when I take my car to the shop, but never have gotten service so sincere and kind, without a hint of condescension. I highly recommend these folks to anyone looking for auto care in the area. read more

Honest dealing, straight shooters, in and out in an hour and a half. Car was not going into gear. They took it for a test-drive and, of course, it ran fine, so they recommended some preventative maintenance - a transmission flush. Reasonably priced and fast. SO glad to have them in town! read more

My 18 yr old daughter and 2 friends were traveling to WV on Friday night and they broke down in Carlisle. We live out of state and had never been there. We started looking online for someplace open at 6:30 Friday night and there wasn't anything. We could only find 1 place open on Saturday. Midas! We had the car towed there and called them at 7:00 am. They were completely booked yet they found time to look at our car. Matt was very nice and although never made us any promises he was able to diagnose it, find the part on a Saturday, and fix it. He told us he won't ask his guys to stay after closing, 1:00, so if they couldn't get it done it would have to wait until Monday. He called us 2 hours later and it was finished and he did it for less that what he had quoted us.
