When it comes to equipment, these people know what they're doing. From the smallest lawn mower to the biggest combine, Mid-State has them all and services them. They are a full-line dealer of John Deere, Bobcat and Kubota. I don't really care about Bobcat or Kubota, since I'm never going to buy any of them, but I do care about my John Deere equipment. They also carry Stihl, Wacker-Neuson, Scag, Landoll and Kuhn. (Besides toys for adults, they have toys for kids, t-shirts, hats, tools and other sundry accessories.) I bought my Deere tractor from an independent dealer about 15 years ago, and he always took care of me. The owner's son has been slowly taking over and the kid screwed me over on a simple repair job. You only get one shot at screwing me, so the next time I needed work done on my tractor, I called Mid-State. The job was done quickly and correctly, and at a fair price, to boot. Mid-States has a reputation for being a little pricey, but so far, I have not experienced that myself. They have already done engine repair for me and quickly repaired my snowblower so I could get out of my driveway last Winter. I dropped my mower deck at the Jackson location last week for a Spring check-over and blade sharpening. (I was trying to avoid the pick-up and delivery charge, which is actually reasonable. I use their pick up service when I need work done on my tractor, since it is far too heavy for my dainty little utility trailer.) By the end of the week, Keri called me to let me know the job was complete. I had told them the trailing edge of the blades was probably sharper than the leading edge and might need to be replaced. Sure enough, one of the blades was bent (I painfully remember the awful noise when it happened) and they replaced all three blades. Per my request, they greased everything, replaced the difficult-to-get-to drive belt and cleaned the underside of the deck. The cost was reasonable and less than I expected. I hope my old dealer enjoyed his surf 'n' turf dinner - several of them - because that is the last cash he'll ever see from me! Mid-State is now my John Deere dealer of record. Wally the Service Tech stopped out at my place to fix my John Deere 1070 tractor and did a super job on my tractor he seemed very knowledgeable and got my tractor running to its peak performance. A few years ago I purchased a John Deere 997 zero turn from the Jackson Mid- States facility and this zero turn is totally awesome, John L. my sales Rep hooked me up me up big time. Worst service I have ever experienced with an equipment service company! I dropped my lawn mower off and after two weeks of hearing nothing, I called and I was told "they would get to it in a week." My wife and I are trying to sell our home and without a mower, we were forced to pay for a private mowing company to come out and mow the lawn before the open house. We ended up having to drive back to pick up the mower and take it to another service provider. To make matters worse, when I walked into the service center to pick up my mower, the service guys were sitting on their butts twiddling their thumbs. Avoid the hassle and poor service and just go somewhere else even if you have to drive 30mins out. Pathetic...At least call your customers after 2 weeks. It's the summer for crying out loud and the grass isn't going to mow itself!!! read more

To keep a long story short, only go to Mid State if you want to get completely ripped off! I had dropped off a riding mower for service with a request to call me before any service was completed. They called me the next day saying it was completed and charged me over $200 for what was supposed/expecting to be a $65/repair. They also took it upon themselves to repair some parts that I didn't even ask them to look at. The store manager agreed to take a tiny portion off of the bill but it didn't seem fair to me. Talked to the owner and he still wouldn't do anything, even though they admitted fault to not calling me ahead of time. I would never go back there and don't recommend anyone else to shop with them or have any service work done. read more
