I want to say how helpful I have found Paul the Arborist to be. He explains things in a common…read moresense way, offers guidance to address the problem and returns after a period of time to ensure improvement or possible reassessment if needed. He is very knowledgeable and with a reasonable approach to tackling challenges. The reason I did not give 5 stars was because when I was initialing reaching out for diagnosis of a poorly tree, I was told over several days-weeks that I would be contacted (the Arborist sets his own schedule), that there was a backlog. I accepted this, but later learned that the person was actually on scheduled time away. I just wish I would have been told this from the start as opposed to repeatedly saying he was backlogged. Big thanks to Paul!!!

The owner of browns tree service Troy is a liar and a bad business man. He quoted me for a tree…read morethat fell on my house and promised extra steps for no additional charge to help cover and secure the holes in my roof only to come the next day after I signed his contract and say he didnt tell me he was going to do any of it and didnt do any of it.He quoted me a price to remove EVERYTHING in my yard that was part of the tree and then came out the next day and told me he couldn't remove the tree stump (which was huge) and was planning on leaving it there unless i agreed to pay an additional 1200 dollars. He told me we addressed the stump issue the day prior, which was another lie. He yelled at me in front of his entire crew when I called him out on his lies and got right in my face at my doorstep. I yelled back and he got upset and stormed off and left for the remainder of the job. Then sent his project manager out to smooth everything over with me a week and a half later because he couldnt be the professional he should be as a business owner. His crew did great work, but as the owner of a business, you shouldn't be treating your customers that way. It didnt matter to him though because i was obligated to pay either way. I will never use browns tree service again and do not recommend you do either. Avoid the headache!

If you need a tree removed in the Topeka area, Heartland needs to be one of the contenders to call for an estimate. Pricing is reasonable and hard to beat. Give these guys a shot.

They also did an amazing job removing the stump, and cleaning up the debris from the entire area. I would use their services again, and highly recommend them to anyone else!

We hired J & W Construction to put on Gutter Screens. Two young men arrived in the morning and…read moreworked until noon. Then, they left without saying anything. They left tools and pieces of gutter screen on the roof, so I assumed they were taking a lunch break; they never returned. Since parts of our roof are quite high, there was no way to verify if the work had been completed. After a couple of days, we called the company to ask if they were done with the installation. They said they would send someone out to check. Months went by. Nothing. Then we got a bill in the mail. We called again and asked if they had completed the work and if so, if they could please come by and remove the things they left behind. They said they would send someone by who would verify that the work had been complete and would remove the tools and pieces of screens. Nothing. Two months went by, the tools disappeared, but the pieces of gutter screen that were scattered all over our roof were never removed. I received a bill with a $200 late fee for non-payment and a note that said if it was not paid in full in two weeks, they would place a lien on the property. When asked if the work had been complete, they said, I'm not sure, I'll send someone by to check. When I complained about the $200 late fee, they said they would waive it if we paid the the original bill in full. So, I paid my bill to avoid a court case. At the very least the lower gutters have the screen on them, but I still don't know if the work on the upper gutters was ever completed.
