Absolutely mortified to see that he is still practicing!…read more
While filling out my son's passport, I saw his name on the birth certificate, and all of my delivery trauma came rushing back.
13 years ago, my son came 2 weeks early, and this so-called Dr Kojian was the doctor on call for my regular OB. I came into the hospital at 8cm dilated, with normal contractions, not asking for an epidural, complying with the nurses ' instructions. I had just had a baby 14 months prior, and my body seemed very comfortable with my labor, no complications, healthy baby, strong heartbeat.
When he came in as the on-call doctor, he forced himself to check my dilation and immediately ruptured my water. No "hello", no bedside manner, he didn't even know my name, let alone my medical history.
In that moment, I requested twice for him not to rip my water, that I wanted to have my water break naturally, as it had just 14 months before with my other son.
He didn't even acknowledge me, but he still did it against my wishes. No conversation or any explanation of what he was doing.
It all happened so fast, MY IV WAS BARELY IN, AND MY EPIDURAL HAD NOT EVEN STARTED TO TAKE ANY EFFECT YET! I FELT EVERYTHING.
I immediately became hypertensive, my normal contractions became so strong, and my baby's heartbeat became distressed.
I yelled at him that my medication in my IV had not finished, and he had no right to take it upon himself to do what he did. And without any hesitation or professionalism, he reacted with the fragile ego of a 2-year-old and puffed his chest to let me know that I was not allowed to talk to him like that. I was not allowed to be upset as he had just put the health and safety of my baby and me at risk.
I refused to answer any of his intake questions after that, INLCUDING what my name or DOB was. My contractions were fast and incredibly painful. With the help of the nurse who checked me in, we were able to remove him from the delivery room. My son came maybe 10 min later with the sweetest older gentleman who was the ER DR that night.
I tried to report Kojian to St Joseph when I delivered back in 2012, but they let me know that he was an independent contracted Dr and that they could not do anything. Zero accountability. With a new baby and another son under 2, I was overwhelmed and never went about filing a suit or flagging his license to the medical board. To this day, it has been my biggest regret. I hate that his name is on my son's birth Certificate; he caused me and my family nothing but trauma and distress.
Beware, do not allow this man anywhere near you if you value your dignity, health, and safety.
