Once I was married & we had complicated things to add, we made sure to go to Viet. I used to get to make an appointment with him in person & he answered any & all of my questions, before I filed. But sadly COVID hit & things changed to online. My husband & I have changed careers several times since 2022, & we had a baby, so there are several things to add into your taxes. This year, we spent over $15k in medical expenses, had our first child, & hoped we would get some kind of a tax refund. But unfortunately that didn't happen. When I asked about adding money to our IRAs, or why we didn't get to file itemized, or how else we can reduce our tax bracket, we were told it was a "paid question that required a paid appointment". Anyway, I think you can get your own taxes done for free or less than you're charged by this guy. He can't help you with basic questions without requiring money so... stay aware & ask questions!

I like how I'm able to scan and email (or in my case share a OneDrive folder) of the collected forms and W2s and he can take it from there. Invoicing is clear and straight forward with itemization, a bit more expensive than the HR Block I used to use but a lot more convenient and helpful from my viewpoint. Joel was a warm and welcoming person when we met and we really liked him. I remember leaving his office that day and told my husband, I think we found ourselves a good CPA where we can go back each year and don't have to hop from one place to another when tax season approaches. However, we were promised that we'd hear back within a few days. Nothing. My husband called and was told our file was in a queue. Indeed we understand that it is tax season - the busiest of all for CPAs. But the quality of service is also as important. We did not hear back as promised and after calling their office 5-6 times, my husband got really tired so we decided to go there. When we arrived, Joel came out from his office and saw us (was on the phone), but went back inside. His colleague next door greeted us and went to Joel after he got off the phone. He told his colleague to tell us to leave a message. That was pretty rude. For the price range of $1000-$1500, we deserve better treatment than this. Perhaps Joel overbooked his clients and couldn't handle or $1500 did not worth his while? We'll take our business elsewhere and you should too!
