I really can't visit a craft store without supervision. There are always sales. But I was on a mission to use my voucher before it expired. I got yarn. The yarns get pricey, unless there is a sale. I was happy to get a cashier instead of the self check out (better service that way). read more

On Saturday May 17th I went to Michael's to discuss a small project i wanted to do. I had the pleasure of being helped by Victoria (V), who was extreamly knowledgeable, polite and took her time to explain all the services Michaels offers with the project i proposed. While I have never had a bad experience at Michael's in general, I have never recieved this kind of customer service. She really went out of her way to ensure all my questions were answered and showed me samples. She ensured I was satisfied and all my questions were answered before she moved on to help someone else. In my opinion her work ethic should be considered the standard. I'd like to congratulate Michael's on having such an outstanding employee she should definitely be commended if not promoted. Paid over $200 for a framing of a golf pin flag. It was wrinkled and crooked. I asked for it to be redone. I returned again and it looked exactly the same. I was told in a voicemail that it's just the way it is and that's how they look. Not true as I have other golf pin flags that look professional and straight. I was then told at the store that it is the quality of the flag. Although I do not believe her to be an expert on golf pin flags. This also does not explain the wrinkles that are in the flag. I gave Michaels a chance for framing as I live in a new area but I will certainly seek out a professional framing company. read more

York is very limited in stores for yarn. I have always been able to find what yarn I needed for my crochet projects. My favorite brand is Lion Brand Yarn. This being said, I took a trip to the York & Lancaster Michael's. neither store had more than 2 vertical rows of Lion Brand Yarn. Neither store had my needed colors. What I did find was a lot of Caron Cakes & Red Heart. Why can't there be a better balance of products? There was an entire aisle of chunky yarn. Is there really that big of a need for that yarn. So I had to go home and order the yarn I needed. I was not able to order 1 or 2 skeins but had to order 3 of each color I needed, and it won't arrive for a week. I wanted to start a sweater for my granddaughter that day. To say I'm frustrated is mild. I only wish I had a real yarn store locally. read more

As an artist, I often shop at Michaels to buy different types of flowers to create floral arrangements and then set up a still life scene to paint . Michaels carries a variety of silk flower and plants that meet my needs. They also sell art supplies at very reasonable and competitive prices. A great selection of vases and other supplies that really meet my needs. I rate Michaels as outstanding and dependable. The workers are always very helpful,courteous and knowledgeable on the stores merchandise. A great store! read more

I bought a pack of 72 jewelry making things the other day and discovered 32 were made wrong and unusable. I tried to post a bad review but they rejected it. I guess this is similar to all the fake reviews on Amazon and Ebay. Just lie, lie, lie about your products to fool your customers into buying them. Cheat, cheat, cheat and never be beat. The greater York area has 2 craft stores, AC Moore and Michaels. Upon first glance, AC Moore is quite a bit cheaper than Michael's, but their supply is limited, unlike the AC Moore in Lancaster. But, if you use the internet you'll find that Michael's runs regular specials, often times 30, 40, and 50% off regular priced items and the coupons can be used at each visit until they expire, they aren't one-time use coupons. That being said, Michael's has a much better and larger selection AND better prices when the coupons are used. And to me, their store seems cleaner than AC Moore, again, York only. I selected pricey in additional comments because if you don't take advantage of the internet coupons, they are priced higher than most craft stores. *On a more important side note - Within two weeks of each other, first, I bought a package of drawing markers. When I got them home and opened them, they had obviously been used. Someone had chewed on the end of one of the markers and one marker was missing the felt tip. I returned them. Later in the week I was there for a drawing kit and noticed the package of open markers back on the shelf. When I opened it, the same chewed marker was in the pack. They put a product I specifically told them was used back on the shelf for someone else to purchase. That same day I bought a wooden boxed drawing set. When I got that home and opened it, it was missing pieces, the erasers were black with charcoal, the pencils were worn. I was very upset and called Michael's within a hour of buying it. They did not have another one but said they could get one from Lancaster by the middle of the following week. That would not have helped with the craft day I was spending with my grandkids. It is obvious that when they take returns, they automatically return the used/defective item to the shelf, no matter the condition. They blamed it on inexperienced and careless seasonal help. Even if the first employee to return the markers was seasonal, the one who did my return was not seasonal in April. I consider that very poor practice and something that ends up costing the customer more in gas than what they might have saved on a coupon. BUYER BEWARE! read more
