It was so new in fact that it wasn't yet listed on Yelp and I couldn't check in. I just happened to have an item I needed to return from another location with me and since I was right there I popped in. While it was a typical Dollar General in alot of ways there were several noticeable differences,specifically in the housewares section. THEY HAD DISPLAYS! I'm talking full blown thoughtfully decorated displays of merchandise like Target has. Modern farmhouse style is in right now and that's what was front and center. So many choices too, everything from towels, trinkets, dishes, flowers, arrangements, etc, all themed to that style. They had a much bigger selection of housewares in general than any other location I've been to. And who doesn't love a good Dollar General?!? Now I love them even more! I suspect since this is a new location that it is the "model" for what they will all eventually be. I can't wait. Once I pried myself away from home decor they had all the other depts, however much more inventory and choices in general because they used a very high shelving system. The cashier was happy to take my return even though it was purchased elsewhere (no receipt either so he gave me a gift card). Markers and shields were in place due to covid and while they didn't sanitize the carts for you they did supply spray and towels. 4 stars because I would be afraid of the parking lot at night. The way the store is positioned employees can't really see you and the parking lot is quite expansive. Because this is right off an exit to a major highway with heavy truck traffic and stands alone it would be easy to get snatched. Just sayin'

And they're using every inch of space they have on new books, used books, and cute and fun merch. So it likely to have every book you're looking for? Definitely not. But it's a charming little spot (with very friendly customer service) that is worth a visit if you're passing by - browse their selection, and you might find something surprising and wonderful on their shelves!

Even though the shop is small, they have an excellent selection of books, as well as some gift items. They also have a very tiny used book section. Even though it's barely as big as a closet, it has an incredibly well-curated selection of reasonably priced used books in great condition. I was excited to discover a book on the shelves that I'd been unable to find in other used bookstores. This location is a great addition to downtown - definitely stop in when you're in the neighborhood!

You can sit at a table and chairs or an armchair in the back room upstairs, and there's cute seating for kids or families in the children's book rooms. But not having as much shelving does mean that they didn't have several books and authors I was looking for. If I lived locally, I'm sure they order books that they don't have in stock! Personally, I don't mind the neighborhood and have never had any issues here. I have always felt safe and secure. The store itself is fairly small but pretty clean. They tend to get some interesting buys in there at some insanely good prices. The quantities can be limited but if you get their special buys, you can save a ton of money off of regular grocery store or even Sam's Club prices. I find that their perishables are of decent quality, especially the produce. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful in finding stuff as well. One big caveat, bring your own grocery bags or be prepared to buy theirs.

I work full time hours or more. The store was always understaffed. No one wanted to stay. You have lots of people that get hired and do no call no shows. I never did that. I was always early. I worked earlier then I had to and longer then I had to all this company cares about is the bottom line. What can I do for them. I come in on my days off and it never mattered it never was enough. I admit I never got everything done I was told too. When you are on register and told to do other stuff it impossible to do. This company needs to learn that not all it stores run the same. Little stores can get stuff done but this is a bigger store and needs more people that it has and better pay. Lastly the one person that is to blame is Staurt Sivak. He is the worse District Manager I ever known. All he does is complain and complain. I can't count how many times this store been #1 in the district and not one word. He treats this district like it the army. It the chain of command. If he had a problem he reports it to the manager and then the manager tells you. They tried to fire me months ago because of low transaction. You can't force people to buy a certain amount if things to satisfy there bottom line. He a bully and a jerk. That store since I started there in December 22, 2016 has been through 3 managers. He was never satisfied with the first two I worked for and the new manager unless things change will not do any better. So all I have to say is I glad I don't work for this company anymore and I suggest you don't work for them either. It too much of a headache and you will lose your mind for low pay. I have never seen so much decor that I personally would put in my place. The prices aren't bad, could be better but they don't tax a lot. I have had a good experience in terms of service and staff every time I've gone. My only gripes are with the website and the exterior. The website can be very buggy at times, with it sometimes crashing and not properly filtering/sorting the way you want. The exterior layout of the parking lot isn't terrible, but the location can be insanity with traffic depending on what time you go. If you don't mind being in possibly some of the worst traffic in York county, it's worth it. Highly recommend their new Hyphen pod device, as someone who goes through 1g carts within a day and a half, their 3g pod has lasted me almost 2 weeks, with it still not running out yet!
