So I used to come here a while ago when the customer service was awesome! I ran in here to get a couple of things for my daughter's birthday party at school and no one greeted me. There were three employees at the register and they were all speaking to one another. There were a few self-service registers so the other customers on myself just chose those and checked out. No one said hello, no one said goodbye. What a shame! They do sell balloons though since party city closed so that's a good thing! They unfortunately don't have a great selection of Disney styles, but they do have a few. I think it's comparable to Publix so they also blow up from outside purchases too. read more

We purchased 2 Christmas trees and both worked, so we decorated, the next night, one did not work any longer, so it worked one 6 hour period. After we trouble shorted the issue and discovered it was the plug, I called the number on the instructions first time I sat on hold for 47.23 minutes, then again another 34.41 minutes. So I then drove to Michaels, I was told by the Manager that there was nothing they could do, Ashland is a separate company and Michaels will not return them, fix or exchange. So we have a decorated tree that is not lit, Basically a throw away. So the Manager said you can call 1-800 Michaels but we were on hold with them for now going on 48.31 minutes. So basically we flushed money away! Hard to imagine a company would be this irresponsible with their service, but here we are. read more

They recently put in new self checkout machines. I went to use them and had a hard time using my coupon because the image wasn't displaying correctly from the email. (You could barely see that barcode) When you press that you need assistance a little tiny light on the top of the machine lights up. It displays a message that someone will be on their way shortly but I still had to ask someone to come and help. She saw us standing there but I'm not sure if she realized that we had called for help or how that process works. I'm not sure why Michael's doesn't have it set up when you put your phone number in it automatically it pulls up your coupons. So I ended up having to sign in to my account online, in order to get onto my account and then finally was able to use my coupon. I can only imagine how frustrating this would be for an elderly customer. Would definitely recommend corporate to take a look at these machines to find a better way for customers to make their purchases. Especially if you want people like me to continue shopping there. I have no problem with self check out but I do have a problem with it not working. Either update your email codes so you can actually see the barcode or have it load when you put in your number. If you come here hoping to use any coupons I definitely recommend using the cashier lane instead. read more

I like going to Michaels. It makes me feel like I can maybe attempt, to try to craft!! LOL. The store is well lit. Nicely organized and everyone is very helpful. On this particular occasion I was looking for new journal. Because the signage is very visible, I found the aisle immediately. Unfortunately, on this occasion, they did not have what a needed. I did find beautiful planners and calendars. Also, already, fall decor. The cashiers are always eager to assist in providing any available coupons. Michael's is great. read more

Clean, easy to shop, and all the expected merchandise you would want from this location. We had it in because we were in the area and I needed a few supplies in order to make some flowers. I'm admittedly not a big fan of the Waterford area because the parking and traffic just not fun. But, this location is worth it cause Michaels are getting fewer between in Orlando! The one closest to us just closed it's doors, so we've been going further out to get what we need. I like that they have a standard set-up overall for the chain and that it's easy to navigate regardless of which you go into. This one is the same. They place items together by their category - like paper, wedding, yarn, art, etc. They were quick on the registers as well so it was easy to get in and out. Overall: A Solid store with all the normal jazz. I especially love their seasonal decor and craft supplies. read more

I am a HUGE fan of this Michaels location. They usually have items in stock, the store is clean, and most importantly, the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. I came here for materials to decorate my grad cap and, like many before me, I was doing this last minute with absolutely no plan. I had to stop myself from blowing *all* my money because this location had such cute crafts and decorations. I also noticed a bunch of discount sections and sale tags, which helped make my basket cheaper. By the time I made it to the register, I had a basket full of items selected purely by whim. The employee checking me out was super friendly and engaging and which I appreciate since I'm generally anxious/awkward. She helped me brainstorm based on what I had selected, applied my discounts, and even made sure I had 2 copies of my receipt (print and email) for anything I ended up not using. Making my return a week later was just as painless and I was helped my another kind and patient employee. I never expected to develop such a fondness for a Michaels (??) but this experience cemented that this location is high on my list of whenever I need craft supplies. WOW, no matter what we are working on Michaels always comes through. My wife has been digging through and organizing decades' worth of photographs; and, we really needed storage boxes. Not only did Michaels have what we needed, they had it at a terrific price! SCORE! We also picked up other photo supplies, such as tape, new blades to crop and trim, etc. Great spot, great stop! read more

I really like this store and prefer coming here over Joann's just across the street. It's always well kept and gives me great craft ideas. I do find it expensive, however, but really have been pleased with the quality of their products. I've also found their staff friendly - although I've never asked for help with anything but the checkout process has always been smooth. read more

Wow. Crafts galore, anyone? Well-stocked and clean, this Michael's is the place to hit up if you don't have time to drive down to Samflax. The staff is really friendly and will try their hardest to give you whatever discounts are availabe (students get discounts and on Tuesdays, so do AARP members). The only bad thing would probably be the lack of staff members around; so if you need help, you'll have to either scour every aisle or go to the front or flower area for help. read more

One of my favorite places to go after Christmas is Michael's. I love to get all the clearance items for 70% off. One of the cool things about having different stores in different areas, is that you can find different things at different stores. I first went to the store by Carmax in Orlando, and found several items that were on 70% off that I would use for next year's Christmas gifts as well as replenishing some of my craft supplies. I found only a few of the same items at the store, but more deals on different items then I could really use for next year's Christmas gifts. I will give you a tip, scan the barcode on the items you're buying to see if they're cheaper online. I was told by one of the managers that as long as it didn't have some certain letter in the SKU online they will match the price at the register. The great thing about Michael's is the variety of items and their organization makes finding things easy. My daughter likes browsing the kid craft isles. The service is usually good but tonight there was only one register open so checkout took a long time. Other than that I love Michael's and could lose track of time exploring in there. read more

Great new Michael's store. The staff is super friendly and the store is always clean. Great selection of Rubber Stamps and Scrapbooking. The only complaint is that it seems there is only one cashier on duty everytime I go in there so be prepared to wait in line. Absolutely awful everyone was so rude ! I was trying to price match an item like stated I could do on their website. It's literally their own rules !! So the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is that a young brunette girl helped me in the frames section and literally made the biggest difference in my framing experience. She asked me about gift wrap and even cleaned the glass off and everything. She was wonderful and why I went back with another print. My second experience was the 20th of December, so I do understand they're quite busy. I worked retail during black friday/christmas it can be overwhelming. Not only were they extremely hard to ask for help, the lady flat out refused to put the print in for me. I paid for the cuts and had asked if she could use the same tape as the last girl, since it allows you to be able to move the print. She said no and tried to tell me to buy the tape. Okay, that is fine, but can you at least spray the glass down after I put it in? No. I should have gotten her name, because her and the other girl back in the framing department were just some of the rudest people I've had to encounter. I won't never come back, but I won't go to anyone else for my frames other than the first girl who helped me. Sorry to rant.. read more

I have shopped here a few times lately, looking for frames and mats. With the mats it's extremely frustrating because they only order 6 of each (unless it's black or white). Same with frames - a limited number of each style. Works if you are looking for a single special frame but not if you are trying to do a series of pictures. Took my three year old daughter here tonight in the pouring rain and wind to paint flower pots for Halloween. Last Sunday they had a circular in the paper saying from 6-8pm they were having flower pot painting for the kids (if you purchase the flower pot) in honor of Halloween. We went through the b.s. of getting there through the traffic on Alafaya and the rain and arrived a few minutes after 7pm. We scurried through the downpour and into the store. We walked around looking for the area they were painting in and much to my dismay there wasn't one. I found an associate in the store and stopped her long enough to ask if they were indeed hosting it. She looked at me as if I had horns and made it more than obvious that she was not happy I was interrupting her sticker arranging (or whatever menial task she was doing at the time) to ask her one simple question "Is your store hosting flower pot painting tonight from 6-8?" She had NO idea what I was talking about and knew nothing of it even though she worked there. She called up to the front registers and instead of relaying the question properly she asked curtly "Do you guys know if we are hosting flower pot painting classes in the near future?" I tried telling her again that this was a one time event for Halloween that was scheduled for tonight only....but she waved me off and flatly stated "They don't know" and practically ran off before I could say anything else. Disappointed and feeling terrible for my daughter who had her hopes up high to "Paint with Mommy" tonight I grabbed a Hello Kitty sticker book and headed for the registers upfront. When I mentioned to them as we were paying for our purchase how disappointed I was that I drove all the way for nothing....They just stared at me blankly, no apology and stated that since nobody was there at 6, they went ahead and closed down early. I reminded them that it was Friday, there is traffic and bad weather and what a shame that is for anyone that planned on coming and they couldn't see it fit to fulfill what they had advertised which was two offer it for two measly hours....(Not like the store was packed and they couldn't afford to assign one of their uber friendly associates to manage it). Once again they said nothing. I went home, and called the manager "Stephanie" at the store and voiced my concerns there. She said that the person running the event told them that it was only from 6-7 (their own flyer did NOT state that, it said 6-8) and they went ahead and closed at 7. I also made note that when I mentioned how poorly I felt I was treated by the young girl I had originally asked about the event she said NOTHING and once again NO APOLOGY was offered. She also never even asked who that person was. So I can only assume the surly girl I talked to was actually herself all along, or that she has not a care in the world as acting store manager whether her own staff treats their customers poorly. I have had several instances at this location of shoddy customer service (i.e. When I ask them to fetch something for me off the shelf, etc.) This will be the last time for a LONG time if EVER that I return to this store. I find it odd that they spend quite a bit of money advertising in the Sunday paper every week and have Halloween events for kids to drum up extra business. They CHARGE you for the items they''re allowing you to decorate and yet they can't even follow through with the advertisement to gain that potential revenue. HOBBY LOBBY HERE I COME! read more

It can get a bit overwhelming but the store has plenty of signs to direct you to the section you need. Every time I have gone there seems to be only 1 cashier and a line even though the store isn't that busy. I recommend downloading the Michael's app for the coupons! read more

Always friendly people there. Only bad side is when they get a lot of people in line they don't seem to open up extra registers to make it faster for checkout. I went to Michaels today for it's opening day. I was looking for a certain type of gouache paint and to my surprise, 2 different employees were extremely knowledgeable on the subject and helped me to buy what I needed. A friend told me that Michaels has more fine art supplies than Jo-Ann's and they were absolutely right! If you're a UCF student in need of art supplies beyond what Jo-Ann's has, but you don't have a way of getting all the way down to Art Systems on SR 436, this location should be really convenient for your basic needs! read more
