I recently attended a beginner's weaving class at Fiber Art in Odessa. The store is beautifully…read morelaid out with lots and lots of example work in many different techniques. My class was informative and fun. It began on a Sunday afternoon for three hours, where we learned how to load and work a small table top rigid heddle loom. The greatest part was that I was able to take the loom home until the following Sunday, which gave me the opportunity to practice with it at my convenience. Because of this I had the time to complete three small weaving projects. The following Sunday we had a review of how to load and work the loom and Jane, the teacher of the class and the owner of Fiber Art, helped me with some issues I was having with the edges of my weaving. She answered all our questions (there were three of us in the class). She also offered to have a private consultation with me if I opted to purchase a loom. I did not purchase the loom at that time but I may in the future. Fiber Art's yarn is beautiful and unique - the prices reflect that - it makes you want to go back and touch everything. I'm thinking about taking a knitting class because I never fully grasped the concept of knitting even though I've been crocheting since I was a little girl. Jane is a talented artist and she has her creations displayed all over the store. Talk about inspiration!

Always helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming. Need help? Visit Jane at Fiber Art Gallery.read more

This is such a cool little quilt shop! I'm not really a quilter but I wanted to pop in after an…read moreappointment nearby and see what this store was all about. There were a few ladies working who were all super friendly. The only fabrics (barring I think two bolts of solid cotton knit and some utility type fabrics) are quilting cottons. There are many options, and a great assortment of indie patterns, quilting focused notions, interfacings, thread (mettler, the best brand imo), and an assortment of machines. I asked about service costs for my serger that hasn't been serviced since it was purchased nearly 25 years ago. I was quoted $165 which I think is pretty reasonable. I loved all the little finished projects (especially the cute flamingo bags!) and the nice workspace in the back. The store is super clean and feels new.

I made a major purchase of a Pfaff sewing machine and the staff helped me every step of the way and…read moreassisted with the questions and concerns i had. I do continue to shop and purchase my supplies and fabric from S&S!! I love the variety of fabrics available and of course the friendly staff. I feel like I have stepped into my family home with everyone saying hello and asking about my current life events...it's welcoming like I am visiting all my Aunties and Home. As a Native American, family means everything and I always feel welcomed at Scrap & Sew as soon as I walk in the store. I'll continue to shop and visit the store and I hope you will too.

What a wonderful experience! I was looking for some hand dyed mini skeins of Merino to start…read morecollecting for a crochet blanket quilt project. Amazing selection of yarn in beautiful colors and different fibers to suit your project. I am fairly new to crochet and this was my first time visiting a dedicated yarn store. The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful without hovering. I think four different staff must have assisted me or answered my questions about which fiber textiles worked best for the different projects I had in mind. One even shared a stitch for crochet that I will try: linen stitch. It can be intimidating and overwhelming trying to figure out which yarns work best for different uses and everyone was so helpful. I drove an hour down from Orlando because this store had the most recommendations on reviews and reddit threads and I'm so glad I did. Will be returning for sure and looking forward to catching some of their limited release skeins.

I bought some sale yarn from Four Purls on-line. The price was good and triggered my curiosity…read moreabout the place. The pictures showed a HUGE shop. I was in Florida, visiting a friend, and talked her into making the 2 hour trip to Four Purls. Walking in, I was amazed! The place really is HUGE - the largest yarn shop I'v ever been in. The owners were really nice, explaining how the store in laid out with regard to the yarn weights. I asked about Cashmere yarn; they had it. Yak yarn; they had it. Yarns from countries that I didn't know produced yarns - Japan. They have their own private label yarn as well. This is a destination store if you're anywhere in Florida. If you use yarn in any way, you will love this place. I told my friend I'll be back to visit, if only to go back to Four Purls.
