A DIY lover's dream come true... This is one of the best, if not the best, arts/craft store in the area for DIY types like myself. They offer DIY tutorial classes and have everything imaginable in stock. If you can't locate it, just ask. The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable about all types of crafting. The DIY crowd is who they cater to, which means they know their stuff. Stencils, acrylic and oil paints and paint brushes, Mod Podge, craft papers, dollhouse materials, buttons, fabric, etc. Beyond the DIY stuff, they always have such cute home decor. Picture frames, candles, votives, artwork, vases, charger plates, etc. Their line of Wilton professional baking pans, fluting tubes, icing, cupcake holders, cake stands and more is pretty impressive for both the amateur baker and the semi-pro as well. I like the new Martha Stewart DIY line. It's a little more expensive, but the quality is worth it. Michaels's has terrific assortment of prints and frames in the back. They do custom framing as well, but that is pretty pricey, although they do offer discounts through their printed and online coupon offers on framing, as well as on all regular-priced merchandise. They're always running sales of some kind or another. BOGO sales in the art/photo frame department happen all the time, so it pays to stock up. If you don't have a coupon on you, they just give you one from their ad, so it doesn't even matter if you didn't bring one. Plus, they always ring up the discount off the most expensive item in your cart instead of the least expensive, which I can't stand, though most retailers adhere to the lowest-priced item philosophy. read more

Another hometown review! The day before Christmas is totally nuts no matter where you go. I had a last-minute gift that I'd held off on getting and I was dreading it. I was pleasantly surprised! The store was clean, well-lit and well-stocked. The staff were all helpful and very friendly.. especially Amy, the new manager at the custom framing department. Last Christmas I got a custom mat for framing from their custom framing department. The woman who helped me was absolutely wonderful. I wish I could remember her name, I think it was Michelle. She went out of her way to help me get it in the frame I had already bought and taped it down. When I offered her a tip for her help she refused and said Merry Christmas!! I do love this store, if I need a specific crafting item that I just cannot wait to order online I will go to Michaels and get it with the coupon. They have everything you could ever want! The store can get a little messy at times and I don't think there are quite enough staff on the floor. The last time I was there back by the bathrooms was quite messy, with paper towels all over (this was OUTSIDE the bathrooms) and big trash containers with pizza boxes in them just kind of "out" in the public areas for some reason. There was also a very foul order coming from the bathrooms. Despite liking the store I had to give it only 3 stars for above but mostly because the employees that I dealt with seemed to have ZERO knowledge of general crafting knowledge or products. I wanted to purchase a set of Spellbinder's dies, which are kept in a locked cabinet. I walked all over the store trying to find someone who could unlock the case. Not a soul in sight. I finally had to interrupt the cashier to ask for help. He said okay, then I had to wait another ten minutes or so for an employee to come over. When I told her I wanted a set of Spellbinder's dies that were locked up she looked like she had no idea what I was talking about. I had to explain what dies were! Really??? In a specialty store like this ONLY those with crafting knowledge should be hired. But I don't think this is the case here. I think they just hire whoever. If Michael's fix this issue and hire knowledgeable people it would be perfect! read more
