Quite happy with this place - though not blown away and unclear if I'd make it a point to return…read more Most dishes were solid. I particularly liked the seared scallops appetizer (though wish it came with more than 2 medium sized ones) and the wild halibut main (which was on special that evening). The cured salmon appetizer was ok but I wouldn't reorder. The pheasant main was good - though more if you like sweet with your poultry (due to the boozy prunes). The desert was ok and the sourdough bread was enjoyable. I felt the cocktails, while pretty, were a bit of a disappointment (in terms of taste). Staff were friendly but not particularly attentive or reactive. Overall, I'd classify the service as satisfactory.

Staff seated us inside as I didn't want to dine on the terrace which was very popular. They offer sparking or still water which is a charge so if you want tap, specify with the wait staff. I wasn't that impressed with the items offered on both the regular and specials of the day menus. Hubby liked the sea bass (small piece) over some curry rice? I didn't care for the taste. I got the ox cheeks. The meat was mostly tender but was bland, under seasoned. The sauce with pomegranate seeds was good. It came with fries which were soft, not crispy and I didn't like it at all. I would've sent it back to go thru the fryer again but it was late and I was in no mood to wait. Not on my list to return again.

I've…read morepreviously been to branches of this chain whilst in London, so thought I should give my local branch a try. On arrival, I was a little apprehensive as they had no customers at all. It was around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, however it did fill up quite well before I left. The restaurant itself is very tastefully furnished, it kind of has a feel of being an upmarket Cafe Rouge. I ordered from the Prestige set menu which I considered excellent value for the three courses I had. I ordered duck pâté for my starter, Seabass for main and Apple & Blackberry crumble for dessert. Service was not super-fast, though this did give me the feeling that my food was being cooked fresh. I could not fault any of it, everything was delicious. As far drinks go, they have a bit of an odd selection and no beers on draft. I drank a bottle of Meteor beer, which was very pleasant. Great value for money, delicious food, pleasant surroundings, so why not 5 stars? Just because although the restaurant was fairly quiet, I was served by at least 4 different wait staff- I'm not a fan of this, I prefer the continuity of having the same waiter from start to finish. However, will I go back? Definitely!!

Having had the French onion soup and steak tartare as starters, the pork belly and beef bourguignon as mains and tarte tatin as dessert we went home extremely happy. Worth returning.

My friend and I decided to go to Ilkley one Sunday, as she had just passed her driving test and I…read morewas long overdue a good shop. We had intended to stay for lunch and it was getting to around that time, our tummies were certainly on the rumble, and so we decided to head back to Oakleys since we'd spotted it earlier. I can't tell you how glad I am we made this decision. I mean, there was Betty's but their queue was as long as my childhood, so we'd already decided not to bother there. Oakleys was different. Don't get me wrong, it was really buzzing for a Sunday in the arcade - almost everything else was shut. But, there was only a small queue and most of their patrons were of an elderly age, which meant the place was very civilised and peaceful. The decor was cosy, they had a very rustic vintage feel with some nice plants and cute little round tables. At the tills was a large deli counter, filled with the most delightful looking cakes ever. Had we not been stopping for a proper lunch I would have definitely gone with the lemon cheesecake. Then again I seem to remember coveting all their cakes and discussing that, if we had room, we could get one each and share so as to try two at once! This never happened in the end, but I am certain those cakes would have been to die for. Now for the food. What can I say? YUM! It was nothing too fancy, simplistic, but my it was effective. They had a specials board with the cooked meals, everything else was sandwich based, although we noted that it was more than likely they weren't specials in that each day they were something new - more that they were the hot meals, and that's why they were special. Crikey they were cheap too - nothing on the board was over £6! I had the lasagna and my friend had the salmon. Both of us had a bit of salad and chips to accompany our mains too. The chips were perfection, chunky, not too greasy and totally melty. Salad made me feel less guilty and the lasagna was perfect. Like a home cooked pub lasagna but a nicer price. It was utterly delicious and totally a delightful stop for lunch. Service was great too, friendly and polite. Highly recommend!
