I love shopping at Michaels. I always find what I need when I shop here. Granted I also always find a bunch of stuff I don't need, but that's half the fun, right? Jokes aside, I really do enjoy browsing, seeing what's on sale, and thinking about how I'd use the aisles of materials and items to redecorate and get crafty at home. This store is always clean and well-organized, which definitely contributes to the whole "I love browsing here" thing. It's in a convenient location for me too; and it's doubly nice because I can walk through Michaels and Target during the same errand run. It's definitely worth stopping in seasonally to see what's new, at least to me! I had so much fun shopping here over the summer because of all the outdoorsy/camping-related decor. Now of course the store has been taken over by fall and Halloween items - which means soon I'll be back again to see if I need to add anything to my in-house winter wonderland. In the past I've also shopped here when I've needed items framed and when I needed paint supplies. While I'm not really making much in the way of art at the moment, I definitely know where I'll stop first if I pick that hobby back up. read more

I went to Michaels to get some balloons blown up for my nieces 9th birthday, within a few hours the big 9 balloon lost of a lot of helium it's obvious the lady didn't put enough helium which is very upsetting because that's not what I paid for. This was my first time going here & it will most likely be my last. I don't know if it was a honest mistake or they were just being stingy with the helium. Either way, customers should get what they paid for. However the other three balloons were fine. read more

The selection is low but I've come to expect this from many Michael's stores, but most of the staff is quite rude. Who ever was on the register this morning was rude and dismissive. I asked for help finding yarn and she pointed off into a random direction, when I explained I needed a specific yarn, she scoffed and said she was too busy to help. This is not the first time this staff has blown me off like this, I understand things can get busy but it seems they're just reluctant to help. Other people on the staff have been kind enough to help me when I've been blown off by others (multiple times) but at this point I don't know if I can keep going back if I have to work so hard to purchase something. Lots of the stock is messy and in the wrong spot so I can't imagine i wont have to ask for help every time im there. I can only hope I happen to find a kind member of the staff... read more

Found some great deals over here and had a good experience! They had some clearance on some Christmas items that I'm going to be repurposing. There's always a ton of inspiration down any of the aisles. If only I had the time! A good, reliable visit. read more

Michaels is losing out to the online retailers and they're not helping themselves with lackluster customer service in-store. Notably, store manager Bill was unhelpful at best, downright ignorant at worst, when I needed the simplest of exchanges (same exact item) and made me and the line behind me wait for their excessively long exchange process (2 separate transactions, why??) rather than authorizing a simple exchange without the formality of the 4 minute process, which would have made the experience far more pleasant for at least 2 customers. This apathy is the reason I'm less likely to spend my time and money shopping in person, especially at the Oxford Drive Michaels. read more

this lady from self checkout has me so pressed i downloaded ts and made a whole account to complain... was breathing down my neck at self checkout walking me through the process as if i was a toddler then proceeded to let everyone on this side of the Mississippi know that my card declined WHILE I WAS GETTING MY OTHER ONE OUT OF MY WALLET. also nothing had price tags on it and it was very disturbing. read more

Store was spotless, smelled nice (from the vacuum powder additive), and had a number of sales, among them, art supplies. Big store previously featured a cluttered main aisle, which has been cleared. It felt and looked functional, and spacious. We had a very friendly cashier, which made our trip much nicer. read more

I'm writing this from the parking lot as I've just left the store. I have nothing but great things to say about the lovely lady that checked me out. Last person of the night I was. The girl before me was paying cash or something and the cashier pressed a wrong button of sorts, no big deal. Whomever came over to bring the cash drawer to the cashier (who so kindly apologized to myself and the girl she was ringing out And maybe the manager?) was so completely rude and unprofessional. She had a very snobby and rude tone to the girl, and also didn't apologize to the other customer. I noticed when I was checking out the cahsier was trying to hold back tears. I'm sorry, but whomever that woman was (blondish hair, in a pony tail) does not seem like she knows how to handle mistakes kindly, and how to act when handling an issue in front of customers. I mean come on, it's Michaels. It's not that serious. I wish I would have said something to the girl to give her some confidence. I was really disappointed to witness this behavior. it's extremely distasteful. Perhaps, manager lady was having a bad day or whatever, but no need to take it out on someone else. read more

This store fills its role, I suppose, but it seems as if the other Michael's stores have more merchandise than this one. Then again, I'm a guy. I just want to look at toys and model cars and comic book posters while the lady shops for yarn and glue. read more

Since this is the only craft store around the area (at least that I'm aware of) I feel like a 3 star rating is adequate. They do have a wide selection of items for many hobbies such as baking, scrap booking, painting, jewelry making, framing, etc. It's a decent size store and when I'm in the mood to be creative, I typically make a stop here. I do feel that some items are overpriced and that I could just as easily buy something pre-made from the store. B/c when you add up the cost of supplies and tools - you may be spending more than you would at the store. But there is something to be said about making things yourself and investing your time in a hobby that you enjoy. I do like Pat Catan's in West Mifflin much more as I think their prices are far better than Michael's, but since Michael's is so darn close to me this is usually my go-to craft store. read more

I've got to say that Hobby Lobby has more variety and in-stock items. I went yesterday looking for items to make a post-Christmas wreath and they had virtually nothing! Nothing winter themed for a wreath like mittens or snowmen. Jewelry making items they have, but wreath making- not so much. read more

I've been to this Michael's so many times but I've learned not to ask employees if they have something. Just for the record they do indeed sell macrame cord. I found it myself. I wish I had another craft store closer. At least they have great coupons. read more

I don't usually give places such a low number of stars. But that was not a great experience. They had a good number of the things I was looking for but I went specifically for paint pens and they were empty and there was no one to ask if there was any in the back.i planned on asking at the register but the line was very long and only one poor lady was cashing people out. She kept calling for more people to come to the register and it took about 10 minutes for someone else to come up. I was next in line so he pulled me over but did not say a word to me the entire transaction, he didn't even tell me my total. It was really a disappointing experience in the customer service world..and I work in the customer service world. I will probably avoid this location from now on. read more

It disappoints me to rate Michael's with two stars because I truly wish I could give them more but they don't deserve it. This store is constantly out of stock in almost everything I ever go to shop for. The staff is friendly, however, isn't informed on orders, shipments or even when things may be due back in. Beyond that, they apparently won't order things for you if they're out of stock, honor rain checks on sale items, etc. yet, their competitors, Hobby Lobby do all of the above. I've made the adjustment of going to other craft stores after leaving empty handed on more than a half a dozen trips. read more
