He must have missed the part that you need to use lip and mouth guards, bite block, and specialized protective glasses to protect the patient; we received multiple severe burns in our mouths. The very next day and many days after I requested multiple times to speak to the DR. about what he recommends we need to be doing instead I got to deal with the gatekeeper Sophia, the mother of Dimitri, who has no medical background, nor should she ever administer any medication 800mg ibuprofens is prescribed medication via a pharmacy or a doctor, not an office manager, as she did to both myself and my son the day of the treatment. My son's lasted a week, and a half and mine went on for three and a half weeks. I had put a deposit down for future services now they are trying to claim even though I have never received a bill from them for services what this and that cost. I hope it is worth it for them. I am continuing my complaint to the Department of Consumer Affairs and the American Dental Board for the services we received and the lack of care or concern. No one should ever have to go through this type of treatment or aftercare!

They told me the accepted my insurance (they do not). They had me sign a document that my filling would cost 200 out of pocket. I was fine spending that since everyone was so nice and I truly trusted his team. Well this 200 dollar filling ended costing 1,200! Yes, 1,200! That is insane! 5 years later the filling cracked and my new dentist stated he uses cheap material so you would have to get the replaced. He's super nice but definitely keeps money the priority. Super disappointing and don't be fooled unless you have deep pockets.

First off, let me say that two dentists have tried to numb my mouth. When the numbness would wear…read moreoff SECONDS after the shot, one dentist gave me shots all over my mouth, including the roof of my mouth and my tongue. Nothing worked. We even tried the next day with clear instructions not to drink coffee or tea. Still, nothing worked. I was told that the last time that happened, the patient had been a drug addict. Suffice to say, I don't do drugs, except for Ventolin and Symbicort for my asthma, and I'll drink wine at the most just a handful of times a year (pre-Covid). The second dentist, who was a tiny Asian woman and who has since passed away, actually used the armrest to add more pressure to get the needle in deep. I felt my nerve (wriggle). Not surprisingly, It took me three years to see my dentist again after those experiences. Not too long ago, I was told my my dentist that I needed work done on two teeth that was treated about three years ago. The onlay on my #18 had come off and there was now a slight crack in the tooth. My number #9 tooth had a secondary cavity. What?! It cost me close to $2000 out of pocket for the treatment and an anesthesiologist. My dentist, knowing how difficult it is for me to get numbed, recommended Dr. Mokbel. When Dr. Mokbel and Danielle tried to reassure me that I would get numbed, I was quite skeptical. I just wanted to pay the extra cost for an anesthesiologist. Let me sleep and wake up with everything done. But okay, why not give it a try. I mean the guy teaches classes at USC and have taken students to poor countries to help the less fortunate. Danielle had it okayed to prescribe Xanax, which I took before arriving to the office. One pill didn't work, so I took another one. She also suggested playing music, which I did. My first visit to fix my #9 went great. I was told I snored a couple of times (I usually snore when getting a massage) and my tooth looks so much better. I can now smile in the morning without getting grossed out at my reflection. I just left the office. This was my second visit for my #18. It was harder to numb me this time. But Dr. Mokbel kept at it. I had complete faith in him and had hoped he wouldn't give up. Man, I was telling my mind to just relax, but something in me resists the idea of being poked and prodded and I hate the idea of of being medicated. After what felt like 45 minutes, I was told that I was done. What?! The procedure was much quicker than my first visit. You can't believe how stressed I've been. I'm not a pansy. I've been punched in my face and kicked in my stomach numerous times by my ex, so the dentist shouldn't be nothing, but it is to me. Dentists and doctors are scary people who invade very private places. Like I said, I absolutely HATE going to the dentist and doctor. But if I ever had to do something like this again, and I hope I die before I do, Dr. Mokbel and his amazing staff would be my first choice.

I could hear him in the next room chit chatting. When he finally saw me he said I needed a CT scan to determine how close the nerves were to my lower wisdom teeth. He kept saying I waited too long to get my teeth pulled (I have serious surgery anxiety) and I don't have a time machine to go back in time to get my teeth pulled. In any case, I had time to take the additional scans but I wouldn't have time to wait for him to make his rounds again. He said he would review the scans to determine the risk level, make a recommendation and give me a call. I didn't have to schedule the surgery date as the front office had already scheduled my surgery appt when I scheduled the consultation. Fast forward about 4 days and it's the day of the surgery. There was a mix up with the anti anxiety medication that was prescribed caused by the office / CVS and after multiple phone calls, I had to forego the prescription and head to the office for surgery. When I checked in, I stated he never called me about whether I would be getting 2 or 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled. They assured me that he would discuss it with me. They take me back to the room and the dental assistant does her best to calm my nerves. She was really sweet. After 20+ min, the oral surgeon enters the room and I ask whether he made a decision as to whether it was too risky, he stated again that was why I shouldn't have waited so many years to get my teeth pulled. Then he said I made the appt to get all 4 teeth pulled. I panicked. I let him know my surgery was scheduled before I even had my consultation. I asked him for his recommendation. He said there was risk either way. Under extreme anxiety and no time to think it out, I made the decision to go with all 4. I knew I'd never have the nerve to go through this again. He administered the anesthesia himself and I was knocked out. Why did I have to pay additional $$ to get CT scans that weren't even used? The surgery went seemingly okay. I was sent home with multiple pages of instructions (that happened to contradict each other) but was able to call the office for follow up questions. After the shots wore off, I had no feeling in my lower gums, lower lip and chin. My first follow up visit was pretty pointless as the oral surgeon wasn't even there. I went back another week later for a second follow up, and spoke to the oral surgeon. He stated he never saw the nerves during surgery so it was odd that I was so numb. He also let me know that whatever feeling hadn't returned in 4 months, wouldn't likely return. It's been 4 months, full feeling has not returned yet. I guess I just have to live this way. Overall, I couldn't recommend this surgeon. I know it could have been worse but it could have gone a lot better. There was too much confusion, not enough follow through and the outcome was less than desirable.
