We mentioned that we had some landscaping work we wanted to do and they went out of their way to be accomodating and helpful. Everyone from the top to the bottom was extremely friendly, capable and neat. The work was done on time and by their expressed schedule. The level of creativity and responsibility for our property was amazing. They went over and above what was in their contract, we are extremely pleased and would recommend them to everyone. We have dealt with many contractors and find Cal and Shan's the top of the list! Their philosophy is that they will treat your property as if it was their own, and they follow it meticulously. Their workmanship was phenomenal.

We had Cal and Shan's replace our back concrete steps and pour a concrete patio in 2021. Mostly…read moregood, except... the landing between the steps and the patio was poured incorrectly, sloping toward the house and causing rainwater to leak under the wall into the enclosed sunroom. Todd resisted replacing the landing, suggesting instead making a drainage groove in the landing and installing flashing with sealant along the bottom of the wall. Against our better judgment, we went with his approach. It worked for a while, sort of, but water would still leak in with heavy rain and the problem got worse with time. I called again this year and talked to Ross, asking how they would recommend resolving the issue; he said they would contact us to schedule a time for Todd to come take a look, but I never heard back. Thus, we hired someone else to fix their mistake. It was an expensive project, was done incorrectly, and their followup/response was poor. I see lots of positive reviews online for them, but our experience is that if there is an issue with their work, they aren't likely to do much to make it right.

During the initial site visit, Russel identified the drainage and pitch issues of the existing patio, and I had a quote for the job before he left the site. During the patio removal and paver installation, his crew was just as great. There was some existing damage to part of my foundation that was accessible once the old patio was removed, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the crew had patched it. This attention to detail continued until the completion of the project, and I'm thrilled with the end result.

The design he came up with addressed all of our erosion concerns and netted us a fantastic two level patio set up that gave us plenty of space to cook, eat and relax. The plantings are healthy, plentiful and addressed all of my requests on color, style, etc. Andrew was a breeze to work with from a design standpoint and John and his crew were consummate professions with the install. They started on time, kept us apprised of any issues (of which there were almost none) and were quick to address any questions or concerns I came up with. We bid this project out to multiple vendors. Poul's was not the least expensive (nor the absolute most expensive), but they were the highest quality and best design. I feel the value for what we paid was more than fair and will use them again for future projects. Highly recommend.

This company did work on our yard through Randy Bass from Wonder Lake. We hired Randy's company for…read morethe project and he did the grading of our yard and he used these guys (I didn't even know that they were separate until last night) to supposedly spread new top soil base and seed our lawn. Well half of our yard did not grow any grass at all!!! We contacted Randy in late summer and sent him pictures of our yard. He said himself that it looked like crap and that they would be back to fix our yard. We heard nothing from either one of these companies the rest of last year. So, we contacted Randy in March to make sure we would get on the schedule early. Randy assured us that he'd get his landscaper (Don's "Quality" Landscaping) out to our house and get our yard fixed. Since April, week after week we were told by Randy that these guys would be out to fix the yard and week after week no one shows and no one calls. Last night Randy claims that Don's stopped out at our house when we were gone and said that our yard was fine and just needed to be fertilized and some seed added. Then he proceeded to tell me that they are not responsible for any of it!! I was also told that I should have watered my yard better last year!!! Unbelievable!!! I received estimates from 3 separate landscaping companies to fix this mess because neither of these guys were showing up. All three companies said that the original top soil base that these guys did wasn't thick enough to get good enough seed growth and more top soil needs to be brought in and yard needs to be reseeded. All of the estimates we received were over $2500 to fix this crap job!! Stay away from both Randy Bass excavating company and Don's "Quality" Landscaping!!! This is the most unprofessional and disrespectful experience we have ever had to deal with a company.
