If you are looking for an Enterprise that at least seems to care about your situation, DO NOT go to…read moreDr. Ryan. Especially if you are not insured. I needed a new Dr. in the area and saw him advertising on billboards in town (I should have recognized the signs from that alone). I booked a visit and went in to see him. I told him I was private pay and uninsured. My first visit he was very quick and send to be reading a questionnaire from webmd and was firing of questions at me. Be briefly asked me about my blood glucose numbers, asked if I could afford his special blood work pricing and ordered me up some glucose and cholesterol. He upped my metformin and lisinopril dosages and left the room with out even addressing my shoulder problem. This was June 24th 2012. The visit and blood work cost me $210 out of pocket. I had a follow up visit a month later in July. I had lost 9 lbs and made significant progress on my blood glucose. When the dr came in, he asked my about my numbers, I handed him my iPhone log and he scrolled though them. I tried to explain that the "out of Bed" entries were the fasting. He said it is not where he likes it and would like to put me on lantis (insulin). I reminded him I was private pay. He said it wasn't that expensive, and the cheaper medicine would require too much monitoring for me. I also asked him to adress my shoulder and he grabbed it, pushed it behind my head and asked if it hurt. The grimace on my face wasn't enough I guess. He said he would have to refer me and I would need an MRI were $500+ and told me I probably couldn't afford it. In this visit he also prescribed me Prozac for my mood/anxiety. The "not too expensive" lantis was $150 a month, so I did not have it filled. I picked up the pace on my diet and exercise routine and was able to get my fasting glucose numbers down to normal range with the metformin, diet and exercise. A few days before my 3rd monthly visit, I called to reschedule my appointment because I literally did not have the money due to having to buy back to school supplies for my kids. I figured that he would understand the situation and have no problem prescribing me my 3 NON-NARCOTIC medications and see me next month for a follow up. I was wrong. Not only was the lady in the office rude to me when I called she said he wouldn't do it with out asking him. After a little coaxing she said she would talk to him and call me back. I gave her my normal glucose and blood pressure numbers so she could tell him. I never got a call back. I called back the following day and was passed around to 3 different people before being told he WOULD not refill my prescriptions without a visit. I re-explained that I LITERALLY could not pay for the visit and asked pleadingly if he could do it for this month and she flat out said no. She was being very rude and was trying to get of the phone with me. I again said please and also reminded her that it would be extremely unsafe for me to stop all of these med abruptly. She just replied YOU NEED A VISIT. I had a weird feeling about this guy on the first visit. I should have followed my gut. I apologize for such a long review. I am now attempting to ween my self off of 3 medications with the few I have remaining. If you are looking for an Enterprise Dr., please take head to my story.

Once in a room the process was rather quick, vital signs, history, treatment plan, procedure, patient education and discharge. The staff's character and personality is where they excelled. The staff recognized that there was pain and anxiety and was able to deal with that while making the patient feel comfortable. I have never been to a clinic and seen that kind of great service. They also have reasonable cash prices as well.

As a result, I contacted the Veterans Administration Community Care line for prior authorization and was provided a referral number (which covered 100% of my visit) for a VA " In -Network" service provider ( American Family Care, Enterprise , AL. ) under the Veterans Administration Missions Act of 2018. After arriving and completing the required documents, I provided the receptionist a copy of my VA identification card and referral number as provided by VA. Approximately Ten (10) minutes later,. the receptionist called me up and requested a debit or credit number to be placed on file for my respective visit. I informed the receptionist that my visit was fully coveted by the VA, and that I only had in my possession my VA ID Card and the referral number from Community Care that guaranteed full coverage for my visit. As instructed by Community Care, I also informed the receptionist that I was seeking care under the Missions Care Act of 2018. The receptionist then stated, " Without a debit or credit card being placed on file, you cannot been seen." I immediately called Community Care regarding this issue, and was again instructed to tell the receptionist my visit was covered at 100%, and was instructed to give her their number (877-881-7618) for verification purposes. After being denied a second time, I requested to speak with a supervisor regarding the issue, and provided her with the same information as received by from Community Care. The supervisor stated the same, informing me ,"It is AFC's policy to deny patient care if the patient does not provide a debit or credit card to be placed on file." It was at this point, I left the establishment and called Community Care for an alternate In- Network service provider. I later received a new referral number for Ivy Creek of Enterprise, AL. I provided the receptionist at Ivy Creek my VA ID card and referral number(which she verified by calling the aforementioned phone number), and I was processed, treated, and released within Thirty (30) minutes after my arrival time. It is my opinion, that American Family Care fail to fulfill their service agreement as an In -Network Service Provider for the VA. Due to the fact that AFC's local policies conflict with how outside care is obtained under the VA Missions Act of 2018, and feel they should removed for the Veterans Administration list of In -Network providers. As a Veteran who has faithfully served this country for over Two Decades (Four Campaign Stars), I was denied care when I needed it the most. The allergic reaction I was experiencing could have easily turned deadly, but in lieu of being treated, I was repeatedly denied care (due to local policy) after completing the steps required by VA Community Care to be seen by an In Network provider. It was apparent that life, limb, or eyesight doesn't matter to this facility. As a result, I feel AFC should be removed from the VA''s Community Care list of In-Network providers and recommend that if you are a Veteran interested in being seen under the Missions Act of 2018, that you DO NOT USE this VA In-Network facility.
