He asked me about it, and asked me to send him a couple pictures to clarify since I didn't know the right terminology to use to explain my issue. He called me right back and explained that he's more of a total renovation guy, rather than a handyman, and that I didn't need a renovation guy. Then he talked with me about what I could do to fix the problem myself. On his dime. Patiently. Thoroughly. I'm definitely on a budget and have multiple projects that need doing and with little money, I have to prioritize. A dishonest person could have come out and charged me a thousand dollars and I'd have no way to know I was being ripped off. Now I know how to fix this myself, and I have money for another project (also not in his primary focus, or believe me, I would have hired him). Honest contractors exist. This is that guy.
