I've been seeing Michael on a regular basis for about seven years and I have come to deeply value his remarkable combination of a depth and breadth of holistic medical knowledge, sharply accurate intuition, and soulful warmth, compassion, and caring for his patients. I also deeply value and appreciate the depth of his commitment to endlessly developing his craft as a healer. In addition, he is one of those rare healers who freely shares his own health issues and struggles rather than simply preaching to his clients from some impersonal, clinical perspective. read more

I have been to Michael Shpak for two visits now and am blown away by this man. He has an incredibly refined and accurate intuition. He read me like a book. Today, when he dropped a line about how my mind operates like a rabbit hole, a deep laugh roared out of me, because he hit the nail so perfectly on the head. He understands the Human body, mind, and spirit as an entire system and cares about helping it function properly. He is deeply spiritual and you can tell just in the first visit that he has vast experience in biology, psychology, holistic healing practices, functional medicine, Chinese herbs, acupuncture, vitamins. He spends time with you, and works to get your body functioning properly and way better. A highly intelligent creature. I cannot recommend this doctor enough. He is by far the best doctor I have ever been to. Period. Actually maybe the only truly great doctor I've ever seen. A true healer. EVERYONE should see this guy. If you are a Human Being, go see Michael Shpak. read more

Words cannot express the Love and respect I have for this man. Michael Shpak is a magical healer, in tune with each individual, present with their needs, concerns, fears, hopes and dreams. He is committed to his craft beyond anyone I've ever known, read or experienced. Most importantly he walks the walk, does the work on himself for himself so that he can be present with his family, clients & friends. So many, if not most practitioners preach to the client what they aren't doing for themselves, therein lies the transparent hypocrisy that distorts their intention. If you want the information that only your body can provide, contact Michael today! read more

Michael Shpak, LAc - Acupuncture Near Me - Walnut Creek, California

A miracle worker. Michael has healed two of my family members from devastating illness. He truly cares about the person as whole and implements thoughtful and effective treatment. read more

I went to see Michael Shpak based on all the great reviews written on here. I will have to disagree with everyone on here because my experience was way less than that of a "miracle healer" and I did go to him for about 4 months, so I gave him a fair chance to work his "magic" on me. The first thing I noticed is that his prices are way higher than standard prices of other acupuncturists. I decided to try him out nonetheless because I was suffering from serious health issues and thought that if he could help me, it'd be worth it. At first he seems like a very caring and compassionate man, willing to do anything to help. That "anything" also involves selling very pricey supplements that I have tried for months and ultimately did nothing for me. I remember walking out of my first appointment and paying $450! If they worked, I would have no problem with it, but none of them made a difference. I kept going back, trying different supplements, wanting to believe that he could truly help me. He ultimately didn't. Another weird thing was that he always placed the 4-6 needles on the exact same places on my arms and legs. Never once did he attempt to try anything different on me. At the time I thought it was normal, but since him I have seen other acupuncturists and now know that they alternate needles and use way more than the few he used. My main issues had to do with stomach and digestion and yet never once did he place a single needle remotely near there. On my first visit I had a body composition test which was included in the visit, so I assumed that it'd be included in the future again when I requested it. Well, when I requested it 3 months or so later, to compare the two, I was surprised that upon checking out of the office I was being charged for this test. He didn't mention anything about charging me for the test - if he did, I would have rather not had it! The only thing I liked about his office was the front receptonist gal and the lady who would come every 2 weeks or so and work on the energy points of the body. After Shpak, I started seeing another acupuncturist and saw results after only two visits. And, unlike his supplements, which cost on average of $50, I used a chinese liquid supplement that cost only $16 and actually worked! read more

I have been going to see Dr. Shpak for a few months now and I am seeing tremendously positive changes in my health. I began seeing him due to chronic fatigue, anxiety and just overall not feeling physically well. To begin, he is highly intuitive and just knows exactly what to say and do in every visit. It amazes me how accurately he hits the mark with what changes I can make to improve my life. He works with me on a physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual level, which you really can't expect in any other practitioner. I have gone to multiple medical doctors and they just want to push medications or they say there's nothing I can do to get better. Well, bull****! In a few months, thanks to Dr. Shpak, my anxiety has significantly reduced and I finally feel I am more able to be present, calm and at ease. My fatigue has also decreased and better yet, I know what has been causing it. Currently, he has been helping me address a back pain issue and he found the cause which not even my chiropractor or physical therapist thought of! His treatments are simple and cost effective. (He didn't just pass me a bag of supplements, asking me to pay $2,000 which was what one naturopathic doctor once did). I always leave his office feeling more calm, relaxed, hopeful and cared for. I highly recommend Dr. Shpak to all of my friends and if you are in need of deeper healing and haven't had much luck, please give him a try. He is truly a gifted healer. Also, all of the office staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Thank you Michael for all you have done to help me. read more

Naturopathy has changed the quality of my life in ways that cannot be expressed. From cancer or disease to injury, Dr. Shpak is present and intuitive as a healer, often pinpointing what all other docs fail to notice. My children love him too because he knows how to offer them more balanced health options without rushing their appointments. He works outside the box, so don't expect a corporate vibe. This may be shocking, but Michael Shpak actually listens and invests in your health. Also, every member of his staff are thoughtful about the process and never treat you like a number. There is a way in which Michael Shpak exhibits more humanity than other practitioners with his unique brand of awareness. Clearly this is a person who has done the challenging work of expanding compassion and learning through experience. I would call his work evolved and highly recommend him for anyone struggling with a chronic health issue. read more

As an independent professional in the field of personal health care, it is an honor to know that there are men as dedicated as Michael Shpak. His integrity to his profession is inspiring. He has an ability to 'personalize' your time spent in his office making you feel almost a 'family member', and yet he takes every opportunity to read, study and maintain advanced knowledge in his field. His clientele are many times very ill people...and they often mentally and physically are depressed and sometimes psychologically unhealthy and yet he is able to create an atmosphere of kindness, love and respect for them as they find their way towards healing. I read the post that Alma wrote and it saddens me. It also makes me wonder how much of the 4 months of works with Michael was the preliminary work that was needed to create a base that allowed the new therapist's success when they saw her. The body's energy and natural rhythmic flow varies with each person and therefore, the progression of therapy is different for each person as well. I have found Michael, intuitively understands this flow and is extremely sensitive to how much to push, nudge or respond to the individual in the moment. I also know from a professional standpoint when we work with people that do not feel healthy their perceptions are skewed. As I know Michael's work, his clients and the outcome of success he has with individuals I must say he is thoughtful, knowledgeable and very professional. I personally see him, refer to him and allow him to work with my most precious gifts in life; my family and friends. Lise' DeLong, Ph. D, CPCRT, CCCM read more

When I take the time to see an acupuncturist, I want to have a complete deal. I want to come to a relaxing environment, experience the care and friendliness of the staff and feel like I can surrender and allow myself to be healed. Experience that I had at Michael Shpak's office EXCEEDED my expectations. With Dr. Shpak, I witnessed how he used a variety of healing techniques and approaches to diagnose and clarify my health challenges. But what really set him apart from other practitioners, was his tenderness and intuition. Dr. Shpak created a very safe environment to allow me to let my guard down and explore the core of my health issues. It was very empowering to come to a clarity regarding where I was at the moment and what needed to change both on the inner and outer levels to faciliate a complete healing. I recommend Dr. Shpak to anyone who is searching for deeper answers to their health issues and who wants to have an experience of a relief on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. read more

About seven years ago I had debilitating sciatica. It severely affected my daily life and I was walking with a serious limp. My active lifestyle that I enjoy came to a screeching halt so I immediately sought out an MD. Two MDs did nothing for me, so I tried a chiropractor. He did nothing so I found another one - who also did nothing. Then I tried the "holistic" approach and went to a very expensive (and useless) place in Lafayette; but that's a different review... desperate for relief and my life back, someone referred me to Michael Shpak, and it's some of the best advice I've ever listened to. Michael had my sciatica cured in a little over one month - just a handful of visits. I was living with horrendous sciatic pain for over a year, and he brought almost instantaneous relief. Needless to say, I continued to see him for general health and "maintenance," not to mention for the horrifically toxic marriage I was stuck in (again, that's another review, but I don't think she has a Yelp page). Michael and his friendly, attentive staff kept me healthy and grounded and I continued to go regularly until I moved out of town. Fast forward almost seven years, and I have moved back to the area - this time showing deep emotional, mental, and spiritual scars from years of relational mistreatment. After just one visit, Michael Shpak had me feeling so much healthier and stronger on all fronts. He is truly a sight for sore eyes. Michael Shpak isn't simply an "acupuncturist;" he is a "healer" in every sense of the word. Without a doubt he is the most skilled health practitioner I have ever encountered in my 40 years. He is kind, compassionate, attentive, intellectual, funny, knowledgable, and I could go on and on. Through his expert knowledge and use of acupuncture, chiropractic medicine, Eastern/Western medicine, psychology, and just being a great human, Michael relates to all of his patients and heals them through his extensive modalities. If you are considering Michael Shpak as your healer - run, don't walk, to his office. I guarantee you will be blown away. I honestly cannot give enough high praise as it simply wouldn't do justice; you need to see for yourself. And you will not be disappointed. I will be relocating again shortly, however I plan on visiting his office for an appointment whenever I'm in town. Thanks, Michael! read more

Dr. Shpak is amazing. I've worked with many practitioners throughout the years, and Michael is one of the very best. Within the first 20 minutes of our appointment, he was able to discern the imbalances present in my body. Blood work later confirmed his initial diagnoses. He tutored me about my condition and coached me in approaching my western physician for additional help. Now I'm on a regiment that consists of the best of western medicine, Chinese medicine, holistic supplements and nutritional eating. And finally, I am beginning to feel better. His office has a beautiful energy and Kaylee, his assistant is warm and very helpful. I've been recommending him to all my friends and I'm happy to do the same here! read more

Started going to see him after many recommendations from friends when I had some scary things happening in the nerves on one side of my face and terrible ear pain. Other Doctors couldn't quite tell me what was happening. Not only do I feel better after going to Shpak, I feel better than I have in years. I can't thank him enough. Also, going here is so much more than acupuncture. He will really see you and hear you and use different modalities to heal. read more

My husband and I have been seeing Michael for years for different issues. I never wrote a review because he is such an extra ordinary human being that words can describe him. Well I changed my mind after I read the poor review on him. I find this post slanderous. It is false and unkind. Michael not only has always figured out our ailment faster than anybody else but also he always has done his best to elevate the suffering as fast as possible and quickly. And that is just the physical health part of his work. He has a very strong intuition. He has become a confidant and a therapist. I live in San Jose but I don't care about the drive to see him, it is worth it. Michael is an honest and very respectful man. He makes my husband and I feel at home. I find it presumptuous to say that he is inappropriate towards a woman. He would never treat anyone without respect. read more

We took our now 14-month-old son to Dr. Shpak to treat his eczema, and after a few months of treatment his skin condition is so much better! What I found particularly valuable is that his treatment addressed the underlying causes of my son's eczema, which included making dietary changes for both of us (since I'm still breastfeeding). My husband and I are grateful that he was able to help heal our son's itchy, red (and sometimes bleeding) skin. We found Dr Shpak to be extremely knowledgeable, wise, very caring & warm with a great sense of humor. He also treated me -- helping me balance my energy levels, sleep better at night as well as better manage the emotional adjustment that often comes with being a new mom. I highly recommend Dr. Shpak! He's a fantastic acupuncturist and gifted healer. read more

I had been suffering from dizziness for years before I went to see Michael. I cant even tell you how many different practitioners, alternative and conventional, I saw to try to figure out what was going on, at least 8. No one gave me a correct diagnosis. Michael figured it out within the first half hour of me being there. He also said, even before I said anything about me being tired all the time, that I had zero vitality in my cells and my adrenals needed 're-booting'. I have full faith in him ever since, my dizziness never came back, and I go see him any time I am in distress about anything body related. He is a truly gifted healer and very sweet man. read more

I have been going to Dr Shpak for over six months and I am really happy with the results. I went to him highly recommended as I was seeking a doctor who was capable of addressing my health concerns that western medicine failed to do. He is very friendly and knowledgeable as well as his staff. The office is very clean and welcoming. read more

Michael is an incredibly gifted acupuncturist. He is a wonderful, kind, caring and compassionate man who is a healer in the true sense of the word. Being at his office is a calming and soothing experience for mind, body and spirit. He uses different modalities and always explains them thoroughly to me, and the is very patient. He knows a lot about both Eastern and Western medicine, and treats all patients (from newborns to seniors) with dignity and respect. He has helped me overcome so many health issues, and I highly recommend him to others! He has also treated my cousin and my mother and done wonders for them. He is an integral part of my health plan! read more

Michael is a true healer. I started taking my four-year old son to him after being diagnosed with stomach ulcers caused by severe allergies and being told he would most likely require an elemental diet and feeding tube, along with daily doses of prednisone and that the development of an autoimmune disease was eminent. After seeing Michael for two months and making the necessary modifications to our diet, a second endoscopy revealed the ulcers were gone. My son can now enjoy many foods he was once allergic to, as Michael has cleared those allergies. I truly credit him with saving our lives! read more

Michael Shpak is nothing short of amazing! He is a master in Chinese medicine, yet is able to appreciate the need for some individuals to integrate Western and Chinese medicines. I have been seeing Michael for a spine injury and chronic pain. He uses his knowledge and acupuncture techniques to reduce pain and increase my energy levels. He is highly skilled regarding nutritional needs and can help identify underlying problems. He is the whole package a patient would want as he also listens, is compassionate, funny and genuinely shows concern and interest in every patient. I am happy to write a great review for someone who is so deserving, it's a small way I can give something back for my gratitude. read more

I went to Dr. Shpac for help with my energy level, and eatting and weight, problems. I also swore I'd never go to another acupuncturist after a bad experience. This was a totally different experience. I had the opportunity to give Dr Shpac my whole medical history which made a difference on how he worked with me. Besides getting my energy level up and curbing my eatting plus starting weight-loss in a healthy way, I've seen changes that I wasn't expecting. I had been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and recently was able to lower doses of meds and get off one with Dr Shpak's help. I haven't dropped my doctor but the combination of the two has helped tremendously. Besides all that I'm seeing changes for the good in other areas of my life. It's worth going to see him he's compassionate and gives you all the time you need. read more

Michael Shpak IS a miracle healer! Michael, is extremely educated and continues to educate himself, in all areas for the complete, well rounded practitioner, he continues to be. Michael first and foremost is KIND, VERY INTUITIVE, and LISTENS. I have had health problems for years, been to many various doctors, had many many different procedures to diagnose, and still very sick. I decided to try something different...my desperation for relief...I found Michael. My first visit he reviewed my complete patient history he has all of his patients fill out. Michael talked with me at great length and he ASKED me questions to accumulate a vast knowledge of all my expressed symptoms. Michael reviewed everything I shared with him, and was able to tell me exactly what my main issue was more than likely going to be, a major food allergy and after further testing...HE WAS RIGHT. Michael was able to achieve in one visit after having a lengthy consultation with me, getting to know me, and examine me, what many of my issues are... WOW! Michael was able to accomplish in one visit, what I have tried through years of western medicine, all the pharmaceuticals prescribed, all the medical procedures over many years, and I have never, until Michael, been properly diagnosed. Michael has created a relaxing, safe, and soothing environment for his patients. He runs a first class practice and has high expectations of those who are part of his staff. His staff is ALWAYS AWESOME! They are KIND, COMPASSIONATE, AND POLITE...so different than most doctor office staff...amazing. Michael uses various techniques...not just needles to to treat you. Michael reevaluates you each and every visit to ask what have you been feeling all week, what is personally happening that might be contributing to your issues, and any new symptoms. He records all information you give him each and every visit by hand. ( no dictation, as I observed many doctors in my presence doing, and actually stating things they HAD NEVER DONE TO ME! ( I am in medical field, so many didn't know I was understanding what they were saying). All I can say is THANK YOU , THANK YOU, THANK YOU MICHAEL! I am so sad that I have moved across the country! I am scared to not be able to find relief, and there will never be another "you". People in your geographical area have no idea how blessed they are to have access to you and your practice. You are a one and only diamond in the vast sea of people in California. For any of you who are skeptical, give yourself a a gift... Michael, and FEEL the difference. What he has been able to do for me is priceless and since I haven't been there for two months I can really tell the physical difference. I am looking in my new area, but again, he could never be replaced. Again thank you Michael and staff for being so kind and genuinely caring to me. read more

After changing physicians several times within my medical group, I reached out to my community, and begged anyone who knew of someone that could help me and my son. I was expecting my second child and was very ill. My son was experiencing exhausting behavioral and sleep issues. An acquaintance came to my rescue, and I was then referred to Dr. Shpak. I cannot even begin to tell you how he saved me and my son's lives. After years of battling with our medical group physicians, and never getting assistance, Dr. Shpak diagnosed my son and I within two weeks. Within another two weeks, I could physically see and feel the difference, and my son's behavior and sleep issues resolved. For once, my son and I felt "normal". Dr. Shpak is not only incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to feed you information to help you keep your health going strong, but his empathetic demeanor that him and his staff possess is what sets Natural Medicine Center apart from anyone else. Thank you Dr. Shpak and your staff!! read more

I agree with the previous review. I've worked with Michael for over 15 years, and he always amazes me. Has helped me with a number of issues, from the physical to the emotional. And he does far more than acupuncture and herbs - he's always informed of the latest and best natural treatments for a number of conditions. I highly recommend him (I no longer live in his area, but still drive an hour to see him when needed - it's well worth it). read more

I have worked with Michael for nearly 10 years, with amazing results - physically, emotionally, and spiritually . He is not your typical acupuncturist. If you are looking for an in-and-out, pulse-taking, tongue-and-pallor- viewing, needle-giving and you're on your way kind of treatment, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for someone who takes the time to get to know you and creates an environment and establishes a rapport for complete healing, this is the healer for you. He can help you regardless of your level of personal attachment and involvement in your healing process, but to really get the full value of what Michael has to offer, be open-minded and realize that healing is not a one-way street. The more you help heal yourself and bring an open mind and self-love to the process, the more you will benefit. I have learned and grown so much over the past ten years, and I owe much of it to Michael. My particular experience with Michael (in case you want to hear more) is as follows. He has helped me find things the my HMO has never found. In my case, a wheat sensitivity was the basis of many of my physical and emotional issues, but because my thyroid was never tested nor brought up from any of my routine phyiscals or any other medical procedues, it was never looked at. Michael was very patient and careful with me as I was suspicious of his diagnosis, but when he convinced me to cut out wheat as a trial and see what happened, I was convinced. He was very helpful in dietary suggestions, and held my hand until I was able to be confident on my own. From there, we have explored many other areas and techniques. Whatever your issues are, I am sure that if you are willing to spend teh time to open up to him and yourself and truly work the process, great things can happen. They did for me, and my husband too! read more
