For a while I loved this dentist and the staff. I am currently pregnant and have only been scheduling cleanings. I had an apt. today at 3pm. I'm sure of this because I received 2 reminder texts. When I showed up for my cleaning the receptionist said they did NOT have me in their system. I showed them the reminder text I got, 2x. I was told "Sorry we don't have room for you today, we can schedule you for next tuesday". They were not even apologetic or accommodating. The service used to be amazing and this was a straight insult after being a client for 3 years. So happy I'm not the client that traveled miles or took time off for this appointment. Fraudulent and dishonest practice. Hygienist tries to convince you to get "treatments" which are not needed or covered by insurance. Even submits claims for fraudulent treatments. For instance, sprayed gums under bridge with an antiseptic (not injected into gums) claiming you have an abscess and then charges $75. Could have done the same thing rinsing mouth or even more effectively putting antiseptic in my water pic. Then the practice claims you had periodontic treatment and insists you are getting deep cleanings ongoing afterwards which are not covered. The cleaning is exactly the same as it was previously. Dr Rothstein and office staff unwilling to resolve because they know it is fraud. They all did me a favor being so blatantly dishonest because it prompted me and my family to move on to an excellent, compassionate and honest dental practice. If you get the feeling something is wrong, move on, there are so many dental practices to consider. read more

I have been a patient at The Smilist in New City for many years, along with my husband and son. Over the past year we discovered a consistent pattern of procedures being performed and billed without prior discussion or consent across all three of our accounts. In each case we were scheduled for routine cleanings and billed afterward for more expensive procedures we were never informed about in advance, with no discussion of potential out-of-pocket costs before treatment was rendered. When I raised these concerns in writing and by phone, the office manager did not respond to multiple emails and phone calls over several weeks. One charge was partially resolved, but the remaining dispute has gone completely unanswered. This pattern across three family members, combined with the lack of response to legitimate billing concerns, makes it impossible for me to continue as a patient or recommend this practice. read more

I had a lovley experience with the hygienist Ketam and Dr. Matt. Ketam was incredibly kind and helpful. As someone who does not usually like the dentist this was honestly my best experience ever. He's so thoughtful and personable and of course an Uber-expert at what he does and makes you feel completely calm and comfy while he's doing it too. I had a tooth drilled and a cap put on. No pain at all and it's a perfect fit! I love the way it looks and feels. Speaking of the way things look eh-hem ... he's a site for sore eyes , hubba hubba The entire staff is super friendly, accommodating and organized. It's a little out of the way for me but totally worth it. Highly recommend! I'll be going to dr Rothstein as long as I live in New York. Their billing is awful!! They charged my son a $75 consultation fee that was never given. I've been going back and forth with them for 5 months! I put a review on Google with more details. Quite possibly THE ABSOLUTE WORST dentist experience of my life. They do not keep their word, they do not meet deadlines and it seems like they just tell the customer what they want to hear to get that money. I had a very important deadline to meet and for an upper partial to get made in time. They promised me the world that it would be done. I trusted their word and they submitted for the partial to be made a week and a half late!! Absolutely disgusting manners by Dr Matt. Go there at your own risk. I didn't get the best vibes when I was there. The hygienist tried to sell me everything under the moon whether I needed it or not. They are definitely not looking out for your best interest and will try to squeeze every dollar out of you. On the bright side, everyone there is very nice and they are very professional. Beware of aggressive upselling of services that you do not need and examine your billing and EOB statements from your insurance provider carefully. Both my spouse and I were urged to have planing and scaling done and antibiotic treatments, and then were charged $200 above the insurance-contracted rate. I've tried for six week to resolve the issue by calling and visiting the office but got stonewalled. My recommendation: don't agree to any procedure that's not necessary, get a full explanation of the costs beforehand, and only pay your copay amount until you receive your EOB from your insurance provider. read more

This one is truly disappointing to write as I had high hopes as one of parents referred me. While the office is nice and scheduling an appt is seamless, my experience was absolutely brutal. Initial cleaning- informative but literally felt as though I was being sold every step of the way. My gums were bleeding (its normal) and the huge is it tried to sell me on a liquid antibiotic to help stop the bleeding. I didn't even know this existed. even better- it cost $40 a treatment and I need 5 apparently. Additionally was told to get a cleaning every 3 months instead of 6. Dr came in. She was lovely. But, upon reading my X-ray I was told that I needed to have about 8 things fixed. (Mind you at my old dentist office at my appt 3 months prior I had 1 cavity and a missing filling) Upon checking out/ I scheduled the appts needed/ was told the work would cost north of $2k!!!! (With insurance) Called at the end of that day asking for my X-rays as I wanted a second option. Got the runaround feom the receptionist that she would like the doctor to speak with me first. I said sure. Followed up 4 times to give them the opportunity...gave up. Sure enough, went back to my old dentist today after demanding the X-rays where they told me I had 2 cavities and a filling to be replaced. Additionally, the work will cost $150 tops as I have a PPO. I'm sorry but to the office, you should be ashamed of yourselves for hitting people up for this much cash. I understand that you're trying to potentially be proactive but people need to use their hard earned money elsewhere and most importantly not feel as though they're being cheated my their doctor. Really unfortunate. Think twice. And if you don't think twice, get a second opinion. read more

Laurie is the best. I was just there. She is so kind and gentle and caring and loving. I love to come here. And dr Rothstein too. It's like one big happy family here. All the doctors are so friendly And so is dr Auerbach. All so friendly and patient and kind. And the ladies at the front desk and Miguel too. Everyone is so happy and friendly. An Implant, root canal and crown have been a part of my treatment plan over the last 12 months. Three different procedures with 3 doc's (in the same office) including Dr. Rothstein, all successful. Honestly, I am so happy that I switched to Dr. Rothstein Dental Office! The staff are amazing! They are welcoming and I'm always greeted in a friendly manner. I feel confident that they are doing their jobs well. Sarah is an amazing dental hygienist! I've never felt like my teeth were ever cleaned properly at my other dental office. Sarah is very professional and always provide input on how I can better clean my teeth. Dr. Auerbach what can I say! Truly nicest Dentist I've had. I went for fillings this week and I tend to have anxiety due to past experiences but this time I was very relaxed given that Dr. Auerbach asked me if I was okay. The dental office of Dr Michael Rothstein in New City, NY, is most pleasant and efficient!!!! Office manager Marissa is very knowledgeable, has her thumbprint on every aspect of the office and beyond well versed within her job skills as a dental office manager with years of experience!!! It says a lot about when staff is happy within their position and well organized, it shows in good management on hand and training. So many times you hear horror stories from patients of dentistry visits from the past gone wrong. This most recent visit and many visits prior was a true pleasure, flawless and the gas/nitrogen oxide didn't hurt either. Both of my children have never complained, had an issue nor expressed any concerns to me about going to the dentist. Both would simply get in the car and go into the office w trust and ease. It's truly important to note that their previous dentist was THEIR FATHER. So moving from their father and being in the dental chair from the age of 3, to a dentist who would now be complete stranger, I was very concerned that the exchange and their trust level would be altered. IT WAS NOT AT ALL THAT WAY IN THE LEAST!!!! This office is clean from Covid and educated on how Covid free from the onset of walking in and why certain mundane protocols are being completed. It makes patients comply with tasks more easily, timelessly and efficiently. I cannot say enough on why people close or far you may reside, that going to Dr Rothstein's office is a true pleasure for a simple or more complex procedure is needed. From the start of care before the procedure, the follow up call to check on the patient after the procedure is completed and the kindness of the front desk staff; especially the office manager, Marissa cannot be said enough. As a long term patient now and someone who has recommended multiple amount of referrals, it is my true pleasure to recommend Dr. Michael Rothstein and his multiple DDS/DMD and hygienists to the NY area. Finding a dentist office that is amazing and equipped to work with a difficult patient such as myself, who is even willing to take the time out to write a recommendation online says a lot!!!!
