I came to Dr Leathers after a bad fall which had caused swelling in my elbow. There was quite a bit of pain, so since I had to wait some time to see Dr Leathers, I went Immediately to see a doctor in an urgent care center. She drained the excess fluid and rapped my elbow tightly so that it would not swell again. After a few days of getting better, it was swollen again. This same Doctor in the urgent care center saw me again, and warned me that her brother had hit his elbow rock climbing and when he was x-rayed, there was found to be a very small fragment of bone that had chipped off. His doctor advised immediate surgery and removed the fragment, which was the only way he would not have any future problems with it. Well, I went to see Dr Leathers and he diagnosed it as bursitis and said all I had to do was keep it wrapped tightly. It started swelling again about a week later and I saw Dr Leathers again. This time I told him how concerned I was and explained that the doctor from the urgent care had warned me that her brother had had a recurring swelling in his elbow that was originally diagnosed as bursitis but that it turned out to be a bone fragment that had to be removed. After hearing this, Dr Leathers looked at me with this look of impatience and anger and said very sternly "This is bursitis. I've seen this many times". I said "Won't you just look at an X-ray to be sure?" He answered that he was sure this was bursitis and sent me off abruptly. Well to make a long story short. I went to another doctor, a Dr Pavandi, just down the hall. Dr Pavandi immediately wanted an X-ray (which they took right away in their own office) to "see exactly what was causing the swelling" He then placed the x-ray on the screen right there in front of us and pointed to a bubble like object near my elbow and said that I had a bone fragment that needed to be removed immediately along with my bursa sack but that I shouldn't worry the sack would grow back in a matter of weeks. He was so kind and thoughtful! He performed the surgery, my arm healed, and is in great shape now! Through all this, Dr Pavandi was warm, considerate and very competent. All the things that a doctor should be! Dr leathers, on the other hand, had acted exactly the opposite and, in my opinion, should not be practicing medicine! But if you want a doctor who is rude, uncaring, and incompetent, then Dr Leathers is your man! read more
