The Creamery at Mootz is absolutely fantastic!!! Great menu, ice cream with Mootz candies in it, you can't go wrong. The staff is fast, and friendly. We stopped by after dinner at Benny Brewing. I had a salted caramel in a pretzel cone! OMG! Husband had a Mootzie Mash-up with mix ins of delicious candy. He really enjoyed it! We absolutely love Michael Mootz chocolate and their creamery, which is right next to their shop. When the inside of the shop was closed (due to Covid restrictions) they offered online purchases to be picked up from a window at their store. It went very smooth and we were able to get all of the Easter gifts we needed. Yesterday we went to the creamery for the first time this summer. We really missed that place when it was closed. Their ice cream is creamy and they put the perfect amount of toppings on their sundaes (and don't skimp on the whipped cream!). This review is specific to their ice cream. Not all ice cream is created the same and Michale Mootz ice cream is outstanding! If your a chocolate lover, like me, you must try their chocolate fudge brownie! OMG! It's delicious!!! I've also tried their chocolate soft serve, it had a rich and creamy flavor. Also delicious. Prices are average for the area and service is pretty fast for a scoop shop. On the down side, there are only 3 picnic tables, needless to say they fill up quickly and a warm sunny day. read more

They really dropped the ball on my last order. My dad really loves their fudge and I like it too. We pick some up every year at the Kutztown Folk Festival and we used to get it at the Governor Mifflin Community Days as well. I figured I'd surprise him with some for Father's Day this year. I ordered on Thursday night which was June 15th. I didn't get an order confirmation at the end but the charge was showing on my account, so I sent them an email to check if it went through. They called me the next day to say the order did go through but they've been having issues with their website (1st problem). He asked if I'd like him to ship it out on Monday instead so it doesn't sit in the UPS warehouse all weekend. I said fine. If they used FedEx Ground (same cost) for their Friday orders, it would have arrived on Saturday (2nd problem). Tuesday rolls around and I realize I didn't get my regular text message from UPS about a delivery today. I called Mootz's and they said it didn't ship out yet... but they'll ship it out by the end of the day (3rd problem). It arrives on Wednesday in the 80 degree heat. Unlike in previous years, they merely packed it in a cardboard box with tons of packing peanuts. No cooler or ice packs despite the $11 shipping (4th problem). It was pretty melty looking, but it was okay. For my $40 order of three pounds, I'm highly disappointed in the way they handled my order and the way they shipped it. Unfortunately, we'll have to stick to buying their fudge in-person. read more

My dad always brings me home these little Chocolate Molasses Coconut Eggs from Michael Mootz - and like most twenty-something year old females - I literally *DIE* each time I eat one (and so does a big part of my diet). They are outstanding and delicious and taste even better when chilled in the refrigerator. I have a love affair with these heaven-sent candies and I can't wait to sample other things from their store. To note, I've also tried the fruit and nut flavor and the maple-something-or-other and I stand by the molasses-coconut ones... hands down the best. Have you ever noticed the quality of their chocolate Gone down hill! The nonpareil's are different chocolate then all of your molded items in the store. Compare Stopay or Dunmore candy kitchen milk chocolate and you could see the color difference better off just going to one of these local homemade candy shops and pay $.50 more for a better grade chocolate . read more

Growing up in Pottsville, it was tradition for holidays to go to Mootz's for candy. I was thrilled when I found the same candies still available. The candies are fantastic, but the shipping charges are outrageous. A pound of fudge for $8.95 but the regualr shipping at over $13 in the same state. Crazy read more
